Evaluation Question 3:
What have you learned
 from your audience
     feedback?
These slides contain different forms of
feedback that I received throughout my
                 project
Band Name Decision
Originally, I had 6 ideas of what to name my
band. Out of the ideas I had came up with I
decided by myself that I wanted my band to be
named: ‘Twats Like Us’

However, upon feedback from my teacher I decided
not to use it since a band would not use an
inappropriate name for a number of reasons. Firstly,
through using rude language the artists songs would
not be able to be played on the radio since the name
would not be able to be used. Also, currently one of
the main franchises for selling albums is in
supermarkets which are designed for family use so an
album with rude language would not get stocked.

This also ruled out the idea of using: ‘The Fazy Luckers’

Although this censored the name I wanted I could clearly understand the feedback of not using it.
After this I was left with 4 band names but in my mind it came down to Lego
Monkeys and Scrapheap Mojo.

After asking members of my class for feedback since they are around the age
of the target market I would have expected for my band. Although Scrapheap
Mojo had some fans, the general reception was that Lego Monkeys was the
name that best suited my band and their genre

This view was also supported by my teachers so it was clear that Lego
Monkeys was the correct decision.
Animoto Pitch Feedback
I was unable to record this pitch since when I
conducted my first pitch that was recorded in
class time with my original group
However, I did get a chance to show one of
my teachers my pitch to discuss feedback.
She raised issues to do with my planning out
of concern. Although she is older then my
expected target market she had valid points to
make and made me think more clearly about
the execution of my project since at the time I
was very vague on details
This prompted me to consider factors of my
project in practical terms so overall it was very
helpful to receive feedback on my presentation
Draft Digipak and Advert Feedback
After completing my draft work I received feedback from
teachers on them.
There were some simple changes that were advised that
needed changing such as the digipak was the wrong way
up and that the images on my advert needed resizing which
I took onboard since these a purely media issues, such as
incorporating the rule of thirds, which I trust my teachers
on.
However, there were some constructive advise
that they gave me which at the time I did not
agree with such as removing the beige and
simply making it black and white which at the time
I thought was too big a change.

They awarded each 5/10 which gave me a better
idea of at what level my work was which overall
benefited me
Digipak Feedback
Also, nearer to the deadline of the final
digipak my teacher suggested to me that
one of the panels looked like more of a
pop genre then a indie rock. Although I
agree with her at the time of making it I
did not realise at all.

Because of this my teacher showed me
this album cover from The Crookes which
is a bit more like the genre I wanted. I
found this to be perfect inspiration and
decided to use this as a majorly influential
part of my final digipak
Mid-Editing Feedback
At a first look at the first minute of the video
I received some feedback from my teachers
for when I conducted my re-takes.
The main point that my teacher stressed
was that they are suppose to be a 4 person
band yet even in the first minute that there
lots of separate shots with selective band
members. This is probably down to the fact
that on the main filming day the drummer,
Matt Rogers, was only able to join us for the
band shots so there no other shots of that
day with him in. These are some examples
of selective band member shots I found
already:
I understood their point but I knew in my
mind this was not my decision and was due
to Matt’s absence
Feedback From My Class
I left a large piece of paper for members of my class to write their
thoughts about my advert and digipak on for my benefit in feedback.

Alex wrote: "I like the front cover and advert, but doesn't really stand out
just with black and white"

Jack listed: - Good professional photos
            - Realistic Reviews
            - Modern advertising
            - Nice theme
            - Cool Font
            - Better cutting out needed
            - Move font on disc

Laura wrote: "Advert looks current and professional and matches well
with Digipak. Some editing of photos on digipak could be improved."

Vish wrote: "The digipak looks like a whole package. Black and white
works well and is simplistic."

An Un-Named person: "Good use of font and text layout. Definite
grayscale theme. Edges need smoothing on advert models - looks
jagged.“

This gave me constructive feedback from people I would see as being
in my target market. The main issue that became apparent was the
poor quality photos which I agreed with since I had taken them on my
iphone
I did the same thing for feedback on my draft music video
Laura listed: - lighting needs sorting, band shots are a bit shadowy.
                - actors work really well and costume looks good.
                - casual style of shot works well/collage type video works for
song

Mae listed: - Some of the lighting needs sorting
              - should only be one singer, bit random. Having the shy boy (she
means Matt on Bass Guitar) for a second of it.

Alex wrote: "Some of the drumming and singing look shy. Clips are
sometimes really random not linking anything. Really like the casual shots in
town in front of wall and skating.

Balpreet listed: - good shots used especially close ups
                   - Narrative slow
                   - Boys having fun
                   - lip syncing not on time
                   - drummer seems upset?

Jack wrote: Good miming, nice locations, clothes fit, nice banter, more shots
to finish

These are some feedback points I listed from my teacher:
- Look at the framing of shots
- Only half done but can see concept being formed
- Rainbow t-shirt (Tie dye on Danny the singer) key
- Keyboard prominate in video, add more shots
The main feedback that I took from this was what elements where important
when considering re-shooting the video. The drumming shots need to be
improved was a general comment which I took note of and the Tie dye tshirt
being prominent was not something that I had noticed but made a lot of sense
to me
This gave me good feedback when looking what to improve when reshooting
Final Video Feedback
I received some what mixed reviews for my video. People were held different views on the
acting performances of the band but some of this was down to not being able to reshoot some
shots. Luckily people seemed to think that the lip syncing was good which is crucial in making
an authentic music video. Also, I think it came across that I had put a lot of my own time into
making it since there are a fare few locations involved. Overall, although it is not a grade or
mark it gave me a better idea of how people saw it as an actual video which interested me to
know.
Also, people seemed to see the humour in my outakes video when I showed them which I
liked.
Overall, I think my ideas came out well onto my video
despite maybe not filming as much as I would have liked.
Whilst filming I felt although my idea was my own creation
that I was supported by my teachers in a constructive
                            manor.
Also, I did not feel hampered by the exam board and felt I
had free will to do and film what I wanted and thought
                       would be best.
