Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving
the quality and quantity of traffic to a website or website
from search engines. SEO targets unpaid traffic (known as
"natural" or "organic" results) rather than direct or paid
traffic. Unpaid traffic can come from a variety of searches,
including image search, video search, academic search, news
search, and industry vertical search. When it comes to SEO,
the quest for quick profits is often referred to as "black hat
SEO.
2. Keyword cannibalization
• It may work in the short term and bring some traffic to your website,
but after a while, Google will penalize and even blacklist your website
so you never rank. Duplicate content: When someone tries to rank for
a certain keyword, they may duplicate existing effective content from
other sites to try to be relevant to the topic. Google penalizes sites
that do this. There is also the risk of keyword cannibalization when
you have multiple pages from the same site competing for rankings.
3. Black hat strategy
• Invisible text and keyword stuffing: Years ago, the black hat strategy
was to include lots of keywords at the bottom of your articles, but
have them be the same color as the background. The same goes for
stuffing keywords where they don't belong. Another example of
keyword stuffing is an article that tries to include a certain keyword as
many times as possible, to the point where the phrases look
unnatural. Pages that are linked from other pages indexed by other
search engines do not need to be submitted as they are found
automatically
4. XML Sitemap
• Major search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo! use crawlers to
find pages for their algorithmic search results. Directory and DMOZ,
two large directories that were closed in 2014 and 2017, both
required manual submission and human editorial review Google
offers a Google Search Console service for which an XML Sitemap can
be created and submitted for free to ensure that all pages are found,
especially pages that cannot be found by automatic link crawling in
addition to the URL submission console.
5. Google PageRank
• Previously operated a paid submission service that guaranteed to
crawl at a cost per click; however, this practice was discontinued in
2009. Links - Links from other websites play a key role in determining
a website's ranking in Google and other search engines. This is
because the link can be perceived as a quality ranking of other sites,
as site owners are unlikely to link to other low-quality sites. Sites that
receive links from many other sites gain authority (called "PageRank")
in the eyes of search engines, especially if the sites linking to them are
themselves authoritative. Content - In addition to looking at links,
search engines also look at the content of a site to see if it would be
relevant to a particular search query.
