The document outlines the planning and risk assessments for filming a student documentary at a college. Locations being considered for filming include staircases, classrooms, corridors, cafeterias, atriums, studios, and fields. Risks are identified for each location such as tripping, interrupting classes, or filming people without consent. Solutions to the risks are provided such as using handrails, filming during lessons, and filming in corners to avoid capturing people. A three day filming schedule is proposed along with scenes and shots included in a storyboard. The storyboard depicts scenes of student interviews, parkour, practical jokes between the students, and chasing across the field.
2. Locations-Risk assessments
• Staircase-We could trip over and fall down the stairs, or shatter our ankles when we land from jumping.
Someone could need to use the staircase whilst we are filming.
• Classroom- Someone might not be able to show up to filming. Or someone might fall over whilst entering
the room.
• Corridor(x4)- Someone could trip, or walk by and ruin the scene.
• Classroom 2-someone may need to use the classroom whilst we are filming.
• Cafeteria-There could be people in the cafeteria who don’t want to be filmed.
• Atrium-There could be people in the atrium who don’t want to be filmed.
• Studio-The studio could be booked.
• Field-There could be footballers on the the field.
• Seating area- There could be people in the seating area.
3. Locations-Risk Assessments solutions
• Staircase-Advise actors to use the handrail, observe stairs to identify any potential hazards.
• Classroom-Ensure the actors will show up to filming, and remove any and all tripping hazards from the room.
• Corridor(x4)-Remove or point out any and all trip hazards from the corridor. Film during lessons when the corridors are
not as busy, and if someone walks by we can just reshoot the scene.
• Classroom 2- Book the classroom in advance so you are able to use it for as long as you need.
• Cafeteria-Film during lessons when there are less people in the cafeteria. (Perhaps film in the corner of the room to avoid
getting people in the shot.)
• Atrium-Once again, we will film during lessons where there are less people around. And again, we will film in a corner so
there will be less people in the shot.
• Studio-Prebook studio so you can film for as long as you want.
• Field-Possibly film at any opportunity when there is no one on the field.
• Seating area-Film during lessons when there are on so no one will be using them.
4. Filming schedule
Day 1 (Tuesday)
• Film scenes 3-4 if possible. (The scenes in the seating area and
classroom.)
Day 2 (Thursday)
• Film scenes 1-2 (Harry interrupts teacher in the corridor, Sam
eats pizza, Ben drinks coke, interviews)
Day 3 (Friday)
• Film scenes 5-7 (Parkour scene, Ben gets the drink for Harry,
harry chases Ben.)
5. Storyboard
In the storyboard I have drawn
rough images of how my
scenes are going to play out.
The first shot is the opening
shot of the video, where the
teacher is giving a
monologue about what the
documentary will be showing
about college.
The next two shots are
interviews that give us an
introduction into what kind
of personalities our
characters have.
The scene of the next two
shots sort of resembles irony,
in that Sam is eating a pizza
with loads of random
condiments on it whilst Ben
is boasting about the health
of the students at college,
and then proceeds to drink a
coke.
The scene in the 6th frame is
the scene where Ben
discovers there is a coin in his
jelly.(The scene is a nod to
the infamous ‘stapler in jelly’
scene from both versions of
the office.)
6. Storyboard
In the scene in the first
shot Amy is lecturing the
boys on why it isn’t safe
put dirty objects in
peoples food, especially
during the pandemic.
Harry complains that they
are making a big deal out
of a joke and eventually
just walks out.
In scene 5 the boys
perform parkour stunts
around the college
building and it leads
them outside.
In the final two scenes
on the storyboard the
boys are walking back to
class when Harry asks
Ben to get him a drink.
In revenge for spoiling
his jelly earlier, Ben
spoils Harry’s drink.
Harry figures it out and
chases Ben across the
field while Sam watches.
This is the note the
video ends on.
