• On World Hunger Day, Dionne will lead an all star cast of
performers from both sides of the Atlantic in a London charity
concert to promote the work of The Hunger Project (THP) ‐ a global
charity operating in 13 countries running programmes that
contribute to the sustainable end of world hunger.
• Dionne confirms: “Through my role as Goodwill Ambassador to
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, I know that
while emergency famine relief is a necessity in times of crisis,
helping mobilize communities to create their own food security and
meet their basic needs is vital in securing a sustainable end to
hunger. That’s why I’m thrilled to host this concert to raise
awareness and funds to ensure the work of The Hunger Project
continues and to inspire everyone with my personal mantra – ‘if
you can think it, you can do it.’”

• The Hunger Project is a global nongovernmental organisation (NGO) which has
fully integrated the international development community’s Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs) into its work. The charity has already impacted the
lives of millions of people in rural villages across Africa, South Asia and Latin
America to meet their own basic needs and build a better future for their
children.
• Tim Holder, THP’s Country Director in the UK: “I believe that awareness needs to
be raised about the achievements of millions of people in the developing world
who are ending their own hunger. Education and celebration will be the order of
the day. I have no doubt that ‘Dionne Warwick and Friends’ will raise the roof at
the Apollo Victoria Theatre; whilst on the same day there will be a conference
held in Central London which will provide an opportunity for people to learn
more from the incredible individuals involved in our work on the ground.”
• The creation of World Hunger Day and the events which THP has planned in
support of it, aim to raise awareness and dramatically increase the funds the UK
contributes towards the global effort. As a charity with an established presence
throughout Europe, Australasia and the US, this groundbreaking event in London
is also expected to inspire celebrations around the globe as representatives of
THP from the developing and developed world converge on the capital.

• Dionne confirms her full support of the initiative: “When Tim first got
in touch earlier this year to let me know about the invaluable work
that The Hunger Project does around the world, and asked me if I
could help him re‐launch the charity in the UK, I knew immediately
that I wanted to be a part of it all. I'm so thrilled to have been able to
support this project's incredible growth over recent months and am
looking forward to joining the team in London to launch ‘World
Hunger Day ‐ Empowering People. Ending Hunger’ on January 9th,
2011.”
• Tim adds: Many millions of people in the developing world have, with
our help, already proved two things:
1. Hunger is the problem;
2. Those suffering from it have the courage, capacity, strength, talent and
determination to bring about an end to their own hunger.
• We hope their story will prove to be the inspiration for everyone to
get involved and make the day a major success.”
