1. Natural Forces Reflection
WildWeather Experiments:
My favorite weather experiment was the lightning experiment because
lightning creates electricity from electrons and I didn’t know this
before. Some of the important things I learned about weather were that
all the natural disasters can be devastating.
If I did more experiments, I would like to know more about volcanoes.
Scientific Report Writing:
I wrote scientific reports about air pressure, the water cycle, static
electricity and length. The easiest section for me to write is the
hypothesis because it is easy for me to guess because I have watched
many experiments on the television. The hardest section for me to write
is discussion because it was hard to sum it all up in a paragraph and
explain the science clearly.I am proud of my science report on static
electricity because I could write a report all by myself without any
help. While writing these reports, I became better at explaining
scientific ideas.
Research:
The natural disaster I researched was avalanches.
During my research, I found it easy to record information from
websites, rather than on books.I found it difficult to find the pictures
that matched our script. I worked especially hard at trying to find the
best information.Compared with my last research task, I found this task
harder because we had to memorize our script without cards for the
camera. The best source of information was on
http://www.brainpop.com/science/earthsystem/avalanches/.
If I wrote my speech again, I would try to add more details to show my
scientific knowledge.
Delivering My Speech:
I am proud of my documentary because we actually memorized almost
everything by heart and this helped us make eye contact.
I worked especially hard at trying to memorize my speech on the
weekend.Next time I deliver a speech I will try to add more intonation
to my voice.
What else?
During this natural forces unit I especially enjoyed doing the weather
experiments. After this unit, I will continue to do research about more
natural disasters all around the world because they are really interesting
to me.
