8. Singapore curriculum
The main emphasis is on broad-based education which means:
• preparing every member for life
• Excelling in their area of specialization
Broad based learning takes a holistic approach to learning. It does not involve splitting
the curriculum into separate subject areas.
Essentially the approach is more about learning to learn, with an emphasis on learning
by experiment and experience. So the pupils are encouraged to try things to prove to
themselves what works, rather than be told.
Group projects are encouraged.
Education via "play" I.e. shared tasks and group solutions is encouraged.
The advantage seems to be that it involves real education; not rote learning or teaching
to the test. The classes seem to be small.

9. The main emphasis is on theory-based education which can :
• Allows students to learn through the experience of others and often leads
to a deeper understanding of a context
• Boost student practical knowledge: While theory gives you the
underpinning knowledge, it’s vital students also acquire the practical
knowledge and techniques that can be applied to day-to-day role (the
opportunity to kill two birds with one stone).
