4. Definition:
• Benchmarking is the process of comparing
one's business processes and
performance metrics to industry bests or
best practices from other companies.
Dimensions typically measured are quality,
time and cost. In the process of best practice
benchmarking, management identifies the
best firms in their industry, or in another
industry where similar processes exist,
5. • Also referred to as "best practice benchmarking"
or "process benchmarking", this process is used
in management and particularly
strategic management, in which organizations
evaluate various aspects of their processes in
relation to best practice companies' processes,
usually within a peer group defined for the
purposes of comparison. This then allows
organizations to develop plans on how to make
improvements or adapt specific best practices,
usually with the aim of increasing some aspect of
performance. Benchmarking may be a one-off
event, but is often treated as a continuous
process in which organizations continually seek
to improve their practices.
6. Procedure:
• The 12 stage methodology consists of:
• Select subject
• Define the process
• Identify potential partners
• Identify data sources
• Collect data and select partners
• Determine the gap
• Establish process differences
• Target future performance
• Communicate
• Adjust goal
• Implement
• Review and recalibrate
8. Lesson 1: Ants are organized!!!
• There are three types of ants in a colony:
• Queen
• Workers
• Male
• Everyone has their own specific job.
• Everyone does their job so that a task gets
done more quickly (gathering food)
9. Lesson 2: Ants share!!
• When one ant finds food, they let the rest of
the colony know so that everyone can share
it! Ants are never selfish.
10. Lesson 3: Ants are disciplined…
•They march in line one after another.
They move about in order and they never
cut the line!
Aren’t ants amazing??
11. Lesson 4: Ants stay busy…
• Ants always have work to do for the colony.
They work all day long!
• Ants are never lazy or refuse to do work.
12. Lesson 5: Ants never give up!!
• Even when something is hard or
gets in the way of them doing their
best work, they keep trying until
they overcome the obstacle!!
13. Lesson 6: Ants are FAST!
• Ants might be small, but
they sure are fast!
• They always do their best
work, but they try to get
things done as quickly as
they can.
• Often they work together
so that they can get more
done in a day.
14. Lesson 7: Ants plan ahead…
• Honey ants work all summer to store enough
food for the colony to survive on during the
winter. Good planning!
15. Lesson 8: Ants are hard workers!
• Did you know ants
can carry 10 times
their body
weight!?!?
• Just because
something is hard,
doesn’t mean an
ant will give up…
and neither
should you!!
16. Lesson 9: Ants use TEAMWORK!!
• Everything an ant does, is to benefit the colony. Everyone
works together!
• They know their job and they get it done!
• One might be digging tunnels, another might be gathering
food.. But every job is important and everyone will notice if
one ant is not doing their job.
17. Lesson 10: Ants stick together…
• They take care of each other…
• They help each other…
• They look out for one another…
• Are ants bucket fillers??
19. • Ants are organized
College Workplace can be made more organized by
specific distribution of chores of different student
bodies and staff.
• Ants share
Sharing of knowledge can do wonders and group
studies can really help boost up scores
• Ants are disciplined
College success depends upon academic discipline
• Ants stay busy
A busy college life teaches time management to
students to help them deal with a hectic tomorrow.
20. • Ants never give up
If an ant is headed in one direction, no matter what
you do to stop them, they find another way to
continue in that direction. They’ll go around, climb
over, climb under - they just keep looking for
another way. What a great philosophy to have -
never quit heading in the direction you have chosen
regardless of the obstacles.
• Ants are FAST
College students can really help their career
prospects if they are fast with their assignments
and daily lessons too.
21. • Ants plan ahead
They think Winter all Summer (i.e. they collect food
in mid summer).
They think Summer all Winter. And so should we.
• Ants are hard workers
Hardwork?!? The notion speaks for itself.
• Ants use TEAMWORK && Ants stick together
Ants are always together no matter what,we as
college students should stay together specially in
the hour of need & show some teamwork.
23. ORGANISATIONORGANISATION
• Beautiful , neat and eco-friendly
campus.
• Existence of a student council body.
• Every department should have its own
club.
• Well trained faculty members
• IT integrated solutions in labs and
libraries.
24. PLAN AHEADPLAN AHEAD
• Test and exams should be properly and
timely scheduled.
• Vacations and mid-sem breaks should be
evenly spaced.
• Extra-curricular and cultural events should be
appropriately planned. This helps in time
management of students.
• College should provide academic calander to
all students.
25. DISCIPLINEDISCIPLINE
• Priority for value education.
• Students must attend practicals,tuorials
etc. as per the time table.
• Acts of mis-behaviour,mis-conduct and
indiscipline must not be tolerated.
26. FASTFAST
• Speedy college administration.
• Easy access of books and materials in library.
• Correction of semester papers and result
declaration should be fast.
• The process of sanctioning of leaves should
be quick.
27. TEAMWORKTEAMWORK
• College’s national ranking depends upon the
collaborated efforts of students and teachers.
• Placement ratios are directly proportional to the
teachers attitude towards the placing
companies.
• Students performances boast up if group studies
are nurtured.
• College events are a success only if
we have active participation and
teamwork from students and teachers
together.
29. • Management Lessons can be easily grasped
by simply observing ants.
• College administration can be made more
robust if we take into consideration the "PLAN
AHEAD" philosophy of ants.
• Have a system where workers are not idle,
and there is always someone available to do a
job when needed.(Note that, even in ant
colonies, laziness exists, and the reproductive
males do nothing).
30. • Teamwork is better than individuals working
alone, and the whole is
worth more than the sum of its parts.
• Ants teach us that knowledge should be
shared.
• Student body can boost up their efficiency if
they imbibe ants' qualities:
1.Hard Work
2.Persistence
3.Patience
