Film poster analysis of films in the same genre as ours
1. Film poster analysis of a promotional poster of a film, within the same genre as our groups choice. Media A2 - Film poster analysis
2. The use of the colour pink emphasises that the film is based around females and is very female dominated. The use of fire, outlines a hint or danger and action that the film will include. Creates an idea in the audiences head that these girls are dangerous and deadly. The shape “A” that the fire creates links the shape and the title “Charlie’s Angels” in the audience's mind The use of the word “Angels” in the title is quite ironic as it quotes the girls as being angels, however these girls are spies and therefore are far from being angels. Also the name “Charlie” makes the audience wonder who Charlie is. Is he a man? Or is she one of the three girls as Charlie is a unisex name. By dressing the girls in black, it becomes a symbolism of stealth, secretes and sneakiness. By dressing the girls in tight outfits and getting them to pose in model poses, it shows off their sexy figures and makes the desirable, therefore appealing to the male audience. However, by using females as the main characters it would attract the female part of the target audience as not many films have three main characters as all women. By having the title all in capitals under the women it emphasises that these are strong, independent women.
3. The use of the colour black hints that there is some corruption and deceit within the film By dress this character in white with dark hair and dressing her rivalling character in black with blonde hair, its shows the difference between the two This character being in the centre of the poster between the two girls, shows he is the main connection between them but also that he may be only of the things they are fighting/ rivalling over By having both the female characters holding a gun behind both of their backs, it shows to use as an audience that there is more than just showbiz going on in this film and also that both of these women are possibly tow faced The use of the illuminated C in the background and also the title, shows the logo for the film and also the connection between the two images
4. By Tony being the only one sitting, it shows him in a position of power. Also by him being the only person inside the house, it shows how he is different from the rest of his “family” whether that be through power, responsibility, or mental status The expression on Tony’s face shows he is suffering from some distress (possibly guilt) and that it is his responsibility to deal with it The reflection of his psychiatrist in the window tells us as an audience that even though she isn’t part of the “family” and isn’t involved in their business, she is involved in a different way By all of these people being outside of the house it tells us as an audience that they are all inferior to Tony and are less important as characters compared to him
