Dear Judges:
I am very excited to present to you my Senior Project. I will begin by telling you a little about
myself. My name is Josh Christopherson, and I have always been interested in engineering and
science. Therefore, I hope to pursue a career in electrical engineering. For my senior project, I
was curious of making a cost efficient solar battery charger was ever possible.
For my product, I tried to make a cost efficient solar battery charger; in my research paper, I
researched why the solar industry has not flourished as much as it could have. A big setback in
solar energy is the cost to make and buy solar panels. I realized as soon as I started my project
that the expense of the solar panel would not be the issue. The real obstacle was the price of all
the tools needed to put it all together (i.e. the batteries, the soldering tool, and the other
components of the panel). In addition, I found out how difficult it was to connect a solar panel to
a circuit board.
At the beginning of this year, I thought I wanted to go into the scientific field. I still hope to go
into the electrical engineering field in college. I have now realized that I want to go into a field in
alternative energy. The Senior Project helped me to realize these goals. I believe I can help
alternative energy progress and become more cost-effective in the future.
I personally believe that the Senior Project does help students to find out their future career; on
the other hand, I believe that seniors have other affairs, such as college and AP classes, they need
to do that takes priority to the Senior Project. The Senior Project only helps to find out what the
student will inevitably find out for himself. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Josh Christopherson
