2. DVA Distance visual acuity-is tested to gain an understanding of the degree of vision loss. It does not indicate how well a person uses vision but is a standard measurement. Vision loss can be described in the following categories Amount of Visual Loss Visual Acuity None to Slight 6/6 - 6/18 Moderate <6/18 - 6/60 Severe <6/60 - 3/60
3. ECCE Extracapusular cataract extraction-is a method of a cataract surgery that involves removing the eye's natural lens while leaving in place the back of the capsule that holds the lens in place. The procedure requires a much smaller incision than the older procedure called intracapsular cataract extraction in which the lens and the e.lntirecapsule were removed.
4. EM Emmetropia-is the ideal state of the eye in which no refractive error is present
5. EOM Extraocular movement- are the six muscles that control the movements of the eye(Four for Bovines). The actions of the extraocular muscles depend on the position of the eye at the time of muscle contraction.
6. ICCE Intracapsular cataract extraction- is a form of cataract surgery developed in the early 1980s, but seldom used today because more advanced techniques are available. In this surgery, the entire natural lens of the eye, including the capsule that holds it in place, is removed. The procedure requires a much larger incision than used in the more recently developed techniques.
7. IOP Intraocular pressure- is a measurement of the fluid pressure inside the eye. This fluid, or aqueous humor, nourishes the cornea, iris, and lens, and it helps the eye maintain its globular shape.
8. ST Esotropia- is the most common form of strabismus in infants, a condition that refers to any misalignment of the eyes. In the case of esotropia, one eye deviates inward toward the nose while the other fixates normally
9. VA Visual Acuity- is acuteness or clearness of vision, which is dependent on the sharpness of the retinal focus within the eye and the sensitivity of the interpretative faculty of the brain. Visual acuity is a measure of the spatial resolution of the visual processing system and is usually tested in a manner to optimise and standardise the conditions
10. VF Visual Field-is sometimes used as a synonym to field of view, though they do not designate the same thing. The visual field is the "spatial array of visual sensations available to observation in introspectionist psychological experiments" while 'field of view' "refers to the physical objects and light sources in the external world that impinge the retina
11. XT Exotropia- is the condition where one eye deviates inward (toward the nose). Esotropia is the most common type of strabismus in infants, while exotropia often begins between the ages of 2 and 4. About 4 percent of all children in the United States have some form of strabismus
