1. Music and Sound
Genre: Romantic Comedy
The sound used in Romantic Comedies, both diegetic and non-diegetic are often
bubbly and happy until the dilemma/problem occurs the music changes to sad
and emotional music to represent how the characters are feeling. It’s at the start
of the film they play bubbly, happy music. With non-diegetic the
producers/directors will pick a particular song that can portray what the film
can possibly relate to.
Clueless
The music used in this particular trailer is upbeat and features well known
songs. Using well know song describes the characters and the background of the
movie meaning the main character is a wild child. Using songs that are popular
attracts more than the target audience for the film, the target audience for the
song and the artist of the song would be interested in watching the film because
of the songs chosen will relate to their favourite genre of music and artists.
The music chosen appeals to the target audience because they have a clue on
what the setting for the film is and how the characters may act. The music chosen
may also be favourites of the target audience, which appeals to the audience
because they have their favourite songs featured in a film they are interested in.
The soundtrack features very well-known popular artists such as Gwen Stefani
and David Bowie.
