Makerere University officially adopted a collegiate system in 2011/2012, with 8 colleges and 2 schools. The colleges include the College of Education and External Studies, which oversees the School of Education; the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, under which falls the Margaret Trowell School of Fine Art; and the College of Natural Sciences, which now includes the School of Forestry, Environmental and Geographical Sciences. The only standalone schools are the School of Law and School of Veterinary Medicine.
