This was a lot of information to find, but nonetheless I think I put this one together well. Check it out and as always please let me know what you think! Thanks! :-)
2. THE HUMAN HEART Apart of the cardiovascular system Allows for the delivery of needed substances to body cells. Conducts waste removal Consist of the human heart & blood vessels: Arteries Capillaries Veins
3. IT’S A TWO PART SYSTEM Systemic Circulation Between the heart and tissues and cells Transports oxygenated blood away from the heart to tissues and cells Carries this blood back to the heart Pulmonary Circulation Between the heart & the lungs Transports deoxygenated blood to the lungs to get oxygen Carries this blood back to the heart
4. ITS NOT ALWAYS PERFECT- HEART PATHOLOGY There are many different types of heart disease. Many are genetic and some are developed during life. Some are fatal, and many can also be treated.
5. A FEW TYPES OF PATHOLOGY Angina Pectoris Arrhythmia Bundle Branch Block Cardiac Arrest Cardiomyopathy Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Congenital Septal Defect (CSD) Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
7. THE DOPPLER ULTRASOUND Measurements of sound waves bounce off internal organs to produce an image. Measures velocity of blood moving through vessels. Identifies blood clots and thromboses for preventative action.
8. STRESS TESTING Evaluates cardiovascular fitness Patient placed on treadmill, with increased levels of work EKG & oxygen levels are tested for abnormalities. If found the patient will be stopped.
9. ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY Diagnostic ultrasound procedure Used to visualize internal cardiac structures & cardiac valve activity. Picture to the upper left shows a pediatric echocardiography being done. Cardiologist often refer to this procedure as cardiac ECHO.
