- Many of the time constraints should have been worked out when we put together the learning strategy.
- The amount of time we can allocate to different parts of the session will depend on three things:
- First, how much time the organisation will allow us to have.
- Second, how much time the learner needs to achieve competency
- And third, our judgement, and who much we believe we can accomplish in the available time.
- There are many other factors that affect the timing of sessions. These include: - whether the learning is to be done on-the-job, off-the job or a combination of both - if the delivery method is to be face-to-face, online, by distance or a combination - the availability of learning facilitators - staff scheduling issues - whether the training is for new staff (induction program) or existing staff (refresher training or new information).
- The job of the trainer is to break down the activities into chunks of time and record this in the session plan.
- Keeping a record of whether the time schedule was accurate will help for the next planning session.
