Business Needs
Due to the large scale of operations, data was coming in through multiple sources. There was
a strong need for a centralized and integrated source of information. So the client decided
to incorporate an Enterprise Data Management (EDM) program that would provide shared
data on investment opportunities and its benefits across the enterprise. With this program, the
client planned to build a reliable and integrated data structure that would decrease cost, surplus
information and improve overall efficiency.
Scope
By incorporating the EDM program, the client intended to create a comprehensive structure for
Operational Data Sources or ODS’, data warehouses and data marts. This structure would result
in creating a holistic environment for information on investments.
Solution
Hexaware proposed Eagle PACE as the ODS, through which investment data would be loaded
into the Enterprise Data Warehouse, which functioned as the library for all investment related
information. Since the data was coming in from various sources, the ODS would ensure the
integrity of the information before it got loaded into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
The data coming in would undergo all the necessary validity and quality checks, such as:
• Securities Data (Bloomberg)
• Positions, Trade, FX data (from BBH, SSC, etc.)
• Pricing information from IDC etc.
In case of any errors, the information was marked and reported to that respective source and
cleansed, when required.
The verified data would be loaded into the PACE ODS, using various modules of Eagle PACE,
such as ARM, SRM, Best Price and PACE, after which it was integrated into the Enterprise Data
Structure and then made available for access.
The entire structure is a holistic mix of information pertaining to several different verticals and
areas of expertise. In order to facilitate easier use, the Enterprise Data Warehouse was accessed
by creating specific data structures catering to specific subjects. This kind of accessibility ensured
varied means of data analysis, corresponding to particular areas or subjects.
