Ancestry.com is like a video game for adults... but then some of it has to be accurate... a make believe experience with a CLUB...

I started in Sept. working on Mom’s Kraft Family Tree to generate more data and
infrastructure for my AiLibrary Project (which had the Family Tree Room in the design
from 10 years ago)... and I am living at Iowa Hill which probably was a Mennonite or
similar group of religious family’s back in the day... and probably still is. Then I do this
study and find out we are Mennonite and Lutheran. Not to mention:

I feel like these gentle people, with the strength of Kraft... gkraft
The Mennonites and Amish are living a in a “plain” manner in their commitment to God
for their lifestyle, and you have to respect this. The Mennonites did not as a practice,
marry outside of their religious beliefs. Hugh Kraft and the next generation, Henry O
Kraft were Lutheran, as was our relative Adam Kraft in the 1400’s. I have Emma J
Kraft’s family Bible, King James version, she has a clear Anabaptist Mennonite bloodline
to Germany and Switzerland to 1400. The Kraft’s and Stauffer’s are founding families of
America dating 100 years before the 1776 War for Independence
It occurs to me, that the Christian Religion had many interpretations controlled strongly
by the Catholic Church, with the Northern regions of Europe leaning towards a more
controlled strict Christian belief that of the Anabaptist and reformed Lutheran. The two
main Christian groups had a bloody relationship resulting in the pacifists relocating to the
America’s, both North America and South America, and Africa, Australia and
undoubtedly the rest of the world. Today over 70% of the Mennonites live in the southern
hemisphere. The Pilgrims in Plymouth Rock are a vivid example. The Pacifistic oriented
Christians were farmers and craftsman, and settled America all the way to California.
They were obviously spreading their seed. The family’s of the Mennonites were often
over 10 kids per family. Were did these people come from? Certainly they kept to
themselves.

Since my research traveled back in time using the History Channel videos on iTunes, I
realized the location of our Family Tree members and our Bloodlines, religious beliefs,
and my own interest in History, had common locations of interest. We were Anabaptists,

peaceful, and lived in locations that we could practice our religious beliefs and would be
safe.
Interestedly, The world’s top Crusader Knights were warrior Monk Knights from
Switzerland, and the Stauffer’s and relatives lived in Switzerland Alps, they came from
many places to the Alps for the protection that the Alps gave to their religious beliefs, and
the knights that lived there were in demand for centuries as the top mercenaries across
Europe. Today the Swiss Guard protect the Pope. The focus of the Crusaders was a total
commitment to Christ (no different than a Friar), as Monk Knight’s, and as such they
committed everything they owned to their belief in Christ. However the Knights were
from the wealthy noble families and everything they did was for profit... Banking came
out of this. Bookkeepers, Printing Press invented, etc.
History shows that the Anabaptists were favored as farm renters in Scotland, England,
Northern Europe and across the Alps and Germany. They grew better, faster, and more,
than the normal farmers of the era. And paid more TAXES reliably. Religious
persecution in Europe, cheap land, and the opportunity of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Ottawa,
Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Gold of California, caused them to
migrate across America.

Summary,
The Kraft Family tree is German, NordFrisian, Swiss, French, Scottish, or as my dad
used to say, AngloSaxon. The Anabaptists were peaceful nonresistant Christians with
Lutherans and needed a safe place to live. We were pacifists. But some (Kraft
Lutherans) fought when no other choice. As Pioneers of America they were primarily
farmers and merchants. And the strong protected the weak.

The Kraft family (the word kraft in German and Swedish means STRONG,
STRENGTH, FORCE of GOD)

Kraft is known to be American rooted in the Pennsylvania (Amish) Dutch and
Mennonite culture family background with our Grandmother Emma J Kraft coming from
Emma J. Stauffer. Grandpa lived in a beautiful home with expensive Amish quality
furniture, nick naks, glass ware, dollies, and a enclosed sleeping porch with crank open
windows, he lived well, but not a bragger, like dad and I. Grandpa Hugh had wooden
carpenter tools with metal blades, and he was tall, very strong, and wiry, he could crush a
single walnut in one hand. Grandfather Hugh’s dad John Henry Kraft was a Civil War

Hero fighting for Ohio, in most major battles all the way to Atlanta with General Grant.
Question? If Amish, why fight?

Brilliant family, highly educated, aristocratic mother truly a matriarch, and father
taught College here at Humbolt College.

Probable/Possible family lineage:
Pennsylvania Dutch and Mennonite culture of peace...
And while we have been preaching Peace as the core of our family history beliefs,
We are at the same time warriors, begrudgingly ready and willing, we have
historically served in the military, with most becoming Sergeants in the written record.
John Henry Kraft
Is on the Civil War wall in Cleveland, he walked all the way to Atlanta with Grant.
John was in the Battle of Battle of Scareytown, Battle of Shiloh, Battle of Vicksburg, in
which the bold Union plan to split the Confederacy was now unstoppable, and the fate of
Vicksburg was sealed.
The performance that day by Logan’s Third Division, of which John was a
member, had been described by one historian as “outstanding.” Another indicates that
Logan “clearly was the hero of Champion Hill.” He continued to march all the way to
Atlanta and back to Ohio.

Samuel Hugh Kraft
Samuel Hugh Kraft was a master craftsman, expert with woodworking, played bare
hand, hard ball baseball, had knuckles that were two three times the size of normal ones.
He was a carpenter and had wooden tools with metal blades, chisels, etc. I believe that he
fought in World War I.
Henry O Kraft
I know dad did not like World War II, he was all over the South Pacific and China, and all
the years until his death, all he would tell me is that he fixed mess kits! Near his death he
did talk some, but no specifics, mom (showed me) said that he moved Chiang Kai Shek
and his family from Shanghai China to Formosa(Taiwan), and he received a Bronze Star
from Chiang Kai Shek for his valor? All I know is that he was a Tech Sergeant which is a
specialist rank?
Dad’s brother John, had a falling out with Grandpa and everyone, something serious
happened almost like he was outcast from the family, because I met with Uncle George
Kraft several times when I was young and he was funny as heck. So dad did
communicate with George...

Mom and dad took care of Grandpa Hugh Kraft (he was an expert on the civil war
because his father was in it,) with us in Cincinnati, Ohio and on too Marion, Indiana, in
his older years. I think dad was building the VA hospital in Marion when grandpa died.
Uncle John Kraft was a Lt. Commander on the USS Forestal Aircraft carrier according
dad who had a disconnected relationship with his brother John, dad always called him the
Admiral, I think dad meant it, maybe he was?
Uncle John retired in Aberdeen, Wa. because Nancy and I stopped there to see if he
would talk to us so that I could meet him, but his housekeeper said he was away...
Henry (Hank) Kraft had a huge ego and was well loved everywhere we went. He was a
Civil Engineer with some college from Ohio State and worked on several large
construction projects, such as building Veteran Hospitals (VA). Power Plants, and ICBM
Missile sites in New Mexico, and South Dakota. Hank started Kraft Construction Co. in
Cheyenne, Wyoming but had a falling out with his partner over some land deal. He was
the National Program Director for the National Home Builders Association. A Expert
Witness. He retired in Anderson, S.C.
Jeff O Kraft

Jeff, as I remember, you were going to skip to Canada avoid the Draft, and the next thing
I hear is that you are in the US Army Airborne! You went to Vietnam with a foot that did
not move since you broke it badly during training jumps and were sent to Vietnam with it
immovable...
Eric E Kraft
My son, went with me in 1968, to see the new John Wayne movie Green Beret when we
were visiting mom and dad in Cleveland, Ohio. He tells me today, jeez dad, that is the
reason I joined the Army, because he wanted to be “Doc, the Green Beret Medic” in the
movie... He has been virtually everything in the Army, from med Tech, to SF Medic in
Egypt, up to and including being a Drill Sergeant! Eric and Debbie Kraft’s mom, Nancy,
is Scandinavian from the English family Watt and the Swedish name Larsen.
Kraft’s were what the name implied, skilled craftsman. They were skilled in
Woodworking (with artistic ability), Stonecutters(Mason), Farmers, Merchants...

here are some thoughts:
1. Kraft/Stauffer-Stouffer are Mennonite Farmers and Kraft (Foods) and Stouffer
(Foods) are the result, and Swanson (Foods) is in the chain of family trees connected,
as is the Myers... we are all a big group that came from Switzerland and Germany
virtually together to Lancaster, Pa. and they came in in groups probably because
of their faith and religious persecution in Europe at that time.
I am blocked on John Jacob Kraft married to Catherine White in 1841 in Pa. no links
found to their respective parents, but Kraft is Kroft, and Krafft... (looking at : Barthold
Krafft in Germany as possible link) so I am looking at the Krafft that came from
Germany in large groups of Krafft's per ship lists from Bremen to Baltimore, Md.
Most likely all are the same or close religion, but Kraft's are Lutheran in my search, even
thought mom and us went to the Methodist Church growing up. His family and the
Stauffer-Stouffer are all bunched up in Lancaster, Pa. and then many move to mid Ohio
around Defiance, Ohio area and lived with the Meyers to start with.
Grandma Emma J Stauffer/Kraft’s Family Bible has Family information for John Henry
Kraft and Eliza C. Mechling our Grandparents, and they have clearly been erased and
rewritten, maybe just spelling. I have no reason to believe anything other than the fact

that we have always been named Kraft, even though Kroft and Graft, etc. are common
misspellings. Henry O Kraft always made me and others understand the strength he
placed on the family name of Kraft, they is no variation or question. We are Kraft’s,
confirmed by numerous documents in Ancestry.com attached to the Kraft’s. My birth
certificate and all other documents show clearly that we are the Kraft’s. I asked dad if we
were related to James/John L. Kraft of the Kraft cheese he said yes, grumbled, and said
nothing else, I took it to mean too far away relative? Perhaps that is because I have
always said that we are related but too far away so I had to make my own fortune. So
without any immediate linkage to Jacob Kraft our Great Grandfather to anyone else
causes me to skip to the next probably Kraft’s in Germany. Besides our fascinating
Ancestry.com linkages happen at our Grandmothers level, so concern about the Kraft
spelling further up the line is irrelevant. I talked to Aunt Katie in Sandusky and she told
me that her recollection of the Kraft family was that they were Dutch, and Mildred O
Kraft went to the Zion Lutheran Church. But I did get a inquiry from the House of
Stewart’s family line as a result of my tracing the Kraft possible linkages... from Canada.
With all the other linkages, I wouldn’t be surprised...
I remember going to Aunt Susie Stauffer's in the middle of the state of Ohio, she still had
a big red operational manual hand pump water pump in the kitchen next to the sink... she
was my favorite Aunt, she could cook... apple turnovers, cobbler, pot roast, um...

2. Joss/Japsen are joined in Sandusky, Joss from Scotland, Japsen from Scotland but also
earlier from NordFriesland (Denmark/German/Viking)
Mom's Scot Ancestry Research Society says: Joss came from France to Scotland in
1403 and the name is a derivative of Josse, and/or are connected to St. Josse also known
as St. Judoc a 7th century Breton Nobel.

Mom’s Family Tree package that she gave each of us, for the Joss family, has a
document from Scotland Ancestry Research Society dated 1952:
William Joss went to Scotland around 1403, and William Joss was the Chaplain to Robert
the Bruce III, at exactly the same time as Braveheart and Robert III became the King of
Scotland for 22 years afterwards...

Angus Joss went from Aberdeen Scotland to Sandusky. Angus Joss is married to our
grandmother Alma Japsen of Sandusky, and the Japsen family line is connected to the Isle
of Sylt in Nordfriesland. This is mom’s real point in her docs... Researching our
Grandmother Emma J Stauffer family connects the Krafts to Robert the Bruce as
our Grandfather... and well beyond (if accurate) all the way beyond Julius Caesar...
all the way to eden.

Non Linear History (rambling TalkStory) Summary
The Kraft family is based on Peace and God on both sides (Joss and Stauffer).
Ancestry.com has linked the Kraft Family Tree to most of the Kings and Queens of
Gaul, Franks, England, Saxons, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Belgium,
Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Spain, not to mention several Emperors and even Attila the
Hun... too much to believe but then after several comparisons to mom’s original Family
Tree printouts that are over 10 years old, match what I find via Ancestry.com, and that
includes a curious Family name of Newcomer/Neukommet that runs for 10 generations...
but the connections made by their family line is paralleled by following the Meyers
family to Tilley Blades family and it all connects virtually the same English Royalty, etc.
According to mom’s info package, The Ancestry.com Stauffer, Joss, Japsen, and Jensen
lineage is correct at least back to the 1400’s.
The Kraft’s are a interesting combination of devote Christians (Lutheran, Mennonites,
Amish) and a fantastic family lineage history of man...
I have probably made some errors in my sense of where we came from. But, the overall
flow of Reasonableness is High. ie. confidence is high that the Kraft/Stauffer/Meyers

came together from Germany and settled America before the War for Independence by at
least 100 years. They came here to America because of Religious persecution, to spread
their Religion, and the lure of free or cheap land, they were skilled workers and hard
workers. Stone Masons, carpenters, farmers, wood workers, etc.
Henry O Kraft married Mildred O. Joss. Gordon began Lutheran and then moved with
Jeff, Dennis to the Methodist Church with mom most Sundays, and bible school every
summer. Dad did not attend church with us when we got older, he was brought up with
using the home as the church, Hank believed strongly in Jesus Christ and our Lord. He
was almost like Archie Bunker around other people sometimes. He referred to teutonic
determination now and then so do I, he cursed at work, but not in front of mom, and he
could yell louder than anyone and scare the crap out of you. He used to yell out of the
car window if someone was not driving right “move you damn sheep herder” when I was
going to High School in Cheyenne, Wyo. he was a real character. No body ever was
cross with my dad, in fact many times I would met other older folks that saw me with
him and they always said what a wonderful father I have. Even a Sr. Mexican Engineer
that worked with my dad in Wyoming ran into to dad and I at a Quick Stop store in New
Mexico, (JJ Molinar, or former Governor of New Mexico or something) and the man
could not stop telling me how much my father was liked and respected at the job, dad
was a Civil Engineer at large construction projects, and was Project Director for building
the Atlas Missile sites in Wyoming, Roswell, New Mexico and the Minuteman Sites in

South Dakota, plus numerous Veterans Hospitals (VA), Chevrolet Plants, Power Plants,
and the Budweiser Can Plant in Columbus was something to see.
As a young boy I always wondered why people were so mean to each other. I was gentle
and kind, why where they not? As time progressed I moved to Cheyenne, Wyo. at the
age of 14, starting Cheyenne High School at 15, i was always younger than anyone else
in my class. My dad played football for Ohio State, so he recommended that I play HIgh
School football on my first year as a Sophomore, weighing 154lbs, and standing 5’6” tall.
I had a line coach that weighed over 325 and he used to throw me into the line to show
me how to hit right. I ended up as a Defensive End, and the first time they swept my end,
I charged into them all and got knocked out. They called me Nighty Nite.
We had compulsory HIgh School ROTC with full wool Green Army uniform, M1 rifle,
close order drill, boring movies that we skipped out on, and O’Grady Drill Competition.
I liked the ROTC Drill, but when we could, we left class, and went to the DriveIn a few
blocks away for breakfast, I did not like the wool uniform that we had to wear all day on
Thursdays because it itched terribly. And the girls did not think it was cool... I had a flat
top blonde hair, one of those skinny belts in white, and pegged blue jeans, and loafers and
chuka boots. Of course they wore cowboy boots, and jeans, and the girls were beautiful.
We had no real racial hatred in Cheyenne, few blacks, and some mexicans. The blacks
and whites were always one. But the Wyoming folks were friendly, open, and loved life,

the kids drank 3.2 beer from the Colorado border about 13 miles away. You could drink
in Colorado at 18.
Hunting and fishing were real big in Wyoming, deer, antelope, duck, sage grouse,
peasant, Elk. You were taught to eat what you kill, and to not shoot a animal unless you
planned on doing that. Pickups with 30-30 Winchesters and Deer rifles were common, as
was a fish rod hanging in the rear window. No one touched a unlocked car or truck.
When I graduated, I was 5’8” 174 lbs. and I started the University of Wyoming at 17,
with an apartment off campus. I enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program and Business
Administration at the University, rarely went to the same class more than once a week,
because class attendance was optional, ended up getting Acute Rheumatic Fever during
Christmas and New Years break, had a bad Heart condition (murmur), and had to drop
out. You were not supposed to get Rheumatic Fever at that age (18). Dad drove from
Roswell to Laramie to get me, I recovered in Roswell. From 18-20 I grew 4” and
weighed about 225.
NOTES: The Kraft Family Tree has established several family lines from the Stauffer
to most of the Kings and Queens of Europe.

The Kraft’s probably have a spelling or change of name, however I know for fact that
John Henry Kraft is my great grandfather from talks with Samuel Hugh Kraft my
grandfather, I have no reason to think that our name is not Kraft. My dad was very
proud of our name and made all of us aware of the fact that we were Kraft’s and to
behave as such... he didn’t mince his words.
but:
there is a break in the Kraft family line, at Jacob Kraft, who looks a little different than
grandpa Hugh Kraft (but two gens back), the name of John Henry Kraft was scratched
out and rewritten in Emma J Stuffer/Kraft Bible King James red letter Teaching
edition. Her bible has the name Kraft embossed in gold.
This is the core of a good story yet to be told... I clearly remember when working at
DiagSoft, someone trying to connect to me from Newfoundland or Nova Scotia that is
family related. which is why the “who moved Sylt image” caught my attention...
the Stauffer family’s will know of this, church records exist yet to be researched, and a
professional researcher is warranted. I have a feeling that the Kraft’s will connect to the
Stewarts...

My previous efforts using Kroft connected to the Stewarts...
Is it unusual for all of these grandparents, going all the way, according to Ancestry.com,
to Eden, for these individuals to be connected to me? or is this typical using
Ancestry.com? Charles H, John H, Fred and Norman. In that year the
business was incorporated under the name of JL Kraft & Bros Co,
with James L Kraft as president. James Kraft died in Chicago in
1953, survived by his wife Pauline and daughter Edith.
At this point, based on the tripple bloodline connecting to Royalty, and the probability,
the Krafts, via the Stauffer line may have some Royalty’s possible???
The Newcomer/Neukomet family line goes at least 10 generations back (plus is core
to Martin/Newcomer Family Tree, a simple check of Ancestry.com will prove that the
Newcomers were real and in many other Family Trees) and are therefore just as correct as
any other name such as Smith. A link is a link. And the Newcomer name is on mom’s
(over 10 year old) charts... Interestedly, they had at least two wife's, the Newcomers and
Neukomet’s, and had about 20 children each... (10 gens X 20 kids = 200 kids)
The Stauffers, Krafts, Meyers, Newcomers, all lived in the same area and were of the
same religious beliefs, so they came to America to find land and peace, and were part of

the Pennsylvania Dutch Pilgrims, Mennonites, that included people like John Quincy
Adams, and other Mason’s...
I have considered the possibility that the Templars, Crusader Knights, and Masons that
needed a name change are the Newcomers... after all they were fighting for Christ, and
they already gave up their worldly possessions... When they first moved to Ohio from
Pennsylvania, they actually lived with the Meyers to start with...
My father and grandfather Kraft were very strong personalities, and successful, which
relates to how driven they were and very proud of the name Kraft, and we have yet to
travel the Kraft/Kroft/Croft/Craft/Krafft/Krofft/Krefft family history... and then
again we are probably Stewarts or St. Clair’s from Canada... Sandusky to Canada is very
close. and Sandusky, Ohio has most if not all of the known lodges such as Templars...
and Masons, and even the Italian American Club that Angelo Cappizzi my Uncle used to
take us to. The Cappizzi family story is that, Angelo got spanked because he brought
home Spanish Olives instead of Italian Olives when he was a child growing up in
Sandusky. Sandusky used to be the major Coal shipping port for the northern US, they
could lift up an entire coal car and dump it into a Coal container ship, like a salt shaker
only bigger... Sandusky is known as the City of Parks with many daily updates to the
artistic plant and flower displays.

Regardless, Henry Owen Kraft and Mildred Otiellie Joss were married in the St Pauls
Evangelical Lutheran Church.

When I was little, we used to go visit Uncle Oscar and Ruth (Jaspen) in Louisville, Ky.
They were local to the Kentucky Derby and mom and dad went every year if they could.
Dad won a lot one time, not like millions, but a lot back in the day, I was a kid. Aunt
Ruth was my God Mother and later in life I learned from my mom that she was very
wealthy because she owned a significant amount of NAPAAuto Parts. My dad became a
Kentucky Colonel?
Dad told me that he took Woody Hayes the Coach of the Ohio State Football Team
fishing in his boat on Lake Erie, and that he and Woody used to talk once in a while. Dad
built the Budweiser Can Plant in Columbus, Ohio. Woody only asked for “three yards
and a cloud of dust per each play”...
Crusaders, Templar Knights, Earls, and Nobles, to Kings and Queens, to Emperors and
Vikings, to Ireland way back, the Kraft Family Tree is still being discovered, like peeling
an onion... 3 distinct bloodlines go there from Grandma Stauffer. and we still have the
Caesar’s to go through back to the time of the days of Troy, Enoch, and Eden...
Plus Emperor of the Persian Empire, and Muslim parentage? Then there is our Druids
and Goths in the Family Tree and the Basques and the Spaniard Gomez of LaMancha,
Spain...

There are two choices, is it real or Memorex?
Mom’s Joss/Japsen side that is real clear and concise to the Isle of Sylt (numbered in
detail as to bloodlines by Jonny Mungard).
When I first started writing this paper, I had just watched a story about the Templars and
the Crusades, and said that they disappeared by fading to black... they were committed to
Christ, and the Catholic Church wanted to kill them, they became Amish/Mennonite/
Lutheran/Methodist Anabaptists. And so did the Freemasons...
I sense the word Birthright...

Nancy my ex wife went to South Carolina and stayed for a week visiting with mom a few years ago, many years
after our divorce. Mom had mixed feeling towards Krystle but she liked Nancy and she like Lydia I think more

than anyone woman in my life, because mom liked her directness and spunk. Nancy said mom told her a lot of

I had made some progress on Kraft previously but deleted it because it didn’t look right, which means that all
related records are deleted but, there is a Christina Kraft still unconnected...
I know from dad, that John(James) L Kraft is a relative, just how close or far is a question. my instinct is that the
one with the money left the one without the money in the cold, in the days before Kraft Cheese, the Krafts and
Stauffers grouped their money into family investments... traditions...
