Contacting the 1975 and Vagrant
As part of our music video we wanted to add a performance element but struggled to do
this with the resources that we had. However, 3 out of 4 group members went to the 1975’s
Manchester gig in September 2014 and recorded part of the performance. After this we
decided to contact their management and ask for permission to use the footage. To do this
we went on the 1975’s website and found the bands record label. The mail was sent on
January 19th 2015 and stated that we were college students making a music magazine for
our coursework and asking permission to use the footage for copyright reasons. Since
sending the email we haven’t had a reply as of yet (29/01/2015) however we remain
hopeful and wish to use the footage so that we can add the performance element to our
video meaning that we would be using all 3 music video styles making it more versatile and
appeal to a larger audience while still looking clear and maintaining a strong narrative.
