HERE ARE A FEW FACTS FOR EVERYBODY

1. Gujarat is one of the most prosperous states of the country, having a per-capita GDP
3.2 times India’s average.

2. If it was a nation it would have been 67th richest nation in the world above many
European and Asian economies like China and Ukraine .

3. Gujarat holds many records in India for economic development:
· 20% of India’s Industrial Output
· 9% of India’s Mineral Production
· 22% of India’s exports
· 24% of India’s textile production
· 35% of India’s pharmaceutical products
· 51% of India’s petrochemical production

4. The world’s largest ship breaking yard is in Gujarat near Bhavnagar at Alang.
Useless “criteria”. Bombay has the largest film industry in the world. What does it
mean? Nada.

5. Reliance Petroleum Limited, one of the group companies of Reliance Industries
Limited founded by Dhirubhai Ambani operates the oil refinery at Jamnagar which is the
world’s largest grass roots refineries .

So what? Tata Steel in Jamshedpur is the 6th largest private steel manufacturer in the
world. Also, IOC kicks Reliance’s ass and is placed 90 positions above Reliance
Industries (note: Not Reliance Petro) in Fortune (global) 500.

6. Gujarat ranks first nationwide in gas-based thermal electricity generation with national
market share of over 8% and second nationwide in nuclear electricity generation with
national market share of over 1%.

MH generates more Nuclear Power. And it is only 0.6% of India’s total generation.MH
also generates more thermal power; and double the Total power generation of Guj. AP
and TN also generate more power than Guj. Guj also trail MH in gas generation
capacity by almost 1400 MW

7. Over 20% of the S&P CNX 500 conglomerates have corporate offices in Gujarat.
Have you bothered finding how many of them are in Bombay? Give a comparative to
actually gauge Gujarat.

8. Over 35% of the stock market wealth of India is with Gujarati People.
Harshad Mehta. Lawyered

9. Over 60% of Indian Population in North America is Gujarati.
So what? Probably 90% of Indian Pop in the middle east is Keralites. Lawyered
10. An average income of a Gujarati family in North America is three times more than
the average income of an American family.
Again no comparative benchmark.

11. Gujarat is having the longest sea shore compared to any other Indian state
So what? Mumbai alone accounts for 40% of India’s maritime trade. Lawyered

12. Gujarat is having the highest no. of operating airports in India (Total 11).
Same as above. One airport in Mumbai probably makes up for the entire of Guj. If you
want to go anywhere imp, you have to first come to Bombay or Delhi. MH also has 2
international airports, just to split hairs.

13. India’s 26% of Investment are from Gujarat.
Elaborate.

14. Gujarat is having highest no. of vegetarian people compared to any other state in
India.
Is that somehow a measure of excellence? Go eat your dhokla.

15. The first ALL VEG PIZZA-HUT was opened in Ahmedabad

16. Ahmedabad – the commercial capital of Gujarat is the seventh largest city in India.
7th? Is that now suddenly a respectable position? What do you get for coming in 7th in
the Olympics? 7th in your class? 7th expedition into outer space?

17. Surat is the fourth fastest growing city in the world.

18. Gandhinagar is the Greenest Capital City in whole Asia.

19. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad(IIMA) is Asia’s 1 st and world’s 45th
ranked management college located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

20. Gujarat is the safest state as the Crime rate of it is 8.2 which is the least in India
even after considering 2002 communal riots, stated by India Today 2005 report.

21. Gujarat is having least crime against women among all Indian states (excluding
Goa) where AP is 1st, Delhi is 2nd , Bihar is 3rd ,Zarakhand is 4th and UP is 5th.

22. Ahmedabad which is the seventh largest city in India is the lowest in crime rate
among all Tier-I and Tier-II cities of India as per National Crime Records Bureau
(NCRB) report.

23. Ahmedabad is ranked 2nd in Real Estate - Ahead of Bangalore,Chennai,
Hyderabad, Mumbai & Delhi. 3rd in Policy Initiatives - Ahead of Bangalore, Chennai,
Calcutta, Mumbai & Delhi. 4th in Manpower - Ahead of Bangalore,Chennai, Mumbai &
Delhi.

@Aditya:

Bombay has no place to grow because it is FILLED TO THE BRIM with people that do
nothing to enhance its infrastructure. Don't get me started as to the plight of Bombay
owing to some parasitic quot;immigrantsquot;.

Gujarat having the first VEG pizza hut is nothing great. It just shows how bigoted,
narrow-minded and inflexible quot;gujjusquot; are, a point I raised earlier which you and your
brethren vehemently denied, calling me a quot;biasedquot;, english media quot;bredquot; ignoramus.
Thanks for making my point.

Anyway, just to prove my point as to how ridiculous your number dropping is, here are
some stats. (with the points they contradict at the start)

1.

You were right, partly, about per capita GDP. Guj had the highest for 05-06, at 16 ,
India's avg 12.1. But it might be helpful to look back at 04-05, when Manipur and Goa
had a PC GDP of 24.x and 21.x respectively with Guj at 9.5, below the natl. avg.

20, 22

I compared Andhra, Bihar, Guj, MH, Punjab and TN. The per-capita quot;incidence of crime
against womenquot; (which is Col 3/Col 5 from the source) was lowest in Bihar, with a little
over 8 incidents per lakh of its population. Gujarat was second worst in this list, with an
incidence of almost 15 (14.802) per one lakh people. If you are talking about perceived
safety, then that is not the same as actual safety, since how often crimes get reported,
the media coverage they receive has a lot to do with quot;perceptionquot;.

Source:

http://ncrb.nic.in/cii2007/cii-2007/Table%205.1.pdf

Let's get on with Human Rights Violations. If you follow

http://ncrb.nic.in/cii2007/cii-2007/Table%2016.2.pdf

you will notice that Gujarat was home t 1/3rd the reported quot;incidence of HRights
Violationsquot;, and over half the Human rights chargesheets in all of India.

On to crimes against Children.

http://ncrb.nic.in/cii2007/cii-2007/Table%206.1.pdf

MH was worst with almost 2.5 incidents per one lakh people, with Punjab and Guj,
following at almost 2 per one lakh. TN was the best of the lot with about 0.67 per one
lakh.

Crimes in Cities:

Bombay:

Incidents: 30481, Pop: 20+ Million I/P=1524

Gujarat: Incidents:17310 Pop: 5.2+ Million I/P= 3328

Points number 7,9,10,11,12,14,16,18,19,23 mean absolutely nothing.
