2. BASIC REASONS
I needed to satisfy the requirement of font variation in the
construction of my magazine
Default and pre-loaded fonts on the school computers offered
some variety, but the number of sans serif fonts were actually
quite low
Font websites allowed a wider choice of font
3. NAVIGATING TO FONTSPACE.COM
The fontspace website
categorises its selection
very clearly when the
browse button at the top of
the page is selected.
The underlined option is
sans serif fonts. I have
selected this because all
the fonts on my front cover
are sans serif fonts and I
don’t want to use a font that
will damage the look of the
page
4. SELECTING A FONT
The menu at the top of
the results page allows
me to customise the text
that I see. I typed in the
text that will appear on
my page, and it then
appears in all the fonts.
I also chose the colour
scheme that this text will
appear in, so I can get an
accurate reflection of how
the text will look in its
colour scheme on the
page.
5. CHOOSING A FONT
The font I selected was
called ‘A love of thunder’.
It looks different to the
rest of the fonts on my
front cover, but is still
sans serif. It is very bold
so draws attention.
The school computers
don’t allow downloading
of fonts, so my only
option was to copy the
font from the webpage to
Photoshop.
6. PASTED FONT AS IT APPEARS ON MY
COVER
The pasted text is placed
at the bottom and is
bolder in appearance than
the rest of the fonts.
The colour scheme also
adds some variety to the
page without damaging
the colour scheme.
Other font sites like
DaFont and 1001 Free
Fonts would not allow me
to add colour to the fonts,
which would have made
integrating them into the
magazine difficult.
