The Movement for Democracy and Justice deplores that in July 2013," the
head of the military and the defence minister Abdel Fattah al-Sissi outset
Mohamed Morsi, the first elected civilian President of Egypt and arrested
him and his entire presidential team."
"From then and till today, Egypt streets are occupied with thousands of
people demonstrating against the military coup trying to defend their right
of freedom and democracy. The country is turned into a model of
suppression and atrocities with more than 5000 killed, more than 22000
civilians arrested by the military and security forces during the last 7
months according to independent international reports including Amnesty
International. Many of the victims are young people, children, women,
university students and journalists. Many cases of rape and torture inside
prisons were documented by human right organizations in addition to the
inhuman circumstances prisoners are kept in", they add.
