Pangkalpinang to build integrated bus terminal

Pangkalpinang's municipal administration in Bangka­Belitung province is to build an integrated bus
terminal for city and interdistrict transportation.
"We plan to build the integrated bus terminal in Kampak Tua Tunu in Pangkalpinang," local
transportation office head Ridwan Damanik said Tuesday as quoted by Antara state news agency.
He said the construction of the terminal had been planned for a long time but it could not be realized
because of a shortage of funds and land­clearing problems.
"We need at least Rp5 billion [US$541,700] to build the integrated terminal with adequate facilities to
accommodate thousands of public transport vehicles," Ridwan said.
He expressed hope that, starting this year, the land­clearing problems could be solved and the project
begin to be implemented in stages.
"It will take at least two years to construct the terminal but we are optimistic that we will accomplish
it," Ridwan said.
