17. 1. What inspires me about this activity?
When experiencing the activity, listen and look out for which
elements of it inspire and excite you. Make a note of all that do.
Stimulus Questions
2. How will I use what I learn in my work?
All learning is useful but of the new things you learn through
attending the events, which of them will you use in your practice?
3. How will I share my experience inclusively?
What is most accessible way for you to share your experience,
learnings and new ideas with your colleagues and wider networks?
21. Framework
Relevance
What you take from the
experience and decide to share
should be relevant to your work
and of interest to your network
Simplification
Make sense of the information
you have gathered. Make sure
you understand it and your
audience does too. Remove
obstacles; edit, reduce, refine.
Personalisation
The output and medium should
reflect your practice, artform
and/or discipline.

30. #hashtagtips
Search for information and people to
connect with by using branded event and
topical #hashtags like #stayseeshare
and #digitalstorytelling.
31. #socialengagement
List
Make lists of the most
interesting people you
find using tools like
Twitter Lists.
Interact
Use social engagement
tactics such as Liking,
sharing, reposting and
commenting.
Meet
Follow up with the people
you most want to talk to
and arrange to meet —
online, on the phone or
even in person.
Follow
Check out the people
attending the events and
activities you like the
most and follow them (on
social channels, event
apps, etc.).
33. Delete all you don’t
need and select the
best bits to make the
blog, podcast, video,
slideshow, artwork,
poster, zine, etc.
Process

35. Tips
Get clear sound
and bright picture
Refine your setup and
process to prioritise
achieving good sound and
vision.
Make test
recordings first
Whatever the media,
always do a test recording
first to mitigate technical
issues, check levels, etc.
Record for longer than you might
need to
Start recording before the event begins and
leave it running until afterwards; don’t miss the
best bits!

36. Tips
#editingtips
Review
Once you have an edit you are
happy (enough) with, export it —
whatever the medium — and take a
break. Then for the review: read,
watch, listen to or look at it
critically. Make notes and revise
accordingly. Then get some fresh
eyes and ears (maybe hands too)
on it. Revise then finalise.
Assembly
Start by putting everything you
want to work with into the
document — whether you’re
working with text, image, audio or
video. Create your big assembly
edit. Everything you need is here.
Cut out the bits you definitely don’t
need. Arrange it in the order you
want to tell the story.
Editing is about taking away. Chop
out everything you know you don’t
want. Go through the document in
several passes, each time ensuring
the flow of the narrative suits how
you want to tell the story. Trim,
move, rearrange, recolour, filter
and mix as you need to (depending
on your medium and style).
Fine Cut
39. Disseminate
The information to your wider
networks to benefit the creative
community.
Process
Tell
your close contacts about your
experiences.
Present
what you have learned for the
benefit of the Stay See Share
programme.

43. #hashtagtips
When using #hashtags we think
there are three main types:
#generic, #specific and #branded.
Try to use all three in context.
44. Tips
#newslettertips
Brevity
5
● Attention spans are short
● Get to the point

1

45. Online presentations;
less focus on
performance
Tips
#presentationtips —
online vs real world
● A more relaxed experience
● Less focus on the person
● More attention on the message
1
● No one point longer than 5 mins
● Less is more; keep it concise
● Remember the power of 3
2
Audiences face
many distractions
for virtual events
● Have variety in your voice
● Credible: slow, pauses, tail down
● Human: faster, musicality, tail up
3
Voice is more
important than body
language
● Look directly into the camera
● Take control of your technology
● Ask questions, interact, engage
4
With virtual events
you have to engage
the audience more
46. Tips
#presentationtips —
live vs pre-recorded
Live Recorded Ipsum dolor amet dolor
● Live videos get good engagement
● Live streaming is very popular
● You can stream cross-channel
1 Engage viewers
most effectively
● Plan, setup, test, go live
● No editing or retakes
● Afterwards, the task is done
2 Save time;
get it done
● Get the technology right
● Safeguard against poor internet
● Accessibility is a challenge
3 Have total control
over the process
● Take time getting it right
● Redo and retake as required
● Edit and refine the product
4 Ensure quality is
the best it can be
47. Permission & Copyright
Agreements
Seek permission before
recording anyone and/or
using any material you do
not own. It is fine to
embed media from social
platforms though.
Rights
Assume everything has
copyright unless it has
been explicitly labelled
with a licence like creative
commons. Check usage
restrictions on content.
Licenses
You may need to apply for
licenses for the use of
protected works, e.g. PRS
For Music and PPL in
music. It is fine to share
social content.
