5. Do you H20 enough?
• Your body is 50-60% water. Drinking 6-8 glasses a day helps both
your body and brain function properly.
• Start the day with a cup of hot water with a good squeeze of fresh
lemon. Be kind to your digestion.
• Have a glass of cold water when you start to feel hungry. People
often confuse mild feelings of thirst with mild hunger.
• Drink water even when you don't feel thirsty; by the time you feel
thirsty your body has lost between 2 and 5 cups of water!
Our bodies communicate to us clearly and specifically, if we are willing to
listen to them.” ~Shakti Gawain
6. Clever little cooking tips..
• Plants wilt due to water loss. Re-pimp your fruit n
veg by dousing in icy water, it penetrates the
membranes and restores crispness.
• Don’t store tomatoes, peaches, potatoes, onion
or garlic in the fridge. Cold temps compromise
their flavour and texture.
• Soak dried lentils in sparkling water before
cooking, the bubbles open up the pores better
than plain water and you get less splitting.
7. Make your meat a treat..
• Pat meat dry before cooking. Surface moisture
creates steam when it hits a hot pan or grill
meaning the protein sweats rather than browns.
• Seal steaks and chops in a plastic bag and
immerse in tepid water for 30 mins to raise to
room temperature for a more even cook.
• Never overcrowd your pan, overloading the frying
pan makes food steam rather than caramelising
and no one likes soggy sausages!
