Runners must be in the running area by 7.30am.
Michael: The history of the bull running in Pamplona is not clear. There is evidence of the festival from as far back as the 13th century when it seems the events took place in October as this coincided with the festival of San Fermion on October 10th.
George: It seems that the modern day celebration has evolved from this as well as individual commercial and bullfighting fiestas which can be traced back to the 14th century.
Michael: Over many years the mainly religious festival of San Fermion was diluted by music, dancing, bullfights and markets.
Michael: The Purpose of the festival is to get people to celebrate the Bull Run by going there and getting chased by them, like I said before it’s not really clear the purpose.
George: So what happens on a Bull Run? Well, the people who want to take part in Bull Run gather together at the start line. A gun is fired and the crowd start to run.
Michael: Moments later the Bulls are released and chase the people, the length of the run is 825 metres and the average time of the run from start to finish is about three minutes.
George: At the end of the race people celebrate by drinking, dancing and eating.
Michael: The Target audience for this Festival is defiantly Fit adults who can run extreamley fast. This is the type of festival where the younger people are not involved due to the danger or risk of the Bull Run.
George: Yea, would you want your child to watch a person get dragged or crushed by the Bulls in the street? I certainly wouldn’t!
George: So I bet your wondering where they get the money from to pay for this, dangerous festival.
Michael: To partake in the Bull Run you have to pay a certain amount of money which goes towards the fund to be able to borrow the bulls.
George: With the sheer amount of people taking part it’s very easy to make the money quickly.
Michael: This is a well attend festival and is very popular in Spain thank you for listening.
