How to create your lesson
in order to be teaching your classmates about the topics you choose to get prepared for Crozon
1. Chose the topic you are going to teach them from the class list
1. Link it with one or more topics from our study book Tricolore Total
1. Create a google doc file named : YOUR NAME - YOUR TOPIC (ie, Jonas file should be titled :
JONAS - AT THE RESTAURANT
PLEASE ENSURE YOU KEPT IT IN YOUR PRIVATE FILE IN YOUR GRADE’S SHARED
FOLDER SO IT COULD BE ACCESSED AT ANY TIME BY THE TEACHER
1. Research, take notes, summarize, edit, select sources in order to get a solid lesson which
includes at least 4 of the following elements :
a. Informations and explanations
b. Vocabulary in context (used in key sentences)
c. Pictures
d. Relevant videos (in French when possible)
e. Games: ie domino's, Kahoot, Quizlet, Socrative…
1. A piece of text (minimum 60 words) choosing one of the following forms : dialogue, interview, a
video, a powtoon, narrative, postcard, letter, a newspaper article, a menu, a poster,... this written
piece should come with a recording of you saying it.
1. Update and increment the Google slides G8 Crozon Vocabulary presentation following the following
pattern: add a section title slide with your name and topic before adding the slides with relevant
French vocabulary and its English meaning.
1. Get prepared for your presentation : plan for the duration, the explanations and the activities.

STUDENT CHOICE AND VOICE • THE STUDENTS WILL ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS IN A GOOGLE DOC IN THE CLASS SHARED FOLDER: • WHAT DO YOU WANT TO LEARN ? • WHY DO YOU WANT TO LEARN IT ? • HOW DO YOU WANT TO LEARN IT ? • HOW WILL YOU KNOW YOU KNOW IT ? • HOW WILL YOU SHOW YOU KNOW IT ? THE STUDENTS TO CREATE A LIST OF TOPICS - WHICH TOPICS DO THEY WANT TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE ABOUT?
  • 4. Matching the curriculum The easiest part to do ! The students are willing to master some exact part of the IGCSE curriculum (topic area A, B and C) I could also match their topic with the US National STANDARDS FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING
  • 5. Scaffolding - or structured collaboration How to create your lesson in order to be teaching your classmates about the topics you choose to get prepared for Crozon 1. Chose the topic you are going to teach them from the class list 1. Link it with one or more topics from our study book Tricolore Total 1. Create a google doc file named : YOUR NAME - YOUR TOPIC (ie, Jonas file should be titled : JONAS - AT THE RESTAURANT PLEASE ENSURE YOU KEPT IT IN YOUR PRIVATE FILE IN YOUR GRADE’S SHARED FOLDER SO IT COULD BE ACCESSED AT ANY TIME BY THE TEACHER 1. Research, take notes, summarize, edit, select sources in order to get a solid lesson which includes at least 4 of the following elements : a. Informations and explanations b. Vocabulary in context (used in key sentences) c. Pictures d. Relevant videos (in French when possible) e. Games: ie domino's, Kahoot, Quizlet, Socrative… 1. A piece of text (minimum 60 words) choosing one of the following forms : dialogue, interview, a video, a powtoon, narrative, postcard, letter, a newspaper article, a menu, a poster,... this written piece should come with a recording of you saying it. 1. Update and increment the Google slides G8 Crozon Vocabulary presentation following the following pattern: add a section title slide with your name and topic before adding the slides with relevant French vocabulary and its English meaning. 1. Get prepared for your presentation : plan for the duration, the explanations and the activities. REVIEW THIS LIST AND THE PRESENTATION CRITERIA HAVE FUN, LEARN A LOT AND TEACH EVERYONE! When answering the question how do you want to learn it, the student s will propose a number of options, from where they will be able to choose to design their lesson. Here is an example of a lesson recipe proposed to the students

  • 7. Assessments Of the process (for learning) The lesson is created under Google doc and the students insert in their lesson the links to any online content. The teacher does formative assessment : During class time reviewing students work, collaboration, asking questions Reviewing the online Lesson and the related materials in the students shared folder making comments and providing feedback Of the products (for learning) Self assessment / during the process, the students are asked to evaluate their use of class time, and the quality of their work Peer assessment Teacher assessment using the rubric Of learning After the students have taught their lesson, the teacher propose to the whole class some relevant exercises, by written and orally to probe for learning. Formative assessment : before the departure, 1. the student create a dialogue (two friends are meeting in France and are talking about what they do, where they go…) using the content taught in the lessons 2. the students will orally have to answer questions related to the different topics

Foreseeable Opportunities and Challenges Challenges • Time management • Ensuring “teachability” : correctness, clarity, hands-on activities (avoid lecturing) • Very loose control Opportunities • Students engagement • Learning how to teach = learning how to learn • Start an improvement cycle : with ongoing assessment, the last lessons should be higher quality • Be surprised by the strategies and the involvement
