Differences Between A Smoker And A Nonsmoker
When I was a little boy, I used to see a lot of people holding a little stuff, named Cigarette, and always had the curiosity to try or know it. But I have
luck of my parents have taught me that this stuff is unhealthy. There are big differences between a smoker and a nonsmoker, as example the different
life involving how the person behaves in his life or routine, the diseases generate by its frequent use, the cigarette addiction and treatment. The cigarette
is a small portion of dried tabaco and chopped that is wrapped in thin paper or corn stove for smoke. In a past three year, my grandpa used to smoke
a big quantity of cigarettes in a couple of hours, fortunately he forgot this drug and now he notices the differences between a smoker ... Show more

It is important to notice that the smokers routine has changes when the person uses the cigarette, its keep him more relax, smokers die early and
spend money with the cigarette and the time to recover from a illness. So, the nonsmokers do not have to concern about the routine changes
because they are away from the cigarette and its consequences. The changes in the routine, the time of life, spending money to buy a cigarette and
the longer time to recover from any illness are some examples of changes in how the person behaves when starts to smoke. The smoker when is
using this drug, it is able to get many diseases. One of the most tragic disease affecting smokers is cancer. Cancer of the throat and various other
parts of the body, all types of cancer are very painful. People who do not smoke are less susceptible to the adverse effects of smoking, which include
amongst various other affects, breathing, heart action, intestinal problems. Heart disease is yet another bane of regular non–smokers. As example, I
used to have a problem with the cigarette in my family. My grandpa and grandma started smoking because their parents gave to them when they were
seven years old. Three years ago, my grandma was feeling pain in her throat, so she went to the doctor and after a couple of exams, they identified a
cancer generated by the cigarette uses. For three years, she was fighting against this disease and

Smokers Persuasive Speech
Even with all the the warnings on cigarette packages that clearly state 'SMOKING KILLS' "tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause
of death and disease in the United States. Cigarette smoking kills more than 480,000 Americans each year, with more than 41,000 of these deaths from
exposure to secondhand smoke. ("Tips From Former Smokers" 2017) With it having such a negative impact on many Americans' health, many are
looking for a way to quit. Some important steps smokers can take to quit include going to therapy, using replacement for nicotine, and by keeping busy
and surrounding themselves with people who are non–smokers. By doing at least one or a combination of these strategies, a smoker can finally have a
chance at being able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going out, exercising and changing your normal routine can help you break the habit. While you keep yourself busy, it can be helpful to surround
yourself with people who are non–smokers. This way you are surrounded by people who will not encourage you to smoke or get you off track. And
paying attention to you triggers is also important. So if you know that after going to the bar with your friends you all smoke outside, try not going
to the bar with them, or find a way to stay inside the bar and keep busy. Or if you know that when you are stressed out you reach for a cigarette, find a
way to keep your hands busy to prevent you from doing so, such as by playing with a stress

Argumentative Essay On Smokers
As a smoker I know the dangers of smoking. From the harmful effects on the human body, to the resulting pollution and waste; smoking is a nasty and
lethal habit. We need a smoke–free world because smoking harms smokers, nonsmokers, and the environment. Smoking is a significant problem for
smokers. The problem is that tobacco products are the leading cause of preventable deaths. Did you know that 67% of smokers perish from smoking
–related illnesses? Tobacco smoke boosts the risk for 13 different types of cancer: lungs, esophagus, larynx, mouth, throat, kidneys, bladder, liver,
stomach, cervix, colon, rectum, and blood. Almost 70% of smokers want to quit, and around 43% try each year. However, many smokers don't have
the know–how or the willpower to kick the habit for good. Over two–thirds of smokers who quit for a short period of time will relapse and take up
smoking again. Smokers could involve themselves in behavioral therapy. Behavioral therapy involves working with a counselor to find ways not to
smoke. Together you'll find your triggers, emotions or situations that make you want to smoke, and explore options to get through the cravings. But the
danger isn't only for smokers, secondhand smoke can affect anyone.
Smoking pollution harms the environment. Many smokers believe smoking only damages their health. They are ignoring the fact that their smoking is
indirectly affecting others health. Smoking causes air pollution and to some extent also pollutes the ground; even

Mrs. Smith As A Smoker Case Study
Mrs. Smith is a 75 year old female who is experiencing concerns of becoming out–of–breath while going up the stairs to her apartment. I would ask
questions and conduct an assessment with her concerns and take note if there is an elevator in her building. I would be asking her questions about her
past and current health. Was she a smoker? Does she still Smoke? Has she seen her Doctor? Does she have asthma? Does she have inhalers? With the
signs of Shortness of breath there are many possibilities that could contribute. My immediate assumption would be a health promotion for COPD with

Role Of Macula In Smokers
One of the risk factors that are important in developing systemic and ocular vascular diseases is cigarette smoking1. It is known that smoking is
especially associated with anatomical alterations of the arterial system including an increase in arterial wall thickness and atherosclerosis, both in the
microvasculary and macrovasculary structures2,3.
Although the exact pathogenesis is not identified yet, it is known that smoking can cause a decrease in the retinal blood flow4–6. smoking may affect
macular functions through impaired choroidal circulation5, decreased perfusion pressure7, toxicity to the neurosensory retina, and/or to the retinal

Disease Model: Weed Smokers And Alcohol
Unit 1 Application Assignment Disease Model I don't agree with the "Gateway Theory" only because I have friends and family who are
professional weed smokers and they have been that way since their late teens. Until this day most of them still only smoke weed and don't take
part in dealing with any other drugs. I feel if weed or alcohol was a gateway drug that leads to using stronger and/or more illegal drugs, then we would
see this happening to most weed smokers and alcohol drinkers but we don't. I support the "Disease Model Theory" because it makes more sense and
leans closer to what I've experienced in my life. I feel a person wanting to use stronger drugs is physiological and not a physical craving. But I also feel
that peer pressure plays

Smokers Vs Old Smoke Cigarettes
The CDC reports that 46 million Americans age 18 or older smoke cigarettes. Smoking for teens may be worst than adults that smoke. When teens
smoke, it stunts their growth and development. Adults on the other hand are already developed but it stills wrecks their body. When a person starts
smoking at a younger age, they will start to age more and your health will become worst as they get older. Cigarettes and other tobacco products cost a
lot. If a smoker is up to a pack a day, it will most likely cost about $2,777.65 per year. Any smoker should know thatsmoking can cost them their looks
and money, but most importantly their health. Cigarettes contain a lot of chemicals but the tar is the main chemical that will ruin the lungs. Smokers

High School Smokers
Tobacco use causes chronic lung disease and disability in most cases. There are more than 2.8 million smokers under the age of 18 in the US, and 3.4
million high–school students are current smokers. In addition to the health problems caused by tobacco use, young smokers are more likely to use
alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine. Nicotine abstinence programs for high–school students have been proposed as a response. The transtheoretical model
of change predicts that smokers will go through a series of stages leading up to quitting: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, and action. In the
precontemplation stage, smokers do not think their behavior is problematic and have no intention of changing. In the contemplation and preparation

There are environmental and personal variables that affect readiness to change and can lead to progress or relapse. These variables include smoking
history, demographic variables and alcohol use, reasons for quitting, and psychosocial variables pertaining to peers, adults, coping, rebelliousness,
and antismoking attitudes. For a smoker to progress from stage to stage, the appropriate process variables must be applied to that stage. This model
was applied to young smokers, and it revealed that there were percentages of smokers in all stages. The researchers conducted a survey of 698 local
high–school students that measured behaviors and attitudes concerning tobacco and alcohol use and created a study that focused on nonpunitive
treatment and a caring group leader. The school resource officer and school administrators took on the authoritarian role. Treatment A involved three
group sessions that educated participants about the problems associated with tobacco use through lectures, videos, demonstrations, and cooperative
learning. Treatment B involved three interactive learning sessions that included participation in a small group activity, visiting a pulmonary
rehabilitation facility, and a one–to–one

a necessary component of the interview between the patient and provider in order to determine this diagnosis (Pignone & Salazar, 2018).
–Therapeutic interventions: There are five steps to help a patient stop smoking, which are listed in the following: ask to identify smoking status at
every visit, advise all smokers to quit, identify smokers who are open to make a cessation attempt, assist the patient to stop, and arrange a follow up.
It is important that the provider refrain from expressing disapproval of patients who did not currently wish to stop smoking (Pignone & Salazar, 2018).

In our general public today, interest is being struck on the motivation behind why cannabis smokers tend to slack off or turn out to be less propelled
versus a non pot smoker who is said not to encounter the same side effects. It is said that the more frequent smokers of marijuana tend to become
less motivated throughout their everyday life. Marijuana is said to affect your mentality by releasing a chemical called dopamine in your brain which
is said to be the cause of this decrease in motivation. Despite its positive effects on people who are suffering from an specific illness.Marijuana is

information about the perspectives of college–age smokers. Studies are done in subjugation of smokers to understand what may influence this
unhealthy behavior, as in all psychology: understanding the root and trigger of a problem may bring the solution. This study has specifically focused on
the college–age population of smokers in an aim to understand the cause and cessation of smoking cigarettes. In result, the study has concluded that
college–age smokers are in their prime to be influenced by their environment into either picking up smoking as a habit or putting it down. The study
had strong uses of qualitative questioning in the interviews, which allowed for adequate descriptive responses to be taken. However, one of the
weakness of this study would be the limited sample size. The subjects in question of this study is the smoking habit of 40 undergraduates in American

Subject: Tennessee's Non Smoker Protection Act
Date: November 12, 2017 Policy Background
In 2007, Tennessee, one of the largest tobacco–producing state in the United States endorsed the Non–Smoker Protection Act (NSPA) that banned
smoking in enclosed areas in Tennessee with some exceptions ("Information for Employers", n.d.). The law went into effect on June 11, 2007 and
municipalities had to observe it no longer than October 1, 2007. This law was enforced by the Tennessee Department of Health. In 2006, Tennessee
ranked 5th in the highest percentage of current smokers among the 50 states (Bauer & L, 2008). The Tennessee legislature recognizedsmoking in public
places as a public health problem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raising taxes on tobacco products and implementing smoking cessation legislations can minimize the prevalence of smoking up to 30 percent to 80
percent over a 50–year period (Ekpu & Brown 2015).In 2009, NBC news stated that Kansas, one of the states, considering banning smoking at enclosed
areas showed that if they banned smoking in restaurants, the state was going to save 20 million dollars in healthcare costs (Associated Health, 2009).
West Virginia state implemented smoke–free laws and had an increase of almost 1 percent in restaurant employment ("Smoke Free Laws do not Harm
Business," 2017). Restaurant workers were more comfortable coming in to work knowing they would be breathing in fresh air. Although in
Tennessee, percentage of adults who smoked in 2011 increased from 23 percent to 24.3 percent in 2015 (Fletcher, 2016). This increment was not that
significant considering the fact that it was over a period of just 4 years. The annual health care cost in Tennessee directly to smoking increased from
$2.16 billion in 2004 to $2.67 billion in 2017("The Toll of Tobacco in Tennessee", n.d.).
Tennessee's smoke ban was enacted not too long ago and it was too early to see a major reduction health cost considering the fact that the state was
and is one of the top producers of tobacco in the country. The increase in health care cost could potentially be

Active Smokers in Indonesia
There are a lot of smokers in the world. In Indonesia, the number of these smokers is really surprising. There are over 60 million people active
smokers in this country (Faizal, 2012). "In Jakarta, smokers are the kings. Go to any coffee shop – or any other public place, really – and you'll easily
spot people smoking in a room that has an obvious "no–smoking" sign" (Barley, 2011). It will be no surprise if the non–smokers are the minority in this
city. Although horrifying impacts of smoking are clearly written on the cover of everycigarette packages, it seems that the active smokers does not
really care about the advertising, as the number of active smokers are very high. There are two types of smokers. The first is the active smokers
and the second is the passive smokers. The active smokers are then broken down into 7 types of smokers. The first is the Skinny Smoker. The skinny
smokers are those people who thinks that they can lose and maintain their skinny weight just by smoking. Moreover, skinny smokers are trapped with
the idea that once they stop smoking, it would make them gain weight. The next type of smokers are the Sneaky smokers; who smoke when their
family or friends are not around. They tend to be ashamed to smoke in front of people. Third is the Rebel Smokers, they smoke because its unhealthy
and against the rules. Fourth is the Social Smokers, these types of smokers are those people who smoke only in certain situation, for example at parties,

The Pros And Cons Of Black Smokers
In the deep sea resides black smokers, which are hydrothermal vents. Black smokers form from tectonic plates meeting and this creates a mineral laden
fluid, iron sulfide, hence the "black smoke". This water permeates through the earth's crust, boils, and dissolves rock, reacting and creating bubbling,
nutritious water. Only few organisms can live in the cold, deep, and empty environment where these Black smokers exists. These microbes are called
extremophiles and rely on chemosynthesis, a process where an organism absorbs chemical energy from mineral–rich processes. These extremophiles,
also known as archaebacteria, are an important food source for certain sea life like the yeti crab and sometimes have a symbiotic relationship with
larger organisms. Discovering more of these microbes could further society as we could find more on other planets and their resistance to extreme
environments can be studied by bioengineers. These hydrovents are also more concentrated than mines above the sea, which could potentially provide
a cause for underwater sea mining. Such reserves are not only looked upon as a new mining source, but also a renewable mining source since these
chimneys are capable of regenerating over time. Taking advantage of hydrovents would expand the mining industry and provide more jobs for society,

Other than that, a different literature that formed part of a longitudinal randomized controlled trial examined the efficacy of MI, CBT and NRT
compared to standard smoking cessation treatment among people with a mental disorders found that it is useful to expect interest from patients, as
many being at the contemplation and action stages (Baker, Richmond, Haile, Lewin & Carr et al., 2007). It is possibly very valuable for general
practitioners or other health care workers to encourage patient to consider quitting, ask patient's reasons for quitting then focus on motivational
interventions. There is a need to target young people for smoking cessation interventions. This of course is looking at stopping the progression early.
Targeting those at risk for abusing other substances, and address patient's lifestyle factors (stress and boredom) can probably improve smoking
cessation rates and provide a better quality of life. Health care workers need to give appropriate pharmacological interventions for nicotine dependence,
involve GPs to conduct smoking cessation interventions and consider training mental health care workers in interventions for smoking cessation as
these would benefit patients as well as the health care system as the burden of disease is lessen (Baker, Richmond, Haile, Lewin & Carr et al., 2007).

Her use of key elements such as diction, the use of imagery, and the tone all are huge factors in her style. Khazan uses the words "stress" and
"temperament" to include in her diction, how parents almost always have a reason for punishing children, in their own eyes (Khazan "No spanking,
No problem"). Having lots of stress and having a bad temperament can definitely be a reason behind parents punishing their children, and Khazan
using this diction in her article helps impact her physiological approach by saying that parents' own problems cause them to take it out on children by
punishing them for bad behaviour, and not really gaining anything from it. Khazan also uses numerous examples of imagery in her article that
supports the style and her physiological approach by giving the audience a feel of a real life situation in which they punish, or think of punishing their
children. For example, in her article she talks about being a mother who physically punishes her children makes them "less warm and affectionate",
painting a picture in the audience's head of a child and their mother becoming more distant in the future and appearing less loveable due to the abuse the
child once received (Khaz"No Spanking, No Problem). The tone of the author throughout the article proves very persuasive, as Khazan lists of many
disadvantages of disciplining children, and examples of the proper steps parents

Should The Smokers Be Quit Smoking?
Today 17.8% of Americans are smokers either currently quitting, struggling to quit, or do not want to quit smoking at all. There are many health
warning messages on the packs, but we wonder, why do people still take the risk to smoke? A new solution to this problem that is being advertised,
and is becoming popular amongst people is a product called Blu. Blu is known as an electronic cigarette that contains no tobacco, getting rid of the bad
part to real cigarettes, however the product still contains nicotine which is the addictive part to cigarettes. This product is intended for smokers ages 18
and up to give them a better option to continue smoking without the horrible smell that comes out of the "death sticks". What this advertisement is
trying to accomplish is that they want current smokers to make the switch to Blu without actually quitting permanently. However after learning more
about this product I believe that is not the only reason to switch to Blu because since this product contains lesser ingredients than a real cigarette, it's a
lot healthier option for smokers even smokers who are trying to quit, and I believe Blu is another solution on how to cut down.
While looking at a billboard, magazine article, or the internet containing this advertisement the first part that a person's eyes will be drawn to is the logo

The heart rate was expected to increase during exercise for smokers. However, the average heart rate at peak work rate for smokers was 170 beats per
minute, while for non– smokers the average heart rate was about 179 beats per minute. According to the p–value of .333, there was no significant
difference between the average heart rates for these two groups. Similarly, the p–value of .674 indicates that there is no significant difference for
average stroke volume at peak work rates between the two groups. Based on a study conducted between healthy smokers and non–smokers, the
smokers had a higher heart rate during exercise than non–smokers [7]. The results don't support the hypothesis as well as the study due to the subjects
chosen. The smokers that participated in this study exercised regularly, and some exercised between 5–10 hours a week. Therefore, these athletic
smokers might on average have a lower heart rate than normal, which might have reduced the effects of smoking in general. By exercising consistently
every week, the left ventricle in the heart begins to thicken and becomes more muscular. As the cavity of the heart enlarges, the heart can hold more
blood and therefore during each contraction the heart can pump more blood with each beat. As a result, a lower heart rate becomes sufficient to deliver

What is the benefit of being a non–smoker versus a smoker? People who do not smoke overall have better health on the inside and out. Smokers have
higher risk for getting cancer, they have a higher chance of going bald or getting gray hair, they also have a greater risk of becoming ill due to blood
clots or having additional stomach issues.
What are several of the benefits nonsmokers have over people who smoke regularly? Nonsmokers usually have overall less chances of getting lung
cancer. Men who smoke currently, but not heavily, have a 15.9% chance of gettinglung cancer (Lung Cancer). However, men who are considered
heavy smokers have a 24.4% chance (Lung Cancer) . The men who are considered heavy smokers smoke more than five cigarettes

Smoking is a risk factor for many diseases including lung cancer, chronic lung cancer and other cancers. 90% of cases of lung cancer are attributed
to smoking (Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, 2013). Additionally, smoking increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases in
women and men aged between 35 and 69 (Owing, 2005). Smoking accounts for 25% and 30% of cases all cardiovascular diseases in young adults in
the America and Britain respectively. This number is big when compared toHong Kong which as 12%. 15% to 20% of all cases of cancer are caused
by smoking in both the America and Britain (Gilman and & Zhou, 2004). Smoking causes 75% of cases of chronic cancer including emphysema and
bronchitis. Smoking increases the risk of lung diseases as it damages the airway and alveoli. In other words, the rate of morbidity in both America
and Britain as a result of smoking is very high and this is why the two countries have taken the habit very serious by treating all smokers as social
pariahs (Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, 2013).
In as much as there is a big difference in attitude to smoking in the America and Britain with attitudes in Hong Kong, there are also several similarities
between the same. First, the attitudes are the same when it comes to the need of stipulating measures of dealing with the practice. Policies

from low birthweight to death. When a child dies due to unexpected reasons, we call it SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Unfortunately, there
are no signs or symptoms associated with SIDS but removing cigarette smoke can reduce the risk upwards 80%.
The dangers of cigarette smoke does not end with the smoker. In–fact, there are two separate types of exposure; second and third hand. Secondhand
exposure occurs when someone else breaths in air released from the cigarette.
Since 1964 approximately 2.5 million non–smokers have died from problems associated with secondhand smoke. Studies have shown that secondhand
smoke affects over a million children everyday. Some of the dangers associated with this exposure include ear infections, respiratory problems and
tooth decay. In–fact, many smokers believe that smoking outside can prevent this exposure, when in all actuality it does not. ... Show more content on

For many people third–hand smoke is seen more than secondhand smoke. Third–hand smoke is the residual nicotine and unthought–of chemicals that
stick around. This smoke can build up on hair, skin, furniture, curtains, walls, and so much more. This shows us that touch, inhalation, and ingestion are
all ways someone can be affected by cigarettes. The worst thing is normal cleaning products will not touch it. So how does one protect those around
them? They create a smoke free environment and stick to it!
Smoking affects not only yourself but others around you including your pets. Research has shown that secondhand smoke exposure can lead to cancer,
allergies, and respiratory problems like lung cancer. Ultimately, leaving those innocent animals in as much risk as their human

Richardson, A., Niaura, R. S., Vallone, D. M., and Abrams, D. B wrote a journal article on American Journal of Public Health in 2012 and conducted
an online survey to find out the awareness of e–cigarettes among people. The result is that most people have heard of e–cigarettes, which are used by
millions of smokers. They think e–cigarettes are less harmful than normal cigarettes, but they consume more e–cigarettes with that interpretation. I can
use the source to prove that most people are aware of e–cigarettes and young adults are more likely to smoke e–cigarettes. Even though e–cigarettes
have less toxic contaminants, they are still harmful to humans' health. E–cigarettes are better than tobaccos; however, they can still harm one's health if
he or she consumes e–cigarettes too much. The Rise of E–Cigarettes: Harmful or Harm–Reducing?. (2015). RT: The Journal for Respiratory Care

The Influence Of Media On Young Smokers
For part 2 of my english course, I studied how media could have an educational, ideological influence on the audience. A recent social issue is the
rising number of young smokers. Inspired by this, I decided to write a screenplay about a young chainsmoker – Aria. The target audience of this
screenplay includes smokers in their teens to early thirties. The screenplay shows the inner turmoil that Aria goes through when she is realising the
repercussions of making bad choices. She remembers her youth and her choices, and has to choose between her desires to smoke and her ambition
which urges her to choose the right path. Also, she realises that the choices she makes right now, influences her adulthood. This leads her to seek help
and quit smoking.

Smokers Vs. Expensive Cigars
Many people consider the aroma of a lighted cigar to be a welcome scent, unlike the stench of many of the cigarettes on the market. There will be
some variation between the expensive cigars and the less costly ones, however, that does not necessarily mean that it won't be appreciated. Cigars
are not for everyone but those who choose to burn a cigar have very specific reasons for doing so. Most cigar smokers will tell you that there is a
particular art to burning a cigar and if it is not followed they might be inclined to say something about it to the inexperienced smoker.
The way it wasIn a world where smoking cigarettes seem to be gradually becoming a thing of the past it is interesting to note that cigars are still
very popular. Some smokers consider the cigar as part of a tradition that has been handed down through the years by family members. These smokers
will agree that they continue the tradition as a way to relax and unwind. There are times when they will look for expensive cigars just to say they had
the best. Some of these cigar smokers admit that they consider smoking cigars to be a hobby for them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inexperienced smokers might be willing to support their habit from the corner store. Smokers who have been engaged in the practice for a while
will be inclined to take their business to more experienced outlets like mydiscountcigar. Cigars come in a few different strengths, however, the biggest
attraction to cigars is the flavors. The variety of available flavors makes it a top priority for smokers to keep coming back until they have tried them

Using Nazi Tactics Against Smokers
Using Nazi Tactics Against Smokers
Prior to the 1930s, Germany was Europe's most hospitable country for Jews. While Jews were only one percent of the population, they were
one–fourth of Germany's law and medical students. In some German cities, Jews were the majority of doctors. While Jews were only five percent of
the Berlin population in 1905, they paid 31 percent of all income taxes collected. For Germany as a whole, Jewish income was more than three times the
national average. In his book, Migration and Cultures, Dr. Thomas Sowell adds that Jews were so highly integrated into German economic andsocial
life that in nearly half of all Jewish marriages during the 1920s one of the spouses was Gentile. During World War I,... Show more content on

In the state of Washington, a condemned prisoner was denied a last request for a cigarette. Last summer, California banned smoking in some of its
prisons.
During a much more civilized era in our country, none of this could have happened. Nazi–like vilification tactics had to be employed whereby decent
Americans were convinced that both smokers and tobacco companies are two groups of people deserving of any treatment.
I'm by no means suggesting that smokers are headed off to concentration camps and gas chambers, although they might have in Germany because Hitler
was a rabid anti–cigarette zealot. Instead, I'm suggesting that the cigarette smoker vilification campaign is something about which we all should be
concerned, whether we smoke cigarettes or not. These people who want to control our lives are almost finished with smokers; but never in history has a
tyrant arisen one day and decided to tyrannize no more. The nation's tyrants have now turned their attention to the vilification of fast food chains such
as McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's and Kentucky Fried Chicken, charging them with having created an addiction to fatty foods. Thus, the tyrants
claim, fast food chains have contributed to obesity–related problems and growing healthcare costs. Like the anti–tobacco zealots they call for
regulation, compensation for injury and taxes on foods they deem to be non–nutritious. In

Worlds Future Smokers
The worlds future smokers. What do you see when you look at this picture? Do you see tobacco wrapped in crayon wrappers, the same crayon
wrappers that are usually wrapped the with actual crayons, that your child may play with? Those bright colors are a clear sign that tobacco use is
introduced at a very early age even if not intentional. What many people see when they look at this picture is the saddening future of what the new
generations are faced with in today's day and age. The influence of tobacco starts an early age for some adolescents and becomes a familiar face and
regular routine by the time they are in their early teens. The importance of this matter is something that is often look passed upon and never spoken
about until the end and sadly that's too late for some people. This advertisement shows how easy it is for young adults and children to "normalize"
the use of tobacco and symbolizes society's "norms" of the young population. Many people start this horrible habit because of stress, personal issues
and even second hand smoke in most cases. This means children who grow up around a family member or loved one who smokes are three times

Nicotine: The Use Of Smokers To Quit Smoking
Nicotine is a poisonous substance in tobacco that makes it difficult for people to stop smoking cigarettes. A good amount of youth today are starting to
use this product based on advertisement or the pressure to fit in. For example, nicotine companies are making commercials, using social media and
making candy versions of this product in order to attract attention especially from teens. Advertisements and new products are things that companies
use to become popular. If teens try it and enjoy it he/she will keep doing it. That's why tobacco companies are targeting the youth, to make them become
addicted and this way they make money.

Should Smokers Pay Health Taxes or No?
Essay 3: Should smokers pay health taxes or no?
Minh Anh Nguyen

Smoking is something that happens every day in our life. People can easily find someone smoking in some street corners, even in public places like
train station, hospital, dormitory. It is not strange if you cross the road and see a mom who is enjoying her cigarette in front of her child. It is a kind
of action that has become a part of our society and it accidentally makes people think that smoking is normal and it is just a habit and people do not
feel like they have to stop it. Even some people are aware of the negative impacts of smoking they still ignore it and let it happen. People used to have

So why nonsmokers and smokers pay the same taxes while smokers can enjoy their cigarettes but nonsmokers have to suffer many diseases as a
second hand smokers? At this point is it even fair to treat nonsmokers like that? By making smokers pay for health taxes and even raise the taxes if
they keep smoking, people are supporting the nonsmokers in human community. Why does it make sense? It would make smokers be responsible
and pay for the inconvenience they have caused, for people who are living and working with them that they harm with their smoking. The
consequences of smoking are not something new to people. Some of you still think that it is not that much dangerous as people are smoking
everywhere and every day? Smoking causes 1 in every 5 deaths in the US every year, which was revealed by Centers for disease control and
prevention (n.d). If it is not shock enough, here is the research that has been revealed by BBC NEWS (1999), which is every cigarette you smoke
reduces your expected life span by 11 minutes. Smoking also makes the risk of a heart attack 200% to 400% greater than that of nonsmokers
(Kurzweil & Grossman, n.d). In developing countries, patients are asking more from health services. "The problem has been increasing, as the number

Smokers Right To Civil Rights
This author creates an invalid analogy when he compares smokers' right to the civil right sought by Black in the 1950s and 60's. In an attempt to
convince that smokers are being discriminated that smokers are a potential "target of violent antismoker and overzealous public enforces." There are
several problems that gave this argument invalid. First, smoking in public area put other people other on risk and that is why they are being
discriminated. The discrimination against black people is just plain cruelty because the white taught of them as less because of their skin color. While
smoking it puts other in danger, therefore, they don't approve of people smoking especially in public area. Second, the civil right movement was to

Buying An Outdoor Smoker Industry
Since both of these alternatives are mutually exclusive only one alternative will be chosen. The alternative that involved purchasing an outdoor
smoker predicted a NPV of about negative six hundred thirty six thousand and twenty seven thousand dollars. Well the alternative that involved
purchasing an outdoor grill predicted a NPV of approximately one million nine hundred seventy thousand and fifty six dollars. Based on these net
present values the alternative of purchasing an outdoor grill would be recommended. This is due to the fact that the NPV for this alternative was
positive, well the other alternatives NPV was negative. When choosing investment projects based on the NPV a positive value is always choose
over a negative value. If the alternatives where independent of each other and the funding was available it would be advised to choose the outdoor
grill. It has been proven that the investment involving the outdoor grill will be profitable and will generate a NPV larger than the initial investment,
which would result in potential profit. But the investment involving the outdoor smoker produced a negative NPV given the initial requirements, so
in order for this to be profitable alterations need to be made in order to generate a positive NPV. The discount rate will need to be altered in order to
generate a positive NPV for the outdoor smoker. If the discount rate is decreased slightly from almost sixteen percent to thirteen percent this will

For most company's wellness plans have to allow for time off for doctor's visits and appointments. This requires additional time off if in fact the

doctor's visits and receiving physicals, doing online health assessments and joining programs through the employer. During your physicals if the
blood pressure, cholesterol, weight and height are what is deemed to be good then you will receive points for your program. If you don't smoke
you receive more points, if you are enlisted in a gym routine you receive more points and so on. There also entails another question and that is who
has time for that? However, if you are one of the lucky ones who in fact has the time to achieve all of your points you are awarded with your points
for the year. This means that for the entire year that you are in a wellness program your premium will remain the same until the following year, when

The Effects Of Smoking Cigarettes On The Health Of Smokers
Tobacco smoke attitudes are a significant risk not only to the health of smokers but to those who involuntary inhale the tobacco smoke of others.
Smoking increases the risk of lung cancer and heart disease. Smoking cigarettes is a proven factor in raising the risk of having a heart attack, stroke
disease, broncho–pulmonary diseases and poses risks in pregnancy to the unborn child. Tobacco smoking raises overall medical costs, decreases life
expectancy and adds to loss of efficiency during the lifetime of an individual which can also lead to premature death.
My target group were students from London Metropolitan University age 18 to 25, four male and six female. The majority of this age group tend to

factors. Advertising stood out as the main risk factors for continuing to smoke, as they were motivated by the desire to know how it feels to smoke.
Smoking starts and escalates among university students. Stress associated with the change to the experiences of university life may trigger the risk of

Smokers : Scapegoats Or Drama Queens?
Smokers: Scapegoats or Drama Queens? In "I'd Rather Smoke than Kiss," the author Florence King expresses her disdain towards this new wave of
hatred that has surged against smokers. King views these attacks on smokers as an outlet for Americans to demonstrate who they truly are without
being judged. First of all, King labels all of those who hate smokers as "smokists" (Allyn and Bacon 315). Smokists hide behind this flourishing
concept of "passive smoking" (315) in order to freely express their intolerance towards smokers without any obvious repercussions. Smokists do not
care for what smokers might think they just seek their own well being, thus King views them as practitioners of a "sadistic brutality" (316). This group
of misanthropes portrays smokers as uneducated and disgusting individuals that only inspire the vilest of emotions from the rest of the superior
Americans. Therefore, many of the smokist's campaigns only inspire that.
Furthermore, King throughout the piece mocks and ridicules those who strongly oppose smoking. She reminds the reader of the emptiness and lack of
creativity that is found in their arguments. King also points out how they try to accomplish this enormous feat of destroying the tobacco companies by
creating connections between rather mundane occurrences of the everyday life and smoking.
In addition, King also talks about how beneficial smokers are. How the benefits they provide awaken "a tender concern" (316) from the government.

Differences Between A Smoker And A Nonsmoker

  • 1. Differences Between A Smoker And A Nonsmoker When I was a little boy, I used to see a lot of people holding a little stuff, named Cigarette, and always had the curiosity to try or know it. But I have luck of my parents have taught me that this stuff is unhealthy. There are big differences between a smoker and a nonsmoker, as example the different life involving how the person behaves in his life or routine, the diseases generate by its frequent use, the cigarette addiction and treatment. The cigarette is a small portion of dried tabaco and chopped that is wrapped in thin paper or corn stove for smoke. In a past three year, my grandpa used to smoke a big quantity of cigarettes in a couple of hours, fortunately he forgot this drug and now he notices the differences between a smoker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to notice that the smokers routine has changes when the person uses the cigarette, its keep him more relax, smokers die early and spend money with the cigarette and the time to recover from a illness. So, the nonsmokers do not have to concern about the routine changes because they are away from the cigarette and its consequences. The changes in the routine, the time of life, spending money to buy a cigarette and the longer time to recover from any illness are some examples of changes in how the person behaves when starts to smoke. The smoker when is using this drug, it is able to get many diseases. One of the most tragic disease affecting smokers is cancer. Cancer of the throat and various other parts of the body, all types of cancer are very painful. People who do not smoke are less susceptible to the adverse effects of smoking, which include amongst various other affects, breathing, heart action, intestinal problems. Heart disease is yet another bane of regular non–smokers. As example, I used to have a problem with the cigarette in my family. My grandpa and grandma started smoking because their parents gave to them when they were seven years old. Three years ago, my grandma was feeling pain in her throat, so she went to the doctor and after a couple of exams, they identified a cancer generated by the cigarette uses. • 2. Smokers Persuasive Speech Even with all the the warnings on cigarette packages that clearly state 'SMOKING KILLS' "tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of death and disease in the United States. Cigarette smoking kills more than 480,000 Americans each year, with more than 41,000 of these deaths from exposure to secondhand smoke. ("Tips From Former Smokers" 2017) With it having such a negative impact on many Americans' health, many are looking for a way to quit. Some important steps smokers can take to quit include going to therapy, using replacement for nicotine, and by keeping busy and surrounding themselves with people who are non–smokers. By doing at least one or a combination of these strategies, a smoker can finally have a chance at being able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going out, exercising and changing your normal routine can help you break the habit. While you keep yourself busy, it can be helpful to surround yourself with people who are non–smokers. This way you are surrounded by people who will not encourage you to smoke or get you off track. And paying attention to you triggers is also important. So if you know that after going to the bar with your friends you all smoke outside, try not going to the bar with them, or find a way to stay inside the bar and keep busy. Or if you know that when you are stressed out you reach for a cigarette, find a way to keep your hands busy to prevent you from doing so, such as by playing with a stress ... • 3. Argumentative Essay On Smokers As a smoker I know the dangers of smoking. From the harmful effects on the human body, to the resulting pollution and waste; smoking is a nasty and lethal habit. We need a smoke–free world because smoking harms smokers, nonsmokers, and the environment. Smoking is a significant problem for smokers. The problem is that tobacco products are the leading cause of preventable deaths. Did you know that 67% of smokers perish from smoking –related illnesses? Tobacco smoke boosts the risk for 13 different types of cancer: lungs, esophagus, larynx, mouth, throat, kidneys, bladder, liver, stomach, cervix, colon, rectum, and blood. Almost 70% of smokers want to quit, and around 43% try each year. However, many smokers don't have the know–how or the willpower to kick the habit for good. Over two–thirds of smokers who quit for a short period of time will relapse and take up smoking again. Smokers could involve themselves in behavioral therapy. Behavioral therapy involves working with a counselor to find ways not to smoke. Together you'll find your triggers, emotions or situations that make you want to smoke, and explore options to get through the cravings. But the danger isn't only for smokers, secondhand smoke can affect anyone. Smoking pollution harms the environment. Many smokers believe smoking only damages their health. They are ignoring the fact that their smoking is indirectly affecting others health. Smoking causes air pollution and to some extent also pollutes the ground; even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would ask questions and conduct an assessment with her concerns and take note if there is an elevator in her building. I would be asking her questions about her past and current health. Was she a smoker? Does she still Smoke? Has she seen her Doctor? Does she have asthma? Does she have inhalers? With the signs of Shortness of breath there are many possibilities that could contribute. My immediate assumption would be a health promotion for COPD with education. It is known that smoking is especially associated with anatomical alterations of the arterial system including an increase in arterial wall thickness and atherosclerosis, both in the microvasculary and macrovasculary structures2,3. Although the exact pathogenesis is not identified yet, it is known that smoking can cause a decrease in the retinal blood flow4–6. smoking may affect macular functions through impaired choroidal circulation5, decreased perfusion pressure7, toxicity to the neurosensory retina, and/or to the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE)8,9. • 6. Disease Model: Weed Smokers And Alcohol Unit 1 Application Assignment Disease Model I don't agree with the "Gateway Theory" only because I have friends and family who are professional weed smokers and they have been that way since their late teens. Until this day most of them still only smoke weed and don't take part in dealing with any other drugs. I feel if weed or alcohol was a gateway drug that leads to using stronger and/or more illegal drugs, then we would see this happening to most weed smokers and alcohol drinkers but we don't. I support the "Disease Model Theory" because it makes more sense and leans closer to what I've experienced in my life. I feel a person wanting to use stronger drugs is physiological and not a physical craving. But I also feel that peer pressure plays ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When teens smoke, it stunts their growth and development. Adults on the other hand are already developed but it stills wrecks their body. When a person starts smoking at a younger age, they will start to age more and your health will become worst as they get older. Cigarettes and other tobacco products cost a lot. If a smoker is up to a pack a day, it will most likely cost about $2,777.65 per year. Any smoker should know thatsmoking can cost them their looks and money, but most importantly their health. There are more than 2.8 million smokers under the age of 18 in the US, and 3.4 million high–school students are current smokers. In addition to the health problems caused by tobacco use, young smokers are more likely to use alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine. Nicotine abstinence programs for high–school students have been proposed as a response. The transtheoretical model of change predicts that smokers will go through a series of stages leading up to quitting: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, and action. Non Smoker Policy To: Senior Policy Maker From: Shirley Kyere Subject: Tennessee's Non Smoker Protection Act Date: November 12, 2017 Policy Background In 2007, Tennessee, one of the largest tobacco–producing state in the United States endorsed the Non–Smoker Protection Act (NSPA) that banned smoking in enclosed areas in Tennessee with some exceptions ("Information for Employers", n.d.). The law went into effect on June 11, 2007 and municipalities had to observe it no longer than October 1, 2007. This law was enforced by the Tennessee Department of Health. West Virginia state implemented smoke–free laws and had an increase of almost 1 percent in restaurant employment ("Smoke Free Laws do not Harm Business," 2017). • 15. Active Smokers in Indonesia There are a lot of smokers in the world. In Indonesia, the number of these smokers is really surprising. There are over 60 million people active smokers in this country (Faizal, 2012). "In Jakarta, smokers are the kings. Go to any coffee shop – or any other public place, really – and you'll easily spot people smoking in a room that has an obvious "no–smoking" sign" (Barley, 2011). It will be no surprise if the non–smokers are the minority in this city. Although horrifying impacts of smoking are clearly written on the cover of everycigarette packages, it seems that the active smokers does not really care about the advertising, as the number of active smokers are very high. There are two types of smokers. The first is the active smokers and the second is the passive smokers. The active smokers are then broken down into 7 types of smokers. The first is the Skinny Smoker. The skinny smokers are those people who thinks that they can lose and maintain their skinny weight just by smoking. • 16. The Pros And Cons Of Black Smokers In the deep sea resides black smokers, which are hydrothermal vents. Black smokers form from tectonic plates meeting and this creates a mineral laden fluid, iron sulfide, hence the "black smoke". This water permeates through the earth's crust, boils, and dissolves rock, reacting and creating bubbling, nutritious water. Only few organisms can live in the cold, deep, and empty environment where these Black smokers exists. These microbes are called extremophiles and rely on chemosynthesis, a process where an organism absorbs chemical energy from mineral–rich processes. These extremophiles, also known as archaebacteria, are an important food source for certain sea life like the yeti crab and sometimes have a symbiotic relationship with larger organisms. Discovering more of these microbes could further society as we could find more on other planets and their resistance to extreme environments can be studied by bioengineers. These hydrovents are also more concentrated than mines above the sea, which could potentially provide a cause for underwater sea mining. Such reserves are not only looked upon as a new mining source, but also a renewable mining source since these chimneys are capable of regenerating over time. Taking advantage of hydrovents would expand the mining industry and provide more jobs for society, reducing poverty while increasing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is possibly very valuable for general practitioners or other health care workers to encourage patient to consider quitting, ask patient's reasons for quitting then focus on motivational interventions. There is a need to target young people for smoking cessation interventions. This of course is looking at stopping the progression early. Targeting those at risk for abusing other substances, and address patient's lifestyle factors (stress and boredom) can probably improve smoking cessation rates and provide a better quality of life. Health care workers need to give appropriate pharmacological interventions for nicotine dependence, involve GPs to conduct smoking cessation interventions and consider training mental health care workers in interventions for smoking cessation as these would benefit patients as well as the health care system as the burden of disease is lessen (Baker, Richmond, Haile, Lewin & Carr et al., 2007). That fact proves to show how many abused children in the United States were actually recorded, imagine how many children are not recorded, yet are really abused! In her article "No Spanking, No Time–outs, No problem," Olga Khazan primarily uses a physiological approach and strong stance on a controversial issue, arrangement and style to enforce her belief that punishing children will have no effect on the behaviour of children. Her use of key elements such as diction, the use of imagery, and the tone all are huge factors in her style. Khazan uses the words "stress" and "temperament" to include in her diction, how parents almost always have a reason for punishing children, in their own eyes (Khazan "No spanking, No problem"). Having lots of stress and having a bad temperament can definitely be a reason behind parents punishing their children, and Khazan using this diction in her article helps impact her physiological approach by saying that parents' own problems cause them to take it out on children by punishing them for bad behaviour, and not really gaining anything from it. Khazan also uses numerous examples of imagery in her article that supports the style and her physiological approach by giving the audience a feel of a real life situation in which they punish, or think of punishing their children. For example, in her article she talks about being a mother who physically punishes her children makes them "less warm and affectionate", painting a picture in the audience's head of a child and their mother becoming more distant in the future and appearing less loveable due to the abuse the child once received (Khaz"No Spanking, No Problem). • 20. Should The Smokers Be Quit Smoking? Today 17.8% of Americans are smokers either currently quitting, struggling to quit, or do not want to quit smoking at all. There are many health warning messages on the packs, but we wonder, why do people still take the risk to smoke? A new solution to this problem that is being advertised, and is becoming popular amongst people is a product called Blu. Blu is known as an electronic cigarette that contains no tobacco, getting rid of the bad part to real cigarettes, however the product still contains nicotine which is the addictive part to cigarettes. This product is intended for smokers ages 18 and up to give them a better option to continue smoking without the horrible smell that comes out of the "death sticks". What this advertisement is trying to accomplish is that they want current smokers to make the switch to Blu without actually quitting permanently. However after learning more about this product I believe that is not the only reason to switch to Blu because since this product contains lesser ingredients than a real cigarette, it's a lot healthier option for smokers even smokers who are trying to quit, and I believe Blu is another solution on how to cut down. While looking at a billboard, magazine article, or the internet containing this advertisement the first part that a person's eyes will be drawn to is the logo "Why Quit? Switch to Blu."The heading of an advertisement is meant to get your audience to think about what the advertisement is about. After reading the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All non–smokers exercised regularly and most of the subjects in both groups did not consume much caffeine. To analyze the results, an unpaired t–test was used for each cardiorespiratory variable to identify differences during exercise between smokers and non–smokers. The heart rate was expected to increase during exercise for smokers. However, the average heart rate at peak work rate for smokers was 170 beats per minute, while for non– smokers the average heart rate was about 179 beats per minute. According to the p–value of .333, there was no significant difference between the average heart rates for these two groups. Similarly, the p–value of .674 indicates that there is no significant difference for average stroke volume at peak work rates between the two groups. Based on a study conducted between healthy smokers and non–smokers, the smokers had a higher heart rate during exercise than non–smokers [7]. The results don't support the hypothesis as well as the study due to the subjects chosen. The smokers that participated in this study exercised regularly, and some exercised between 5–10 hours a week. Therefore, these athletic smokers might on average have a lower heart rate than normal, which might have reduced the effects of smoking in general. By exercising consistently every week, the left ventricle in the heart begins to thicken and becomes more muscular. As the cavity of the heart enlarges, the heart can hold more blood and therefore during each contraction the heart can pump more blood with each beat. As a result, a lower heart rate becomes sufficient to deliver blood throughout the body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The health problems that are associated with smoke inhalation range from low birthweight to death. When a child dies due to unexpected reasons, we call it SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. In "I'd Rather Smoke than Kiss," the author Florence King expresses her disdain towards this new wave of hatred that has surged against smokers. King views these attacks on smokers as an outlet for Americans to demonstrate who they truly are without being judged. First of all, King labels all of those who hate smokers as "smokists" (Allyn and Bacon 315). Smokists hide behind this flourishing concept of "passive smoking" (315) in order to freely express their intolerance towards smokers without any obvious repercussions. Smokists do not care for what smokers might think they just seek their own well being, thus King views them as practitioners of a "sadistic brutality" (316). This group of misanthropes portrays smokers as uneducated and disgusting individuals that only inspire the vilest of emotions from the rest of the superior Americans. Therefore, many of the smokist's campaigns only inspire that. Furthermore, King throughout the piece mocks and ridicules those who strongly oppose smoking. She reminds the reader of the emptiness and lack of creativity that is found in their arguments. King also points out how they try to accomplish this enormous feat of destroying the tobacco companies by creating connections between rather mundane occurrences of the everyday life and smoking. In addition, King also talks about how beneficial smokers are. How the benefits they provide awaken "a tender concern" (316) from the government. Even with all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
