4. THAT MIGHT BE
AWESOME!!
Just think, as a Christian leader, he could advise you!
You could ask him questions, and he would answer!
But, what about when it’s time to ‘clock out’ and watch
television? Surf the internet? Still want him around all the
time?
And, what about school or work? Texting? Movies?
Throughout the day every day? In the middle of the night?
When you go back home? When you think of your family?
What if you have nothing to hide . . . what then?
5. WE ARE ALL BUILDING OUR LIVES!
Every person, everywhere, has a life. Consider this, every person Jesus
whom talked with Jesus in the Bible . . . they were building their life too!

building our lives, we encounter Jesus.
What would He talk to you about?

“I am the boss of me!”
14. Martin Luther (1483-1526)
But God has taken my salvation out of the control of my
own will, and put my salvation under the control of His
will, and promised to save me—not according to my good
works, but according to His own grace and mercy—I have
the comfortable certainty that:
- God is faithful and will not lie to me.
- That God is also great and powerful, so that no devils or
opposition can break God or pluck me from God. "No
one," Jesus says, "shall pluck them out of my hand,
because my father which gave them to me is greater
than all.”
- Yet, if Salvation was by the power of "free-will" none of
us at all could be saved, but every one of us would perish
[because a person without God’s grace can will nothing
but evil].”
Bondage of the Will, (1525)

21. GOOD NEWS
Look to Ephesians 1 . . . this is God’s Will, that we learn, over
time, to put all areas of our life under the Lordship of Jesus.
Look to Ephesians 2 . . . we all were here. God has called all of
us away from this picture and not because we did something
good or worthy, but because God loves us. He loves you!
Every moment, the Holy Spirit—that Jesus sent to help us and
guide us—is growing us, helping us, shaping us so that we learn
to put down our Autonomy wherever it tries to rise, and
surrender that part of our life over to the Lordship of Jesus.
22. THE TAKEAWAY
1. Jesus does not come to you and me, then blast us with all of the things we need
to do . . . but if we will walk with Jesus, just like his very imperfect disciples walked
with him, then Jesus shares his life with us, and we share that life together in the
church, and this wakes us up to where our Autonomy is resisting the Lordship of
Jesus in our lives.
2. Recall the last time we met. No one approaches the Glory of God and does not
fall to the ground in utter terror at His pure holiness in view of our unholiness and
unclean lips, hearts, and minds. Remember what we learned? That we are to
approach God’s Holiness for that very purpose and we let the light in.
3. Once we find our spots of Autonomy—our sin and rebellion against the Lordship
of Jesus in our life—expose that to God’s Holiness, fall on our knees and repent of
that, and be forgiven.
4. Then read and read and read all about who you really are when you give your
life over to the Lordship of Jesus. Look in Ephesians 1. See how beautiful this
image is when we, together, reflect our Lord and our Savior for the world to see.
