1. EVALUATION - INTERNSHIP AT A RADIO STATION
I have won an internship at a local radio station. For my first assignment I have been asked
to produce a short radio programme describing the extra-curricular opportunities that are
available to young students in a local school. The head of the radio station is really
interested in hearing from young people in person and they want me to include an interview
with a young pupil in my programme.
Before I begin I need to research other audio products in order to make sure that I am
suitable to take on the project. The head of the radio station has asked me to prepare a
pitch explaining my idea before I start recording. I will then need to write a brief for my
project and record my material in a group before we begin editing our programmes
individually.
The head of the radio station would like me to write a report evaluating the success of my
project to help him decide if I am suitable for further assignments.
Before I start my research, it will contain primary and secondary research; first of all I will
create questionnaires, for both teachers and students regarding extra-curricular activities.
That way I will know how many people think the activities are useful and beneficial. I will get
the chance to hear what the teachers and students think of this subject. After I complete
this I will then start with researching activities on local schools’ website.
With the information I gather I will conduct a table of my research methods that will
contain my primary & secondary research also the advantages and disadvantages. That way
people will know which one they’d prefer doing, when I complete it I will then do a words
document work stating what primary and secondary research is. I will then add the
qualitative and quantitative data’s and complete another separate table for it.
I’ll commence a research log for all of the information I gathered and display them in a table
and include the hyperlink and proof of where I obtained the activities from and also add the
list of activities and opportunities the students get and make sure that I list whether it’s
useful or not.
For my research methods I will add the pros and cons and state what type of data I use, I’ll
also add my research methods (internet search, library search, survey, focus groups,
questionnaires, interviews etc.). On Microsoft words I will produce eight types of broadcast
and two non-broadcast products and an audio formats table for my PowerPoint slide. For
the rest of the work i will finish the rest of my questionnaires in time for my radio broadcast
programme.
