Evaluation question 6
1. Evaluation Question 6
What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Managing
equipment, resources, deadlines and
film making
The equipment was very easy to transport and set up. For
the scenes shot outside, we only needed the
camera, nothing else. The black container that housed
the battery and the camera had wheels and a handle so I
carried this around our location. When filming the
detectives, we set up all the lights and the tripod and
dolly which were already there. As for the bags of
evidence, we just used what we could source from
around the house as it was a spur of the moment thing
and we had nothing prepared. Deadlines for the actual
final piece got a bit tight towards the end due to our
technical difficulties but we got it all done in time. The
actual film making experience was very enjoyable and I
enjoyed the editing part more than anything else.
3. My Part
Beginning with filming, I did most of the filming with the
victims. As I am a lot taller and stronger, I was able to give
‘Jack’ a bigger feel and I was able to hold the camera still for
longer. I filmed all the walking parts too as we used my feet in
the beginning. Back with the detective scenes, to make it fair
and even, I only filmed a small bit to let my partner have some
experience.
In the editing suite, I admit I did the majority of the editing.
This was down to me allocating more free time to the project
and my past experience with computers. I went through step
by step making sure I was happy with what has happened so
far. I felt I did more then my fair share, not saying my partner
didn’t but I definitely did my part and didn’t let my partner
down.
4. Health and Safety
There weren't any health and safety concerns to
begin with as we weren't doing anything
dangerous. One thing I did to make sure we
didn’t cause any harm to our actors was to turn
off the Redhead lights whenever we weren't
using them. These very powerful lights could
cause damage to your eyes if exposed to them
for long periods of time.
5. Developing creativity through digital
technologies
Digital technology advances allows us to be more creative
and being allowed to do exactly what we want to do. We
were able to have a high quality camera that wasn’t too
bulky so the walking scenes could be shot easier. In the
editing suite, the advanced computer program is able to
give us more options and configurations to perfect our
final piece to the highest of standards. One downside of
this program is that it requires a lot of processing power
which only a handful of computers in school are able to
give. Plus the expensive of the program meant we were
unable to have it at home so whenever we wanted to do
some editing, we had to use these specific computers in
school which created a bit of an inconvenience for us.
6. Technologies in research stage
When researching the influences from other
films, we looked at YouTube videos, DVDs and
internet movies sites e.g. IMDB. When we were
doing our audience research, I used my iPhone
camera to record these interviews and then
uploaded them to YouTube.
