2. PE tube- Pressure Equalizing Tube Small tube placed in child’s eardrum to assist in drainage of trapped fluid and to equalize pressure between the middle ear cavity and the atmosphere

3. EENT- Eye Ear Nose &Throat

4. BC- Bone Conduction The conduction of sound to the inner ear through the bones of the skull Bone conduction headset

5. AU- Both Ears

6. OM- Otitis Media Seen frequently in children; commonly referred to as a middle ear infection

7. EM- Emmentropia State of normal vision

8. XT- Exotropia Outward turning of the eye; also called wall-eyed An example of muscle weakness of the eye

9. OS- Left Eye

10. EOM- Extraocular Movement Stand or sit 3 to 6 feet in front of the patient. Ask the patient to follow your finger with their eyes without moving their head. Check gaze in the six cardinal directions using a cross or "H" pattern. Check convergence by moving your finger toward the bridge of the patient's nose.

11. VA- Visual Acuity Test used to measure the sharpness of a patient’s vision Usually uses a Snellen chart (see left) Patient identifies letters from a distance of 20 feet
