Technologies in Paramount Since the DreamWorks deal ends in 2012, Paramount announced their own animation division The first films from this division are expected in 2014 This is the first time Paramount have had their own animation team since 1967. The last film animation made by DreamWorks/Paramount is Rango.
6. Studio History! 1912 - Adolph Zukor secured distribution rights the first drama showed in the US called QUEEN ELIZABETH. 1916 - Jesse L. Lasky Company combined with its distributors and became the “Paramount pictures” label. 1926 – New Hollywood studio built on a 26 acre plot; consisted of 4 large warehouses and cost just under £1 million. 1927 – The first Oscar was won by a film called WING. 1930’s – Paramount pictures survived the American Great Depression. 1940’s – Paramount made the biggest profit ever recorded with over £39 million. 1950’s – Paramount pictures smashes the academy awards nominee list. 1966 – The Gulf and Western Industries turned into the new entertainment division called Paramount communications. 1980’s – Franchises were born E.g. Star trek, Airplanes, Friday the 13th, Indiana Jones and Beverly Hills cops. 1994 – Paramount merged with Viacom.
7. 1994 – Forrest Gump won 6 academy awards including best director and best actor (Tom Hanks). 1997 – Titanic made $18 billion and won 11 Academy awards. 2008 – Best year ever; Iron man, Kung Fu panda, Tropic thunder, Indiana Jones, Eagle eye and Madagascar 2: escape 2 Africa. 2009 and beyond – Next year Paramount will be celebrating their 100th year in the film industry.
