Layout
In this section, you can configure how blocks with different blog information will be
arranged in the frontend. We have defined four layout types: desktop layouts for the main
blog page and for a post page, and the same layouts for mobile devices.
The configuration is easy and convenient since all the layout blocks are visualized.
 Desktop Post
Arrange blocks as you want them to be displayed on the post page in the frontend. Choose
one of several layouts and edit the arrangement of the blocks.
BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 10
You can drag, add, delete, and interchange the position of the blocks as you need.
To move a block, press the left mouse button, and drag and drop the block into the
necessary place.
To add a block, click the “Plus” button and select one of the available variants.
BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 11
If you want to delete a block, click the basket in its upper right corner.
This is how the desktop post layout looks in the frontend:
BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 12
 Desktop List
Arrange the blocks on the main blog page. The actions with the blocks are the same as for
the Desktop Post layout.
You can arrange posts in list and grid.
List: Grid:
BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 13
Mobile Post
Posts on mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, have a 2-column layout. You
can choose whether to place the blocks on the left or on the right side.
The screenshots below show how a mobile post looks in the frontend. To see the tab with
categories and other blocks, a customer should swipe it from the left or right side.
 Mobile List
The main blog page also has a 2-column layout on mobile devices just as the Mobile Post
layout.

To configure the extension, go to the System → Configuration → Blog Pro or СMS → Blog Pro → Configuration backend page. The page contains 18 sections, which are described below. Don’t be afraid of such a large number of settings. We have optimized the number of options and tried to do them shorter, but still functional. • 9. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 9 Layout In this section, you can configure how blocks with different blog information will be arranged in the frontend. We have defined four layout types: desktop layouts for the main blog page and for a post page, and the same layouts for mobile devices. The configuration is easy and convenient since all the layout blocks are visualized.  Desktop Post Arrange blocks as you want them to be displayed on the post page in the frontend. Choose one of several layouts and edit the arrangement of the blocks.
  • 10. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 10 You can drag, add, delete, and interchange the position of the blocks as you need. To move a block, press the left mouse button, and drag and drop the block into the necessary place. To add a block, click the “Plus” button and select one of the available variants.
  • 11. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 11 If you want to delete a block, click the basket in its upper right corner. This is how the desktop post layout looks in the frontend:
  • 12. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 12  Desktop List Arrange the blocks on the main blog page. The actions with the blocks are the same as for the Desktop Post layout. You can arrange posts in list and grid. List: Grid:
  • 13. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 13 Mobile Post Posts on mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, have a 2-column layout. You can choose whether to place the blocks on the left or on the right side. The screenshots below show how a mobile post looks in the frontend. To see the tab with categories and other blocks, a customer should swipe it from the left or right side.  Mobile List The main blog page also has a 2-column layout on mobile devices just as the Mobile Post layout.
  • 14. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 14 List Define the quantity of posts displayed on one blog page in the frontend. If you have more posts in your blog, customers can switch the pages with the Older Entries link: Post 1) Display Author Name: Select Yes if you want to display the name of the post author in the frontend.
  • 15. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 15 2) Display Number of Views: Enable this option to display how many store visitors have already viewed a post. 3) Display Print Link: Select Yes to allow customers print a post. It’s useful if you write articles containing helpful information to your customers. 4) Display Categories: Enable the option to display categories a post belongs to. 5) Display Tags: Enable this option to display the tags related to a post topic. Due to tags, customers will be able to find all articles with the same topic. 6) Date Format: Decide if the publishing date will be displayed in the standard format or as the number of days passed from publishing. URLs and Redirects 1) URL Postfix: The .HTML postfix shows search engines that the page is static, and, therefore, is reliable. This postfix will help you to improve your store SEO. 2) Redirect to SEO formatted URL: If you enable this option, customers and search robots will be redirected to a SEO-friendly post page by 301 redirect.
  • 16. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 16 Comments 1) Use Comments: Select Yes to enable comments in the frontend. 2) Automatic Approving: Select Yes if you want that comments to a post will be published without admin approval. 3) Allow Guest Comments: Enable the option to allow non-registered customers to comment your posts. 4) Quantity of Recent Comments in Block: Define the quantity of comments that will be displayed in the “Recent Comments” block. 5) Display Date for Recent Comments: Select Yes to show the date when a comment was left in the “Recent Comments” block. 6) Display Short Content for Recent Comments: Due to this option, customers will see the beginning of recent comments in the block. 7) Attribute rel=”no follow” for Links in Comments: If you select Yes, search engines will not follow links in comments. It is useful if someone posts spam comments with links to other sites.
  • 17. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 17 Recent Posts Block 1) Recent Posts Quantity in Block: Define the quantity of posts that will be displayed in the block. 2) Display Short Content: Select Yes to allow your customers to read the beginning of posts. 3) Display Date: Select Yes to show the date when a post was published. 4) Short Content Limit: Define the number of letters that will be displayed in the block for each post. Tags Tags are more specific than categories and help merchants to describe their posts in more detail. Due to tags, customers are able to find posts with the topic they are interested in quicker. 1) Minimal Posts Number per Tag: Define the minimal quantity of posts that a tag should have.
  • 18. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 18 Note: Try not to write only one post for a tag. It will be useless to customers, and, besides, you may be penalized by Google for having two pages with the same content (post and archive). 2) Use 3D Cloud to Display Tags: To make tags more noticeable to customers, you can add a block with a 3D tag cloud to the main blog page and post pages. 3) 3D Cloud: Height: Define the height of the 3D cloud block. 4) 3D Cloud: Color Scheme: Choose the color scheme of the cloud that will suit your store design. 5) 3D Cloud: Text Color: Input the HEX code (#FFFFFF, #ACACAC) of the color that will be applied to most popular tags (they have the bigger size than other tags). • 19. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 19 Note: insert the http://www.yourstore.com/rss address into your RSS link so as customers could get feed from your post. Publisher Information A publisher is the website which publishes posts. You can have several authors but the publisher is only one (e.g. the Magpleasure publisher). • 23. If necessary, you can update it or write manually.
  • 26. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 26 Note: if your blog title is written in non-Latin letters, the URL will be transliterated to Latin letters automatically. See the example below. 4) Short Content: In this field, you can write a short description or summary of the post to draw customers’ attention to its content.
  • 27. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 27 Content Editing In the new version of Blog Pro, we’ve integrated a new, more convenient, editor. With the help of the tools in the grid, you can quickly format text, change fonts, add images, videos, create lists, tables, etc. Cut Post You can use the first paragraph of the post as a short content. For this purpose, disable Short Content. Then, put the cursor on the place where you want to stop the short description and click the Cut Post button. The first paragraph is cut:
  • 28. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 28 The frontend view: Magento Variables Sometimes it is necessary to quickly insert into a post an email address or telephone in order customers could contact you, the sales team or another department. The Magento Variables option will allow you to do it in one click.
  • 29. BLOG PRO USER GUIDE 29 Autosave and Drafts Autosave allows you to create a blog post and not to worry that the content will be lost in an unexpected situation.
