From this we have found out that most of the people in our questionnaire
where going to be teenagers. This was a good indication as our film is
targeted at the teenage audience aswel. However this questionnaire was
done in a school sixth form so it was quite obvious that the outcome of
results would show the majority to be more 16 - 18
3. What Gender are you?
Gender
Male
Female
From this question it shows that most of the people doing the
questionnaire are females however this information doesn’t really
help us in the making of this opening scene.
4. What Music do you like in a
Thriller?
Type of Music
Slow Paced
Fast Paced
Mellow
Classical
Tense
Build up
The results from this question helped us a lot as from the research music is
a very important factor on making the opening scene for a thriller. From
these results we now know that out target audience (16-18) mostly like a
mellow type of music. The graph also shows that only 1 person out of the 4
liked slow paced music. These results are not very accurate telling of the 16
– 18 age range as only 4 people where asked so the range is very small so
the other types of music were not picked at all.
5. What images would you like to
see in a thriller opening?
Type of Opening

Opening
From these results we have found out that the majority of the people we
questioned would want blood in their opening sequence of thriller. However
from our own research we have found out that most successful thrillers
began with a loneliness theme type for the type of images shown in the
opening sequence, even though our questionnaire shows that more people
want blood we will still use images of loneliness or isolation with a bit of
noir as flashbacks.
6. What Type of font is most
appropriate for a thriller opening?
Type of font
Arial
Impact
Times new roman
Comic Sans
From these results we have found out that the majority of the
people we questioned wanted the times new roman font, this is
most probably because it looks like olden times font and gives it
that historic scary type. Although our opening scene is not really
set in the olden times so it wouldn’t suit our establishing shot with
a time new roman font.
7. What is the best location/scenery
for a thriller movie?
The final question was an open question and
we would let the people writing it write anything
they want.
“Abandoned house or alone in a house – you can
relate to it.”
“Haunted house as it creates a very scary thriller
atmosphere”
“dark deserted scene and isolation makes you
question where the place is.”
“A graveyard as it build suspence and makes the
viewer want to keep watching.
