The purpose of a music video is to promote a song and interested a target market. This focuses on giving
the listener a better understanding of the song with video is narrative while entertaining people by
showing off their talents to the whole world. It also gives record companies a chance to see new
upcoming artists such as YouTube so that they can discover the next big thing.

The first ever music video was in 1956 Tony Bennett was filmed walking along The Serpentine in Hyde
Park, London as his recording of "Stranger in Paradise" played; this film was distributed to and played by
UK and US television stations, leading Bennett to later claim he made the first music video.

Major record labels are large corporations often owned by a conglomerate company such as Sony or
Comcast. Independent labels are independent companies that do not have a corporate backer. As
creating a successful record label very expensive and time-consuming job many independent companies

2. have done additional research and planning before proceeding further. The main focus is to help artists
gain more awareness and recognition for their work which could gain them a record label to sign onto.

Gangnam style “Appeared out of nowhere to become more than a simple Korean pop music single”
engrossed an estimated $870,000 from YouTube Alone. There around many reasons on how this was
achieved but mainly people found the video more enjoyable than the song itself added it had a worldwide
audience viewing thanks to YouTube.

One of the most famous music video of all time would be Thriller as over 30 years since Michael
Jackson’s “Thriller” music video was released it became and still remains being the one of the most
famous. When first released it was first shown to the public and eligible for the Oscars, afterwards gaining
a theatrical release. In 2009, the video was inducted into the National Film Registry becoming the first
music video to ever receive this honor, for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant.
