Discussion:
How do tornadoes happen in the real world?
Tornadoes are whirling columns of air. They spin hundreds of km
per hour. It happens during thunderstorms and they come down
from cloud. Tornadoes come from supecells. Winds move in opposite
direction. Winds spin horizontally. Then, warm, wet humid air moves
upward to make thunderstorms. As it spins, the speed gets faster and
faster.
Tornadoes can be from 2 to 10km wide. The wind speed is 100 to
500 km per hour and they usually last then 10 min. Strong tornadoes
last up to 25 min.
