Lesson 80 WarmUp:
1) Solve: 3(x + 2) = x + 10 [show all steps]
2) Solve: 0.03x + 0.1 = 0.7 [show all steps]
3) If 46% of the 150 people responded to the survey, how
many did not?
4) What is the volume of a cylinder with a radius of 10 feet
and a height of 1 foot?

Lesson 80
*Mixed measures are measurements with different units
combined by addition.
**Monomial – a constant or the product of constants and/or variables with
exponents that are whole numbers.
Ex 2x2 -5 x2y 7xyz z
4. Lesson 80.notebook March 31, 2014
· a monomial consists of one term
· a binomial consists of two terms
· a trinomial consists of three terms
· a polynomial can have ANY number of terms
*The degree of a polynomial is the highest degree of any of its terms
x - the degree is 1, because the exponent is 1
x2 - the degree is 2, because the exponent is 2
x3 - the degree is 3, because the exponent is 3
5. Lesson 80.notebook March 31, 2014
If a term has more than one variable, the degree of the term is the SUM of
the exponents
2xy - the exponents are 1 and 1, so the degree is 2
6abc - the exponents are 1, 1, and 1, so the degree is 3
