4. As work continues on the current road project on the far east side of the
Columbus Campus, a new project will close a portion of a street on the
west side of campus. Beginning Wednesday, a small portion of Grant
Avenue is closing for about one year.
The portion of Grant Avenue that will be closed is in red on the map
below. It’s one half of the block directly behind the bookstore (marked as
“DX” on the map) where it connects to Mt. Vernon Avenue. The sidewalk
will remain open.
The primary alternate route to use as a detour is North Sixth Street to
Grove Street, marked in yellow on the map.
The City of Columbus is closing the road for a construction crane. A
developer is renovating a privately-owned building into apartments at the
site and the crane will be placed next to the building.
Keeping her eyes on the ‘road’
Student Ambassador Laura Hill practices keeping her eyes on the road
in a simulator during the “It Can Wait” event, which was on campus
earlier this week to warn against the dangers of texting and driving.
