S + was/were+ V-ing...
表示過去某個「時刻（ at ten
o’clock yesterday morning ）」，
某件事正在進行。
Ex. I cooked from 4 pm to six
pm yesterday. I was cooking at
five o’clock yesterday
afternoon.
now
S + am/is/are+ V-ing…
表示現在這個「時刻
（ now ）」某件事正在
進行。
Ex. She is watching TV
now.

過去進行式＋ when ＋過去式
（動詞為表瞬間動作的動詞）
I was cooking at 4:30 pm. The phone rang at 4:30 pm.

5. 補充：
• 瞬間動作（ momentary ）表示瞬間的動作
，例如：
go 、 come 、 call 、 start 、 stop 、 finish
、 open 、 close 等。因為瞬間動詞是用來
表達發生後馬上就結束的動作，因此這類
動詞在大部分的情況下不會以進行式
• 出現。
• 例如： Emma went to the middle of the
street and stopped a car.
