The document discusses the color scheme chosen for a magazine. The author took inspiration from other indie magazines that commonly used red, black, purple, and white. They selected black, red, and white as the three colors for their magazine since black fits the dark, intense theme and red and white complement it well. Additional research found that red represents energy, passion, and power; black represents power and elegance; and white symbolizes perfection - qualities the author wants the magazine to convey.

1. When choosing the colour scheme for my magazine I took inspiration
from other indie magazines such as Billboard,I then looked at their
colours to see the colours that they used. Red, black, purple and white
were the most used colours, so then it was simply a case of choosing the
three colours that I wanted to use throughout my magazine. I knew that I
would include the colour black as it is key to the genre and style of my
magazine as the whole theme of it is a kind of dark and intense magazine,
I then decided to pick two colours which go best with black and I decided
to go with red and also white.
I then analysed further the three colours to make sure that their
connotations were suitable for my magazine genre.
This is what I discovered from my research;
red – this is the colour that is associated with energy, danger, power and
determination as well as passion, desire, and love – These connotations fit
in with my magazine genre as I think they relate to the type of artists that
will be featuring in my magazine and the type of vibe I want my magazine
to give off.
Black – this is associated with power, elegance, formality and mystery.
These connotations once again fit in with my magazine genre. I want my
magazine to be viewed as powerful.
2. White – White is associated with light and its considered to be colour of
perfection, I want my magazine to be viewed as perfection so I chose this
as the final colour.
These are my final colours as I think when put onto my magazine they will
make it look sophisticated, professional and sleek.
