Running head: PM PM 3 Name Institution Date B. Rationale behind Cost and Time Estimate During project planning, the project schedule as well as cost estimate are accepted. These will make the planning of the project’s work complete. At this point, one can start doing the work. Formally, this is termed as project execution and control. Consequently, execution refers to doing the work while control refers to tracking the work and ensuring that it is being done on time as well as within budget. The process of tracking completed work, which refers to scope deliverables against cost and time, is referred to as Earned Value Analysis. The purpose of performing Earned Value Analysis is to ensure that there is delivery within budget. In addition, the estimation of Earned Value Analysis helps in learning whether a good job was done in cost and time estimate. There are two important reasons for tracking actual cost and time as the project is being worked on. First, the data obtained is very essential input for future estimates. Secondly, this makes it possible to compare the actual cost and estimated costs at the end of the project, day by day, line by line and the planned schedule to the actual schedule. c. The major driving force for this decision is the fact that the company’s Chinese partners already have the necessary facilities in place. In addition, another reason for this is that the Hangzhou city is proximal to the Qiantang River. Consequently, Qiantang River is significant since the access to the river is responsible for Hangzhou Bay, which is big enough to handle the company’s shipping needs. The project is also justified by the fact that there has been an increase in the volume of production from the China plant and therefore, if container shipping companies for instance the China Shipping Container Lines are utilized. The ports in Shanghai and Hong Kong are utilized by container shipping companies. However, Shanghai port, which is 180 kilometers away from the current location, results in extra logistical steps. The products of the company are transported to a port located on Qiantang River before being loaded into containers for .

Chapter 2 Questionsand Answers 1. There is a difference between the project, the project life cycle, the project schedule, and the overall project objective. At the core of these terms is the project life cycle. The project life cycle comprises which of the following? A. Phases B. Milestones C. Estimates D. Activities A. The project life cycle is comprised of phases. B is incorrect because milestones may exist within the project plan but they do not constitute the project life cycle. C is wrong because estimates are not directly related to the project life cycle. D is incorrect because activities are performed within the phases of the project life cycle, but not the project life cycle itself. 2. Marci Koening, the project manager for the ERP Project, is about to complete the project phase review. The completion of a project phase is also known as which of the following? A. Lessons learned B. The kill point C. Earned value management D. Conditional advancement B. The completion of a project phase may also be known as a kill point. Lessons learned is a collection of information and knowledge gained through an experience, typically a phase, within the project, so A is wrong. Earned value management can happen at different times throughout the project, not just at the end of a project phase; therefore, C is wrong. D, conditional advancement, is a term that describes the conditions that must be present for the work to continue on a project. Conditional advancement, however, does not have to happen only at the end of a project phase. 3. You are the project manager of the GHY Project for your organization. You have been tasked with creating a new software for your website which must also be available to mobile users. There are several deliverables that must be documented for this project. Which of the following best describes a project deliverable? A. The resources used by the project to complete the necessary work B. The resources exported from the project as a result of the project work C. The end result of a project planning session D. A verifiable, measurable work product D. A deliverable is something that can be verified and measured. A defines the resources in order to create the deliverable. B is an inaccurate statement. C defines how the work and resources will be utilized to create the project deliverable, not the deliverable itself. 4. As the project manager, you must work with your project team to identify the project and the project phases within the project schedule. This identification helps to communicate expectations and outcomes of the project work. The compilation of all the phases within a project equates to the ____________________. A. Project life cycle B. Product life cycle C. Project completion D. Project processes A. The project life cycle comprises all of the project phases within a project. B is incorrect because the product life cycle describes how long a product will be in use after it is created. C and D.

Project Deliverable 2: Business Requirements Due Week 4 and worth 110 points This assignment consists of two (2) sections: a business requirements document and a project plan. You must submit both sections as separate files for the completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment it is written for. Additionally, you may create and / or assume all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment. The use of specific software has been suggested however equivalents including but not limited to OpenOffice, Dia, and Open Project are also permitted. If equivalent tools are used, files must be saved and submitted for grading using extensions that are readable by their equivalent Microsoft Windows edition. Assignment submissions that fail to follow this request may result in a reduced grade. Procuring quality business requirements is an important step toward the design of quality information systems. Completion of a quality requirements document allows user needs and expectations to be captured, so that infrastructure and information systems can be designed properly. Your company, which is a data-collection and analysis company that has been operating less than two (2) years, is seeking to create a repository for collected data beyond standard relational databases. Your ten (10) terabyte data warehouse is expected to grow by 20% each year. You are mindful of data warehousing best practices which will aid you immensely in your requirements gathering effort. Using the requirements document provided in the course shell, you are to speculate on the needs of the company. You must consider current and future requirements; however, assumptions should be realistic and carefully considered. Section 1: Business Requirements Document · Write a four to six (4-6) page original business requirements document for the project plan using the template provided. Note: The template is provided under Additional Resources in the Student Center tab of the online course shell. · Describe the project including the following: · Describe and define the scope of the project. · Speculate as to how to control the scope. · Identify possible risks, constraints, and assumptions. · Describe the relationship and integration between systems and infrastructure. Find an example of a real project with a real project manager. The project can be from corporate, business, construction etc. Interview the project manager or one of the project leads. Write a two-page paper describing the project in terms of its scope, time and cost goals. Discuss what went right and wrong on the project. Also, discuss the role of the project manager and project sponsor. You will also discuss if the project was successful or unsuccessful. Search the internet for two interesting articles about software development life cycles or project management life cycle, including agile software development. Also, review the website ww w.aailealliance.ong. What do these sources say about project management? Summarize your findings in a one to two-page paper citing any references. Solution For this assignment, would like to discuss 1 project in details. This project we are going to discuss is from a corporate. Whenever the new partners in a particular geographical region signed up, the welcome kit was to be shipped. Partners signed up with the the multinational and the relevant details were passed to this third organization for preparing and shipping out the relevant welcome kits in that region. Multinational M <---------------->Regional Partners P M-------Backend Processing at Regional Company R----------------P The regional company R performed the backend fulfillment at a regional level to prepare & send out the welcome kit - some Software CDs for development, manuals, etc. Let us call this Organization R where the project was done. Scope: Scope of the project involved reading weekly files from M and creating new orders in the ERP system of R. Time: Time of the project implementation was 2 months. Cost: Cost of the project was 50K USD As the project was for a prestigious organization, it was important for regional company R, however its budget was low and it involved multiple stakeholders that played important role in the success/failure of the project. Time: Out of the 2 months, the user requirement and testing needed more time in this case, as this project could mean different things to the various stakeholders. As a project manager it was important to meet up with customer R and also to connect with customer\'s customer. Multinational M had certain assumptions about the project that were missed initially. There was a limited time to successfully launch the project. It helped getting approvals for the requirements in detail which involved data formats, expected delivery schedules, etc. The testing was key in this project as the input files were received from outside company R. The security protocols for file transfers need to be defined and tested. So there was administration team that had a role in this project. Even though there job was for half a day only, certain approvals were needed from the highest level and for the success of the project it was needed to initiate it well in advance. The 2 weeks were needed for requirements gat.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.

When you’re building (micro)services, you have lots of framework options. Spring Boot is no doubt a popular choice. But there’s more! Take Quarkus, a framework that’s considered the rising star for Kubernetes-native Java. It always depends on what's best for your situation, but how to choose the best solution if you're comparing 2 frameworks? Both Spring Boot and Quarkus have their positives and negatives. Let us compare the two by live coding a couple of common use cases in Spring Boot and Quarkus. After this talk, you’ll be ready to get started with Quarkus yourself, and know when to select Quarkus or Spring Boot.

Tracing the root cause of a performance issue requires a lot of patience, experience, and focus. It’s so hard that we sometimes attempt to guess by trying out tentative fixes, but that usually results in frustration, messy code, and a considerable waste of time and money. This talk explains how to correctly zoom in on a performance bottleneck using three levels of profiling: distributed tracing, metrics, and method profiling. After we learn to read the JVM profiler output as a flame graph, we explore a series of bottlenecks typical for backend systems, like connection/thread pool starvation, invisible aspects, blocking code, hot CPU methods, lock contention, and Virtual Thread pinning, and we learn to trace them even if they occur in library code you are not familiar with. Attend this talk and prepare for the performance issues that will eventually hit any successful system.
