Key findings: I found on Channel 4 that there is much more factual programs than any other. Also The One Show is very different to The only way is Essex although they are both factual programs as The Only way is Essex is a scripted reality documentary which appeals to Young people. Type of research method Why this method is effective? Secondary use a TV guide to look for the amount of factual programs being shown. This is effective because you can see how many times in a day factual programs are on. Primary analyse and compare two of the factual programs I would compare The One Show which is factual with the only way is Essex which is a program that appeals to young people.

Key findings: I found a pie chart which shows the amount of People who watch channel 4 which is a TV channel that has over 50% factual programs. Will be able to get an idea on the type of people who watch factual programs. Primary watch a few factual programs and take notes on who I think I they appeal to. This would help strengthen the my choice for the my target audience may help it be more successful when it reaches that target audience.

Key findings: I think there are many gaps in the factual genre as there are so many different types of genres that factual programs do not show. I haven’t yet fully formed my idea however I can see that my program is a little different to others. Type of research method Why this method is effective? Secondary look on the internet and find out all the genres of TV programs niche and mainstream. This would me see if there is a gap in genres to see if my program can fit in. Primary take notes of a large amount documents and see if mine is different. This would allow me to see if my program doesn’t contain the same aspects as the ones I look at.
