1. Great ratings from Stephen Tanzer!
2011 Chilcas Sauvignon Blanc Reserva Casablanca Valley
87 points:Pale gold. Pungent aromas of citrus pith and herbs, with a peppery
note that builds with air. Fleshy and broad but quite dry, offering reasonably
intense bitter lemon and lime flavors. Betrays a bit of heat on the tangy finish.
2010 Chilcas Cabernet Franc Single Vineyard Maule Valley
87 points:Dark purple. Pungent dark berry and cherry pit aromas are slow to
unfold. More expressive on the palate, which offers light-bodied blackberry and
bitter cherry flavors and a hint of cracked pepper. Finishes tight and linear, with
good cut but a slight dry edge. Nicely balanced cabernet franc, but a bit more
flesh and sweetness would have been welcome.
2010 Chilcas Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Lolol Colchagua Valley
87 points:Inky purple. Peppery dark berry and cherry pit aromas are deepened
by notes of dark chocolate and bitter herbs. Gently sweet and precise, with
good energy to its blackcurrant and cherry flavors. Closes on a firm, spicy note,
with good cut but a slight dry edge.
2009 Chilcas Carmenere Las Almas Maule Valley
91 points:Glass-staining ruby. Black and blue fruit preserves on the highly
perfumed nose, with licorice, vanilla and floral qualities adding complexity.
Broad, pliant cassis and blueberry flavors become spicier with aire. Gentle
tannins add shape to the bright finish but are absorbed by the wine's lush fruit,
which lingers impressively.
