On their own IPV, PTSD and alcohol dependency result in significant personal, social and economic cost and the impact of all three may compound these costs. Researchers have reported that women with these experiences are more difficult to treat; many do not access treatment and those who do, frequently do not stay because of difficulty maintaining helping relationships. However, these women’s perspective has not been previously studied. The purpose of this study is to describe the experience of seeking help for alcohol dependency by women with PTSD and a history of IPV in the context in which it occurs. Methodology & Theoretical Orientation: An inter subjective ethnographic study using hermeneutic dialogue was utilized during participant observation, in- depth interviews and focus groups. An ecological framework was utilized to focus on the interaction between the counselors and the staff to understand this relationships and the context in which it occurs. Findings: The women in this study were very active help seekers. They encountered many gaps in continuity of care including discharge because of relapse. Although the treatment center was a warm, healing and spiritual place, the women left the center without treatment for their trauma needs and many without any referral to address these outstanding issues. Conclusion & Significance: Women with alcohol dependence and PTSD with a history of IPV want help however the health and social services do not always recognize their calls for help or their symptoms of distress. The following case study details the treatment approach for a 35-year-old Caucasian male who presented to the clinic for help with his mood disorder. The assessment and intake supported the diagnosis of bipolar disorder, subtype II. The following analysis presents the details related to both pharmacology and psychotherapy, as well as information related to medical management, community support resources, and appropriate follow-up.
Chief Complaint
The client came to the clinic reporting that he “could no longer deal with his up-and-down mood swings and that he was at the end of his rope.”
History of Presenting Problem
This client stated that he has had mood swings for as long as he could remember, and that right now he was in the “up” phase of this alternating mood pendulum. From an inspection of the genogram that the client provided, there was a noticeable inheritance pattern of the bipolar. Notably, this client had evidence of bipolar on both maternal and paternal sides of his genogram. Research has shown that bipolar has a high heritability rate. Kern (2014) reported on the concordance rates of twins with bipolar, stating the rate was from 60-80%. In other studies, the heritability of bipolar is demonstrated albeit at lower rates (Maier et al. (2005).
The DSM-V characterizes bipolar II disorder as one in which individuals experience a period of at least 4 days of hypomanic symptoms; once this criterion is met, the person fits the diagnosis of bipolar II regardless of the duration of future hypomanic episodes (APA, 2013). Additional symptoms to support this diagnosis were the client’s admission that he was taking on several projects and tasks at work simultaneously; sleeping little; experiencing racing thoughts; and feeling invincible. The intake showed the client’s extremely fast talking, switching subjects haphazardly, and admission of both depressive and hypomanic episodes, all of which point to a diagnosis of bipolar II (296.89 F31.81) (APA, 2013).
Current Medications
This client denied taking any medications, either over the counter or from a doctor. Although he claimed he was in good health, he did report that he frequently got headaches but not of migraine proportions. He described them as more of an annoyance than a health problem. He gained relief from either Motrin or Tylenol during these headache episodes. He denied taking any vitamins or herbs or any other OTC substances.
Relevant History
The client reported that his mood swings began when he was in his early 20s. As he witnessed other family members suffering from these mood swings, he came to believe they were normal. The client appeared to be in good health, was not overweight, and appeared to take good care of himself. He was dressed well and was oriented x4. Opioids are substances extracted from opium poppy, they are a sophisticated group of prescribed drugs that are used in pain management, especially after significant surgeries. Unfortunately, when these medications are used in an uncontrolled manner, they have adverse addictive effects. These drugs are specifically designed to treat severe pain and are often prescribed following surgery or injury or for health conditions that cause extensive chronic illness such as cancer. At times, when taken in a way other than prescribed by a licensed practitioner, they can cause euphoric and pleasurable effects, making them a high demand on the streets. The death statistics resulting from opioid overdose in the United States between 1999 and 2010 increased exponentially, and it was recorded that in 2010 alone, the number of deaths recorded from opioid overdose was 16,651 deaths (Volkow, Frieden, Hyde, P. & Cha, S., 2014).
In the last 20 years, both therapeutic and illicit opioid use has escalated in the United States (Volkow et al., 2014). The total number of opioid prescriptions dispensed from the United States outpatient retail pharmacies increased from 174.1 million in 2000 to 256.9 million in 2009 (Brown, A.R., 2018). The over-prescription of opioid medications widely contributes to an increase in opioid overdose, and this has had a massive impact on the states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the total "economic burden" of prescription opioid misuse alone in the United States is $78.5 billion a year, including the costs of healthcare, lost productivity, addiction treatment, and criminal justice involvement. The increase in drugs used by injection has also contributed to the spread of diseases including HIV and hepatitis C. As we have seen throughout the history of medicine, science can be a major part of the solution in such a public health crisis. Expanding access to effective, evidence-based treatments for those with addiction and also less severe substance use disorders is critical, but broader prevention programs and policies are also essential to reduce substance misuse and the pervasive health and social problems caused by it.
Time and again, studies have found that there are high levels of correlation between mental and emotional disorders and addiction. This means that those who suffer from addiction have a higher-than-average likelihood of also suffering from a psychiatric disorder (Coon, Mitterer, & Martini, 2019). They asked about a reduction in judgmental biases regarding the cost and probability associated with adverse social events as they are presumed as being mechanisms for the treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). Also, the authors poised on the changes in judgmental biases as mechanisms to explain cognitive-behavioral therapy for social anxiety disorder. On top of that, they stated that methodological limitations extant studies highlight the possibility that rather than causing symptom relief, a significant reduction in judgmental biases tends to be consequences of it or correlate. Considerably, they expected cost bias at mid-treatment to be a predictor of the treatment outcome.
2. Why do the authors believe this question is important?
According to the authors, this question was relevant as methodological limitations of present studies reflect on the possibility that instead of causing symptom belief, a significant reduction in judgmental biases can be consequences or correlated to it. Additionally, they ought to ascertain the judgment bias between treated and non-treated participants. Significantly, this was important as they had to determine the impact of pre and post changes in cost and probability of the treatment outcomes. But, probability bias at mid-treatment was a predictor of the treatment outcome contrary to the cost bias at mid-treatment that could not be identified as a significant predictor of the treatment outcome.
3. How do they try to answer this question?
They conducted a study to evaluate the significant changes in judgmental bias as aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy for social anxiety disorders. To do this, they conducted a study using information from two treatment studies; an uncontrolled trial observing amygdala activity as a response to VRE (Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy) with the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging and a randomized control trial that compared Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy with Exposure Group Therapy for SAD. A total of 86 individuals who met the DSM-IV-TR criteria for the diagnosis of non-generalized (n=46) and generalized (n=40) SAD participated. After completing eight weeks of the treatment protocol, the participants who identified public speaking as their most fearsome social situation were included. The SCID (Structured clinical interview for the DSM-IV) was used to ascertain diagnostic and eligibility status on Axis 1 conditions within substance abuse, mood and anxiety disorder modules. The social anxiety measures were measured with the use of BFNE (Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation), a self-reporting questioner that examined the degree to which persons fear to be assessed by other across different social settings. schizophrenia experience themselves as meaningful agents in the world? As an introduction to
a set of case studies of how psychotherapy can promote recovery this article briefly reviews
the history of the psychotherapy of schizophrenia. In particular the appearance and course
of psychoanalytically oriented treatments, as well as cognitively and interpersonally based
treatments are detailed. Evidence supporting these approaches and remaining questions for
research are discussed.

Trends
One of the most common disorders facing people today is
depression. By some estimates, roughly 10% to 25% of the
population experiences some form of depression. Accord-
ing to Murray and Lopez (1997), depression is the number
one cause of disability worldwide. It is clearly the most com-
mon disorder experienced by people who see mental health
practitioners (Gilroy, Carroll, & Murra, 2002). Also, it may be
the most common disorder of mental health workers them-
selves (Mahoney, 1997; Pope & Tabachnik, 1994), with re-
search suggesting that from one third to more than 60% of
mental health professionals had reported a significant epi-
sode of depression within the previous year. Depressing? Yes,
but there is hope and good news. Depression, by and large, is
a problem readily amenable to treatment, and there are many
successful approaches, many of which have empirical evi-
dence to support their efficacy. The bad news, however, is that
depression has been increasing in epidemic proportions. Data
reflect that depression is 10 times as prevalent now as it was in
1960! Seligman (2002) provided a provocative paradox on
depression. He stated that while every objective indicator of
well-being in the U.S. has been increasing, every indicator of
subjective well-being is decreasing.
Clearly, the importance of the current knowledge base on
depression is obvious. Counselors, from pre-K to adult men-
tal health workers, need to be well-versed on the current
state of treatment for depression. For counselors, it is quite
likely that for many of their clients, whether they present
with problems of mood disturbance or not, depression may
be involved. For professionals, who are at high risk for mood
disorders by the very nature of their work, the importance of
treatment and prevention in self-care is critical. Thus, this

They asked about a reduction in judgmental biases regarding the cost and probability associated with adverse social events as they are presumed as being mechanisms for the treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). Also, the authors poised on the changes in judgmental biases as mechanisms to explain cognitive-behavioral therapy for social anxiety disorder. On top of that, they stated that methodological limitations extant studies highlight the possibility that rather than causing symptom relief, a significant reduction in judgmental biases tends to be consequences of it or correlate. Considerably, they expected cost bias at mid-treatment to be a predictor of the treatment outcome.
2. Why do the authors believe this question is important?
According to the authors, this question was relevant as methodological limitations of present studies reflect on the possibility that instead of causing symptom belief, a significant reduction in judgmental biases can be consequences or correlated to it. Additionally, they ought to ascertain the judgment bias between treated and non-treated participants. Significantly, this was important as they had to determine the impact of pre and post changes in cost and probability of the treatment outcomes. But, probability bias at mid-treatment was a predictor of the treatment outcome contrary to the cost bias at mid-treatment that could not be identified as a significant predictor of the treatment outcome.
3. How do they try to answer this question?
They conducted a study to evaluate the significant changes in judgmental bias as aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy for social anxiety disorders. To do this, they conducted a study using information from two treatment studies; an uncontrolled trial observing amygdala activity as a response to VRE (Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy) with the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging and a randomized control trial that compared Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy with Exposure Group Therapy for SAD. A total of 86 individuals who met the DSM-IV-TR criteria for the diagnosis of non-generalized (n=46) and generalized (n=40) SAD participated. After completing eight weeks of the treatment protocol, the participants who identified public speaking as their most fearsome social situation were included. The SCID (Structured clinical interview for the DSM-IV) was used to ascertain diagnostic and eligibility status on Axis 1 conditions within substance abuse, mood and anxiety disorder modules. The social anxiety measures were measured with the use of BFNE (Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation), a self-reporting questioner that examined the degree to which persons fear to be assessed by other across different social settings. With growing awareness of the likelihood of recovery from schizophrenia, interest has
arisen about the potential role of psychotherapy within emerging treatment regimens. Could
psychotherapy uniquely promote recovery by addressing symptoms, the achievement of
psychosocial milestones, and/or helping to enhance the extent to which persons diagnosed with
schizophrenia experience themselves as meaningful agents in the world? As an introduction to
a set of case studies of how psychotherapy can promote recovery this article briefly reviews
the history of the psychotherapy of schizophrenia. In particular the appearance and course
of psychoanalytically oriented treatments, as well as cognitively and interpersonally based
treatments are detailed. Evidence supporting these approaches and remaining questions for
research are discussed.

schizophrenia do not experience lifelong dysfunction. Instead, most with this condition move
meaningfully toward or achieve recovery over the course of their lives (Bellack, 2006; Lysaker &
Buck, 2008; Silverstein, Spaulding, & Menditto, 2006). They may not only experience improve-
ments with regard to symptoms or function, but also positive changes in how persons think about
and experience themselves as individual human beings in the world (Resnick, Rosenheck, &
Lehman, 2004; Roe, 2001; Silverstein & Bellack, 2008). As a result of growing awareness of this
possibility, interest has arisen in whether some forms of psychotherapy could play an important
role in treatment. Given literature suggesting psychotherapy may help a wide range of people
without psychosis to develop both a richer sense of self and a more adaptive self-concept
(Hermans & Dimaggio, 2005), it is now asked whether it could do the same for many with schizo-
phrenia and thereby uniquely promote recovery (Lysaker & Lysaker, 2008).
To explore this question and a wide range of related concerns, this issue of Clinical Case Stud-
ies is devoted to case studies of the processes by which individual psychotherapy can promote

Psychotherapy of
Schizophrenia: A Brief History
and the Potential to Promote
Recovery

Abstract
With growing awareness of the likelihood of recovery from schizophrenia, interest has
arisen about the potential role of psychotherapy within emerging treatment regimens. Could
psychotherapy uniquely promote recovery by addressing symptoms, the achievement of
psychosocial milestones, and/or helping to enhance the extent to which persons diagnosed with
schizophrenia experience themselves as meaningful agents in the world? As an introduction to
a set of case studies of how psychotherapy can promote recovery this article briefly reviews
the history of the psychotherapy of schizophrenia. In particular the appearance and course
of psychoanalytically oriented treatments, as well as cognitively and interpersonally based
treatments are detailed. Evidence supporting these approaches and remaining questions for
research are discussed.

Recent reviews have suggested that contrary to long-standing pessimistic views, most people with
schizophrenia do not experience lifelong dysfunction. Instead, most with this condition move
meaningfully toward or achieve recovery over the course of their lives (Bellack, 2006; Lysaker &
Buck, 2008; Silverstein, Spaulding, & Menditto, 2006). They may not only experience improve-
ments with regard to symptoms or function, but also positive changes in how persons think about
and experience themselves as individual human beings in the world (Resnick, Rosenheck, &
Lehman, 2004; Roe, 2001; Silverstein & Bellack, 2008). As a result of growing awareness of this
possibility, interest has arisen in whether some forms of psychotherapy could play an important
role in treatment. Given literature suggesting psychotherapy may help a wide range of people
without psychosis to develop both a richer sense of self and a more adaptive self-concept
(Hermans & Dimaggio, 2005), it is now asked whether it could do the same for many with schizo-
phrenia and thereby uniquely promote recovery (Lysaker & Lysaker, 2008).
To explore this question and a wide range of related concerns, this issue of Clinical Case Stud-
ies is devoted to case studies of the processes by which individual psychotherapy can promote

Trends
One of the most common disorders facing people today is
depression. By some estimates, roughly 10% to 25% of the
population experiences some form of depression. Accord-
ing to Murray and Lopez (1997), depression is the number
one cause of disability worldwide. It is clearly the most com-
mon disorder experienced by people who see mental health
practitioners (Gilroy, Carroll, & Murra, 2002). Also, it may be
the most common disorder of mental health workers them-
selves (Mahoney, 1997; Pope & Tabachnik, 1994), with re-
search suggesting that from one third to more than 60% of
mental health professionals had reported a significant epi-
sode of depression within the previous year. Depressing? Yes,
but there is hope and good news. Depression, by and large, is
a problem readily amenable to treatment, and there are many
successful approaches, many of which have empirical evi-
dence to support their efficacy. The bad news, however, is that
depression has been increasing in epidemic proportions. Data
reflect that depression is 10 times as prevalent now as it was in
1960! Seligman (2002) provided a provocative paradox on
depression. He stated that while every objective indicator of
well-being in the U.S. has been increasing, every indicator of
subjective well-being is decreasing.
Clearly, the importance of the current knowledge base on
depression is obvious. Counselors, from pre-K to adult men-
tal health workers, need to be well-versed on the current
state of treatment for depression. For counselors, it is quite
likely that for many of their clients, whether they present
with problems of mood disturbance or not, depression may
be involved. For professionals, who are at high risk for mood
disorders by the very nature of their work, the importance of
treatment and prevention in self-care is critical. Thus, this
topic has considerable value because it is quite likely that
counselors will work with clients with depression, and it is
quite likely, given the empirical evidence, that counselors
are experiencing or will be experiencing some form of de-
pression/mood disturbance themselves.
The article “Treatment and Prevention of Depression”
(Hollon, Thase, & Markowitz, 2002) reviews the current state
of research on various treatment modalities, comparing the
effectiveness of the more widely used approaches—psycho-
dynamic therapy.

Her family was very anxious because of Mrs. Walsh’s unstable and deteriorating condition, and a family member was always with her 24 hours a day for the first few weeks.
The nurse became involved with this family while Mrs. Walsh was still in surgery, because family members were very anxious that the procedure was taking longer than it had the first time and made repeated calls to the critical care unit to ask about the patient. The nurse met with the family and offered to go into the operating room to talk with the cardiac surgeon to better inform the family of their mother’s status.
One of the helpful things the nurse did to assist this family was to establish a consistent group of nurses to work with Mrs. Walsh, so that family members could establish trust and feel more confident about the care their mother was receiving. This eventually enabled family members to leave the hospital for intervals to get some rest. The nurse related that this was a family whose members were affluent, educated, and well informed, and that they came in prepared with lists of questions. A consistent group of nurses who were familiar with Mrs. Walsh’s particular situation helped both family members and nurses to be more satisfied and less anxious. The family developed a close relationship with the three nurses who consistently cared for Mrs. Walsh and shared with them details about Mrs. Walsh and her life.
The nurse related that there was a tradition in this particular critical care unit not to involve family members in care. She broke that tradition when she responded to the son’s and the daughter’s helpless feelings by teaching them some simple things that they could do for their mother. They learned to give some basic care, such as bathing her. The nurse acknowledged that involving family members in direct patient care with a critically ill patient is complex and requires knowledge and sensitivity. She believes that a developmental process is involved when nurses learn to work with families.
She noted that after a nurse has lots of experience and feels very comfortable with highly technical skills, it becomes okay for family members to be in the room when care is provided. She pointed out that direct observation by anxious family members can be disconcerting to those who are insecure with their skills when family members ask things like, “Why are you doing this? Nurse ‘So and So’ does it differently.” She commented that nurses learn to be flexible and to reset priorities. They should be able to let some things wait that do not need to be done right away to give the family some.

Geely is aiming to be the first China carmaker to design and build satellites to support its autonomous driving programme, the latest step by founder Li Shufu in his bid to build an industry leader.
Geely, which owns Swedish brand Volvo Cars, Malaysia’s Proton, and a stake in Mercedes-Benz owner Daimler, will invest Rmb2.27bn ($325m) in a new development centre and factory to manufacture satellites this year, the company said yesterday.
The announcement makes Geely the first known Chinese carmaker with plans to build its own satellites. Mr Li’s move sparked comparisons in China media with Elon Musk, founder of electric carmaker Tesla and private space exploration company SpaceX.
Last month Geely drew comparisons with Volkswagen when Mr Li’s holding group announced plans to merge Geely Automobile and Volvo Cars, moving the company towards becoming the first global Chinese carmaker.
Che Jun, Communist party boss of China’s eastern Zhejiang province, where Geely is based, said that the complex would be built in Taizhou city and that construction had begun.
The centre will design, test and manufacture low-orbit communication satellites, purpose-built to improve geolocation of vehicles and to support their connected functions, Geely said.
Geely has been pouring money into new technologies from self-driving cars to flying taxis, spending Rmb20bn on research and development in the past year.
The investments are part of the group’s spend on global expansion, such as buying a $9bn stake in Daimler.

Nonprofit organizations are increasingly dependent on the involvement of Millennial
constituencies. Three studies investigated their motivations to support charity-linked
events: emotional identification with a cause, self-determination theory (SDT) regula-
tions, and context-related Facebook promotions. This article addresses the recent call to
expand SDT research from a simple analysis of autonomous versus controlled moti-
vation, to studying the effects of all the regulations in the SDT continuum, in particular,
the inclusion of the tripartite dimensions of intrinsic motivation and integrated moti-
vation. Results demonstrated that the greater the emotional identification with the
cause, the stronger was the tendency to support the charity-linked event. Also, the
results in these social media contexts revealed that specific intrinsic dimensions (e.g.,
experience stimulation) are motivators of online and offline support, as is the personal
value nature of integrated regulation. Whereas only autonomous motivational regula-
tions predicted support for the two events organized specifically a for charitable causes,
both autonomous and controlled regulations predicted support of a for-profit event
organized with a charitable cause as an adjunct. These findings can assist practitioners
in designing more effective social media communications in support of charity-linked
events.

Social media is a new domain offering excit-
ing opportunities to investigate research ques-
tions in social psychology (Greitemeyer, 2011;
Kende, Ujhelyi, Joinson, & Greitemeyer, 2015).
Our research examined motivation to support
charity-linked events of nonprofit organizations
that are currently faced with increased compe-
tition for resources and declining government
support (Paulin, Ferguson, Jost, & Fallu, 2014;
Reed, Aquino, & Levy, 2007; White & Peloza,
2009). Presently, they depend on an ageing set
of traditional supporters (Urbain, Gonzalez, &
Le Gall-Ely, 2013). However, their future suc-
cess lies in ensuring the sustainable involve-
ment of the Millennial generation (Fine, 2009),
distinguished from other generations by their
intense exposure at an early age to interactive
technology and social media (Bolton et al.,
2013).

“Mrs. Walsh, a woman in her 70s, was in critical condition after repeat coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Her family lived nearby when Mrs. Walsh had her first CABG surgery. They had moved out of town but returned to our institution, where the first surgery had been performed successfully. Mrs. Walsh remained critically ill and unstable for several weeks before her death. Her family was very anxious because of Mrs. Walsh’s unstable and deteriorating condition, and a family member was always with her 24 hours a day for the first few weeks.
The nurse became involved with this family while Mrs. Walsh was still in surgery, because family members were very anxious that the procedure was taking longer than it had the first time and made repeated calls to the critical care unit to ask about the patient. The nurse met with the family and offered to go into the operating room to talk with the cardiac surgeon to better inform the family of their mother’s status.
· One of the helpful things the nurse did to assist this family was to establish a consistent group of nurses to work with Mrs. Walsh, so that family members could establish trust and feel more confident about the care their mother was receiving. This eventually enabled family members to leave the hospital for intervals to get some rest. The nurse related that this was a family whose members were affluent, educated, and well informed, and that they came in prepared with lists of questions. A consistent group of nurses who were familiar with Mrs. Walsh’s particular situation helped both family members and nurses to be more satisfied and less anxious. The family developed a close relationship with the three nurses who consistently cared for Mrs. Walsh and shared with them details about Mrs. Walsh and her life.
· The nurse related that there was a tradition in this particular critical care unit not to involve family members in care. She broke that tradition when she responded to the son’s and the daughter’s helpless feelings by teaching them some simple things that they could do for their mother. They learned to give some basic care, such as bathing her. The nurse acknowledged that involving family members in direct patient care with a critically ill patient is complex and requires knowledge and sensitivity. She believes that a developmental process is involved when nurses learn to work with families.
· She noted that after a nurse has lots of experience and feels very comfortable with highly technical skills, it becomes okay for family members to be in the room when care is provided. She pointed out that direct observation by anxious family members can be disconcerting to those who are insecure with their skills when family members ask things like, “Why are you doing this? Nurse ‘So and So’ does it differently.” She commented that nurses learn to be flexible and to reset priorities. They should be able to let some things wait that do not need to be done right away to give the famil.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.

On their own IPV, PTSD and alcohol dependency result in significant personal, social and economic cost and the impact of all three may compound these costs. Researchers have reported that women with these experiences are more difficult to treat; many do not access treatment and those who do, frequently do not stay because of difficulty maintaining helping relationships. However, these women’s perspective has not been previously
- 2. studied. The purpose of this study is to describe the experience of seeking help for alcohol dependency by women with PTSD and a history of IPV in the context in which it occurs. Methodology & Theoretical Orientation: An inter subjective ethnographic study using hermeneutic dialogue was utilized during participant observation, in- depth interviews and focus groups. An ecological framework was utilized to focus on the interaction between the counselors and the staff to understand this relationships and the context in which it occurs. Findings: The women in this study were very active help seekers. They encountered many gaps in continuity of care including discharge because of relapse. Although the treatment center was a warm, healing and spiritual place, the women left the center without treatment for their trauma needs and many without any referral to address these outstanding issues. Conclusion & Significance: Women with alcohol dependence and PTSD with a history of IPV want help however the health and social services do not always recognize their calls for help or their symptoms of distress. Her open and contextual evaluation model based on responsive constructivists creates new pathways for improving healthcare. The foundation is based on fourth generation evaluation (Guba& Lincoln, 1989) which is a methodology that utilizes the previous generations of evaluation: measurement, description and judgment.
