This study examined the relationship between foreign language education, academic performance, and socioeconomic status using data from 8th grade students. It found that taking foreign language courses had a positive impact on standardized test scores, and that this effect was greater for students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Higher levels of foreign language study led to even higher test scores, particularly in math and science.
