Global Health Drawers - Cash Drawer that cleans the bacteria and virus on money giving you clean money. Money is the dirtiest surface humans touch each day, which is passed around spreading infectious diseases making society very sick.
Do you feel safe receiving your change? The dirty truth about money and bacteria
1.
2.
3. Do you know where your money has been?
I would like you to think about the notes in your wallet,do you know where they have been?
Scenario I
The currency in your wallet may have been in the sweaty hands of an 8-year-old waiting to buy cotton
candy at the state fair or worse in the hands of someone who didn’t wash their hands after using the
bathroom. What’s even worse is both of those people could have had colds when they handled that
dollar bill and they didn’t use a tissue to wipe their nose. They used their hands.
Scenario II
Sarah woke up with what appeared to be the flu, she had a runny nose which she constantly had to
blow and a deep chesty cough. Sarah was unable to go to work due to her condition and took the day
off. Unfortunately for Sarah she had no food at home, which required her to go down to the shops.
With Sarah feeling unwell and didn’t have the energy to cook, so she decide to get takeaway breakfast.
After receiving her breakfast she went to the drug store to buy some cold and flu tablets before
returning home.
Experts say your mother was right when she warned you to not put money in your mouth.
4. Unsuspecting Customers
Unfortunately for the next customers, they are unaware of the individuals whom have previously
been through the same checkout, along with bacteria and viruses in which they are about to
become subject to. With the microorganisms on currency having the potential to make an
individual highly ill and in circumstances fatal to those with compromised immune system, seniors
and pregnant women.
As a common scenario that individuals undertake whilst falling ill, with the short trip by Sarah
having repercussions to unsuspecting individuals following. Such small nominal purchases are
commonly facilitated through cash. With some 80% of bacteria’s and viruses transported through
hands, the currency in which Sarah handled is now contaminated. The cash registers warm
environment acts as an incubator for such bacteria and viruses, also allowing for the
contaninationsof largeothrcurrency with in the drawer. No only are the next customers subject to
the contaminated notes but also the staff whom operate the register. Having such large volumes of
Bacteria and Viruses being incubated with in cash drawers creates a serious health issue for those
working with currency.
Next time you make a purchase, do you feel safe receiving your change.

5. Money Facts
Think about it. Whether you have a lot of it or hardly any, money is one of the dirtiest things you're likely to
handle every day. That legal tender in your wallet has been passed around from hand to hand, person to person
and possibly traveled the world and back.
- Viruses and bacteria can live on most surfaces for about 48 hours, but paper money can reportedly transport a
live flu virus for up to 17 days
-Paper money can reportedly carry more germs than a household toilet.
-In a 2002 study, pathogens were found on 94% of the bills tested
- Research shows that 9 out of 10 bills in the U.S. and Canada have traces of cocaine on them.
- Due to drug use, an increasing number of notes contaminated with Hepatitis-C
- WheresGeorge.com tracked an American dollar from Ohio to Kentucky to Tennessee to Florida to Texas to
Louisiana to Utah and to Michigan, all in just three years.
Denomination Estimated Life Span
$1 5.9 years
$5 4.9 years
$10 4.2 years
$20 7.7 years
$50 3.7 years
$100 15.0 years
6. Global Health Drawers
Money is one of the only things which is handled by nearly everyone in society, thus
allowing for the spread of bacteria within society. GHD product range comprises a
series of stand-alone cash drawers, which includes the inaugural integrated cash drawer
sterilization apparatuses. This new technology radically reduces the levels of bacteria
and viruses present on money. This non-invasive technological development implements
a compilation of GHD signature ultra-violet lights and mirrors. This design orchestrates
a highly successful sterilization method with the elimination of 92% - 96% (see
appendix) of money’s contamination agents.
With the increasing focus on health and hygiene, GHD offers a safe and effective
approach to the sanitisation of currency. The reduction and, in some cases, complete
elimination of both bacteria and viruses that are found on money will enable brick and
mortar industries, which experience high traffic volumes, to contain the spread of
infectious diseases.
The global understanding of the germs and bacteria housed on money motivated the
development of this new technology. Ironically, there is a widespread acceptance of the
issue; however, up until now, there has been no solution. As a direct response to the
volume of illnesses being spread through the medium of currency, GHD has created a
means to contain the problem at the source.
Bacteria and viruses on currency rival some of the most unhygienic surfaces in the
world, including toilets; therefore, the widespread implementation of GHD technology
will have a radical impact through eliminating a primary source of ‘housed’ disease.
Having the product tested in microbiologist labs, the cash drawer achieved consistent
results of eradicating 92% to 96% of bacteria and viruses commonly found on currency.
Through the use of the GHD signature lights and engineered cash drawer design, the
light breaks down the DNA of pathogens rendering them harmless.
The use of ultra violet light allows for the disinfecting process, which inactivates harmful
microorganisms without using any chemical agents. The cash drawer acts a pre-emptive
method of sterilization to stop the transmission of illness and influnza from consumer to
consumer, thus increasing effectiveness exponentially upon each transaction.
Researchers from the Wright Patterson Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, study on the
contaminated state of money concluded that harmful pathogens are found on 94 per
cent of the notes tested. In addition, studies found that money is able to transport a live
flu virus for up to 17 days. Furthermore, 87 per cent of notes were contaminated with
infectious causing bacteria, specifically harmful to any compromised immune system.
Shockingly, severe diseases Klebsiella Pneumonia and Staphylococcus Aureus was
present on seven per cent of notes.

7. Competitive Advantage
Global health cash drawers allows for the differentiation of shopping experience
creating both competitive and comparative advantage over competitors in the market
place and improving brand image. In an industry that proves difficult to differentiate
from its competitors a cleaner safer shopping experience allows for a point of different
to be established in creating a premium service.
Safety of Staff
Due to the nature of bacterial and viral born diseases, cash drawers act as incubation
hubs allowing for the cross contamination between notes and coins. If an infected note
or is placed with in the cash drawer, it has the potential to infect the entire drawer. In
the case of a cross contamination of notes, the staff that are handling the currency can
be exposed to a large volumes of pathogens and microorganism causing serious illness.
Currently in Australia the level of absenteeism is on average 9.4 days a year compared
to the acceptable level of 6.5 days of sick leave annually. GHD Cash drawers has the
potential to reduce the sick leave by reducing the exposure of staff to the current levels
of bacteria and viruses on money, allowing for healthier employees.
Corporate social responsibility
With the increasing focus on health and hygiene, the corporate social responsibility to
the stakeholders of the organisationis to maintain a safe retail environment. Creating a
safer cleaner approach to the way in which cashiers and customers interact will in turn
improve the brand image of the organisation. With CSR becoming an increasing
component of large organisation and vital tool in building brand equity .The use of
sterilising cash drawers, offers brand building through the proactive offering of services
and increased shopping experience to maintain the health and safety of customers.
