Megan Meier Foundation
The Megan Meier Foundation’s hope is to make a difference through spreading Megan’s story along with
educating students, parents, educators, and other professionals on the devastating consequences of bullying and
cyberbullying. With technology ever changing, the dangers the internet presents and the lack of education and
legal protection, now is the time to be active in protecting children and encouraging them to have successful,
positive lives online, on the playground and in the hallways. The ultimate goal is to empower children to have
empathetic responses and to stand up for one another and continue the Foundation’s mission.
To bring awareness, education and promote positive change to
children, parents, and educators in response to the ongoing bullying and
cyberbullying in our children’s daily environment.
History
On October 16, 2006, Tina Meier’s life took a devastating turn
when her 13 year old daughter, Megan Taylor Meier, took her
own life after being cyberbullyed by her adult neighbor. In
December of 2007, Tina Meier, founded the non-profit Megan
Meier Foundation. Tina travels throughout the country on
behalf of the Foundation as a keynote speaker giving
presentations to K-12 schools, college campuses, youth rally
programs, internet safety summits, educator/school resource
officer/counselor trainings, parents, and
community/professional organizations. The Foundation has
since reached over 120,000 children and adults across the
nation, presented at the U.S. Department of Education’s
Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools National Conference in
Washington, D.C., created annual Workshops for St. Louis
Area students and created a scholarship fund for students
making a difference.
