5. WEST COAST CHINESE CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE 2015
WELCOME!
Dear brothers and sisters,
2015 has been an eventful and
challenging year for the Christian
community. We are bombarded
with news of evil and violent things
happening around the world on a
daily basis that has affected Christian
churches, global missions, cultures,
and even our own Christian faith. From
gay marriage being legalized by the US
Supreme Court to terrorist attacks by
ISIS against religious minorities, women
and children; Christians are increasingly
facing more persecution and scrutiny
today than decades ago. It is important
that as Christians, we must unite in one
voice to condemn the evil and violence
against mankind and to stand firm to
the belief that God will redeem all things
according to His purposes. As the 2015
planning committee team, our priority
is to encourage brothers and sisters
to be plugged-in to the happenings
both locally and around the world to
intercede through purposeful prayer.
Let us be equipped to be the salt and
light of this world to make an impact
during this critical time.
“In the same way, let your light shine
before others, that they may see your
good deeds and glorify your Father in
heaven.” (Matthew5:16, NIV)
Angela Wu
2015 Planning Committee Chairperson
Dear brothers and sisters,
On behalf of the Executive
Committee, with great honor,
I would like to welcome you
all to our 46th annual West
Coast Chinese Christian
Conference! With the year
coming to a close, what
a great way to spend it
together, learning and
growing in Christ. We are
truly blessed to have you in
our midst.
There are many wonderful
and new things in store
for you during this year’s
conference. My hope is that
you will leave with a better,
clearer image of what it
means to be holy. Grab hold
of every opportunity that may
allow you to get to know more
about who God is and in turn,
who you are in Him. May you
leave blessed and equipped
to serve our God. I look
forward to journeying with you
during the next 4 days!
With love,
Karen Yu

ABOUT WCCCC
Our History
WCCCC began in 1969 when a group of foreign-born Chinese Christian
students gathered for fellowship over the Christmas break. This winter
retreat continued up through 1971. In 1972, the winter retreat planning
committee placed their efforts in the planning of the North American
Congress of Chinese Evangelicals (NACOCE). After the NA-COCE
meeting, this winter retreat began its transformation into a full-fledged
“Winter Conference”. From this beginning, WCCCC has grown into
a regional conference ministering to students and young adults,
both foreign and American born, from over 100 different groups and
churches.
Our Vision
WCCCC’s vision is to co-work with West Coast Chinese churches to
bring about a grass roots revival.
Our Mission
The primary mission of WCCCC is to plan, organize, and deliver an
annual conference for West Coast Chinese Christians that will:
• Stimulate conferees to grow in their walk with God;
• Equip conferees with the knowledge and skills to fulfill their spiritual
calling;
• Enrich conferees with a knowledge and understanding of current and
past events and movements relevant to Chinese Christians;
• Promote conferees’ awareness of their social responsibilities.
West Coast Chinese Christian Conference is an evangelical
fellowship of Chinese Christians committed to challenging
and equipping God’s people to serve on campuses or
in the workplace, at the local church or on the mission
field. Through a network of resources, training and
encouragement, WCCCC aims to serve the West Coast
Chinese Christian community.
9. 9WEST COAST CHINESE CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE 2015
Our Distinctiveness
A Community Within Diversity
Conferees come from throughout the West Coast representing diverse
backgrounds. Through group Bible studies, cabin sharing and other
activities, fellowship is fostered to promote a genuine community.
A Wealth of Perspectives
Conferees are challenged and stimulated through interaction with our
numerous speakers on a broad range of topics regarding spiritual
growth, Christian service and contemporary issues.
An Opportunity for Training
Conferees are offered practical workshops to build leadership and
evangelism skills, as well as in-conference opportunities to lead Bible
study and to practice spiritual discipline. Committee members develop
important strategic and tactical skills that provide a valuable foundation
for future ministries.
Our Beliefs
Although we come from various church denominations, the leadership
of West Coast Chinese Christian Conference holds to the following
statements of faith:
• We believe that the Bible is uniquely inspired by God, and in its
trustworthiness and authority.
• We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His true
humanity when He lived among us.
• We acknowledge the necessity of Jesus’ substitutionary death on the
cross for the redemption of the world.
• We hold that salvation is by faith and through God’s grace alone.
• We believe in the historic fact of the resurrection.
• We acknowledge the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the
work of regeneration.
• We fully expect the personal return of Jesus Christ in the future.

MORNING DEVOTION 1
Getting ready to meet with our Lord
Devotion has become a dull routine for some Christians. The truth is
each devotion is a really special meeting with our Lord. It is a special
date with you that God has set up from eternity past. Can you imagine
that? God desires to fellowship with you more than you know. Make
the best out of it. Give your best to prepare for it.
Take your Bible; find a comfortable, undisturbed place to relax. Spend
at least 5 minutes to quiet down. Use breathing exercises. Do not
begin until your entire body is in a totally relaxed state. Focus only on
one thought – that you too want to meet with your personal Savior
and Lord Jesus Christ.
Text
Ps.24:3-6 (NET) (Other translations are OK)
“3 Who is allowed to ascend the mountain of the LORD?
Who may go up to his holy dwelling place?
4 The one whose deeds are blameless
and whose motives are pure,
who does not lie,
or make promises with no intention of keeping them.
5 Such godly people are rewarded by the LORD,
and vindicated by the God who delivers them.
6 Such purity characterizes the people who seek his favor,
Jacob’s descendants, who pray to him.”
21. 21WEST COAST CHINESE CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE 2015
Reading and Reflection
1. This psalm was probably written after King David moved the Ark into
the tabernacle outside of Jerusalem. He asks two rhetorical questions
in v.3 and answers them himself in the next verse. Taking those condi-
tions (blameless, pure, truthful) literally, no one can ascend the moun-
tain of the Lord nor go up to His holy dwelling place,
would you agree?
Pause now and reflect on your deeds, motives, and words. Are they
“blameless”, “pure”, and “truthful”? Have you made promises that you
had no intention of keeping? The Lord knows you intimately.
Confess those sins now.
2. Of all the patriarchs, Jacob is probably the most cunning and de-
ceitful. Yet the Psalmist singles him out as representative of one who
seeks God, who prays to him. Are you surprised? In fact, people
like him are “rewarded” (v.5). Why do you think that is the case?
3. The Psalmist knows by experience that he too is sinful. He is only
vindicated and declared righteous by “the God who delivers” him
(v.5). We too, like David and Jacob are declared righteous by God in
spite of our sinful nature and deeds. We have been “justified as a gift
by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.”
(Romans 3:24).
Now thank and praise Him for this wonderful provision. Declare boldly
that in Christ, you will ascend the mountain of the Lord and approach
his holy dwelling place.
We have already ascended the “mountain of the Lord.” Several de-
cades ago a WCCCC evening speaker told the conferees that: “You
are on holy ground. Expect great things to happen, listen to God’s
voice speaking to you, receive grace and blessing from Him.”
God has done great things at this campground in the past. Do you
have similar expectations?

Day 1
1 Peter 2:4-25
We are a Holy Priesthood and Nation
• What does “holiness” mean?
• Examine vv. 9-10, what is the significance of each description of who
we are in Christ?
• Compare v. 11 with vv. 9-10, what does this tell us?
• See vv. 13-20, what situations in your life does this passage speak to
in a practical way?
• How has this text challenged YOU to be holy as God is holy?
2015 WCCCC Theme, “Be Holy, Because God is Holy”

By God’s work through Christ, we are a chosen race, royal priesthood,
holy nation, and people for his own possession; thus, we are sojourners
and exiles in this world.

Can I Change My Profile Picture
to Rainbow?
It’s time for our individual conferees to have a voice! We
encourage all our conferees to speak up about how they
feel about current issues. We have different topics every
year to stimulate and engage each conferee to not be
afraid to make a stand for what they believe in.
Equality, individuality, and tolerance are qualities highly
valued in our society. In light of the recent U.S. Supreme
Court decision, many people made a rainbow stripe bi-
layer on their profile pictures to show their support for the
LGBTQQ community. Would you do the same? How do
you feel about this?

WORKSHOP B
Speaker: J.S. PARK
Language: English
Dating and relationships are hard. Getting good advice is even harder.
There are a ton of myths in both Christian circles and pop culture about
how to find “The One,” and it gets confusing. The church has advocated
courtship, dating only to marry, while the culture says to “follow your heart.”
Both extremes can get us stuck. Is there a better way? How does the Bible
have relevance for dating and relationships? How do we actually find The
One? And what do we do when we’ve found that person? J.S. Park leads
this workshop.
Speaker: MELVIN WONG
Language: English
It is amazing how many people believe it is not possible to keep one’s mind holy
in today’s world. Speaker Melvin Wong offers practical advice on how we can
win against temptations and enjoy new levels of mental and emotional clarity.

like you to join our discussion on how to develop a campus ministry by following
the example of our Jewish Lord, share your insights and experience. Speaker
Tony Chan will explore and discuss: (1) the imperative of the great commission

1In the year of King Uzziah’s death, I saw the sovereign master seated
on a high, elevated throne. The hem of his robe filled the temple.
2 Seraphs stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they
covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and they used
the remaining two to fly. 3 They called out to one another, “Holy, holy,
holy is the Lord who commands armies! His majestic splendor fills the
entire earth!” 4 The sound of their voices shook the door frames, and the
temple was filled with smoke.
5 I said, “Too bad for me! I am destroyed, for my lips are contaminated
by sin, and I live among people whose lips are contaminated by sin. My
eyes have seen the king, the Lord who commands armies.”6 But then
one of the seraphs flew toward me. In his hand was a hot coal he had
taken from the altar with tongs. 7 He touched my mouth with it and said,
“Look, this coal has touched your lips. Your evil is removed; your sin is
forgiven.” 8 I heard the voice of the sovereign master say, “Whom will I
send? Who will go on our behalf?” I answered, “Here I am, send me!”

41. 41WEST COAST CHINESE CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE 2015
Reading and Reflection
“No human has ever seen or is able to see” God (1 Tim. 6:16) But from time to
time, God chooses to reveal Himself to human beings. Isaiah was one who had
seen God (or His appearance) and lived to tell about it. What he wrote reads
like a guide into the Holy of Holies. What a privilege for us as readers!
1. Put yourself in Isaiah’s sandals. Close your eyes and use your imagination –
the sight of “the sovereign master? High above, His robe filling the entire space,
the sound, the smoke, the temple structure shaken to its core and the walls and
doors rattling. How would you feel?
2. Even the high angels need to cover their eyes for they cannot look straight
into God’s appearance. They cover their feet which are considered unclean.
“Holy, Holy, Holy” not “Love, Love, Love” is God’s attribute that is sung at Isa-
iah’s time as well as in eternity (Rev. 4:8).
Holiness is the most remarkable and distinguished of all of God’s attributes. Do
you know God this way? If not, why not?
3. God’s holiness means (1) He is totally separate, transcendent, and high
above us; this threatens our autonomy, (2) He is absolutely pure; this threatens
our self-righteousness.
That is why Isaiah cried out: “Woe to me!” He knew he could be destroyed in
an instant by the Holy One. Though threatened, he did not run away for he was
attracted by God’s indescribable quality of Holiness at the same time. Meditate
on this truth.
4. End this devotion time by thanking God for His provision of cleansing our sins
which is symbolized by the touching of Isaiah’s lips with the burning charcoal.
This act points towards Christ’s redemption.
et it is necessary for us to grow. Are you being pruned now? Or, do you recog-
nize any part of you that needs to be pruned by God? Ask God to give you hope
and patience in this process of pruning!

WORKSHOP C
Newton Memorial: Cascade
C1- BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO ARE
PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS’ SAKE
C2 - SHARING THE GOSPEL
WITH CONFIDENCE
Speaker: GIL STIEGLITZ
Language: Cantonese
Jesus said, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely
say all kinds of evil against you because of me.” How can we overcome perse-
cution on a daily basis? You may recognize ISIS as an agent of radical persecu-
tion, but you may not realize that persecution happens closer to home.
Speaker: RICHARD YEN
Language: English
Many Christians want to share the Gospel but they do not know how. Some try to
convince others through their own “testimony.” Unfortunately, their own experi-
ence does not represent the content of the Gospel, merely how they themselves
came to know the Lord. This hands-on seminar will equip you to share the
Gospel by using an open Bible. The authority comes from God’s own Word.
Speaker Richard Yen shows you how to present with confidence and your friend
will enjoy the experience of receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior. Best used after
fellowship hours and church services.
C3 - RIGHT TEXTS, WRONG MEANINGS
Speaker: SAM TSANG
Language: English
Author Sam Tsang will be presenting excerpts on his book “Right Texts, Wrong
Meanings”. Explore proper methods of interpreting Scripture. Avoid proof texting
(misusing) and misunderstanding the Bible.

Proverbs 4:23
“Guard your heart with all vigilance, for from it are the sources of life.
Matthew 15:16-20
16 Jesus said, “Even after all this, are you still so foolish?
17 Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth enters the
stomach and then passes out into the sewer?
18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and
these things defile a person.
19 For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immo-
rality, theft, false testimony, slander.
20 These are the things that defile a person; it is not eating with un-
washed hands that defiles a person.”

Reflection
Today we get down to the practical aspects of holiness. Be totally hon-
est with God who knows your every thought, deed and motive. Be totally
submissive as the Holy Spirit prompts you to confess and to yield. “And
you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Ask
God to give you the desire to enjoy the freedom to not sin, which is a gift
of grace of the Gospel.
1. Fools are those who do not understand nor able to apply the truth in
life. Who is Jesus calling fools? Are you or anyone else you know a fool?
2. Go through the list of sins in Matthew 15:19 carefully, pausing after
each sin. See them in the light of His holiness. Where do you fall short?
Confess and thank God for His provision of forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
Ask God to restore you. Pray David’s request in Psalm 51:10 “Create for
me a pure heart, O God! Renew a resolute spirit within me!”
3. How would you apply Proverbs 4:23 in regards to the sins you are
inclined to commit?
4. Meditate on the truth that the heart is “the source of life.” Let the
promise of a life worth living speak to you and motivate you to stick to
the commitments you made in these few days.
