2. Introduction
• Gary Rixson recently became vice president of business
development for Balance Innovations. Gary Rixson also donates to
several causes, including Higher M-Pact, based in Kansas City,
Missouri.
Higher M-Pact works with individuals aged 11 to 18 years old.
Higher M-Pact participants have had encounters with the juvenile
justice system for engaging in violent and antisocial behavior. In its
Project Restoring Hope program, Higher M-Pact reaches out to
provide positive behavioral alternatives. This mission involves
helping youth create healthy relationships and serve their
communities.
Through individual and group meetings, Project Restoring Hope
mentors participants to learn from past experiences, enhance
decision-making and goal-oriented skills, and develop tolerance.

3. Higher M-Pact
• The program encourages them to build-up morals to
decrease impulsive actions.
Another aspect of Project Restoring Hope is the Kids
Across America summer camp. Led by Christians, this
experience is intended to bring out leadership qualities
through sports and other outdoor activities.
Other elements of the project include meetings with Cub
Scouts and Girl Scouts and monthly birthday parties.
Families and businesses also donate food and gifts for
the holidays. Sports, musical, and artistic performances
give participants a chance to enjoy themselves without
worrying about life’s necessities.
