including a long awaited-for
search tool. At the top left
of the map, just below the
address search bar, is a mag-
nifying glass. This is the new
“Search Plats” tool. You can
search plats by type, name,
or cabinet and slide number.

The vacant lots in residential subdivisions in Georgetown are being absorbed at a
quickening rate. As of January 2015, there were 1,026 residential lots platted, vacant,
and ready for homes to be constructed. With building activity heating up, it is estimated
that the number of vacant lots will be reduced by about 300 this year. Don’t fear, how-
ever. According to our calculations, there remain 3,104 preliminarily approved but yet
to be platted lots in the city of Georgetown. One focus of the 2016 Comprehensive Plan
discussion will be determining how to ensure the availability and maintenance of infra-
structure to serve these residential lots, including a well-planned street and sidewalk net-
work, parks and green space, and stormwater drainage systems that are critical to mak-
ing these desirable neighborhoods that will continue to mature and not decline.
