1. Sensex gains 134 points on F&O expiry day

Following a cautious start, Indian indices gained momentum and stretched the rally for 4th straight day. Bulls retained
their hold on D-Street with Sensex hitting an intra-day high above crucial 21K level. Benchmarks jumped over 0.6% to
settle near day’s high on F&O expiry day. On BSE sectorial front, FMCG was the top gainer.
Among global peers, US indices dipped in red due to disappointing macro-economic data. On the other hand, Asian
and European indices too traded on a mixed note as investors were concerned over China’s economic slowdown.
Back home, on currency front, Rupee weakened against Dollar after a positive start. In futures trades, INR hit an intraday high of 62.13/USD and an intra-day low of 62.36/USD. In spot trades, INR hit an intra-day high of 61.9/USD and
an intra-day low of 62.04/USD. As per RBI reference rate, INR stood at 61.93/USD.
On stock specific front, KPIT Technologies slipped 2.15% on BSE as according to some reports, promoters and two
private equity (PE) shareholders of the company have started negotiations with investors to sell a minority stake in the
company. The shareholders are demanding around 25-30% premium to its current price. (Read More)
State run power equipment maker, Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd (BHEL) gained 1.6% on BSE on reports of Life
Insurance Corporation of India’s (LIC) plans to acquire 5% stake in the company via block deal. (Read More)
The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1395 and 1379 respectively,
while 157 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 20986.99, up 134.52 points or 0.65%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low
of 21005.04 and 20860.02 respectively. 22 stocks advanced against 8 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty gained 38.75 points or 0.62% to settle at 6238.80. The index touched high and low of 6245.95 and
6202.10 respectively. 33 stocks advanced against 17 declining ones on the index.

The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 6469.03 and gained 0.10% while S&P BSE Small-cap index jumped up by
0.23% to 6436.27.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index increased to 7661.37 (up 0.42%) and CNX 500 index rose to 4816.40 (up 0.47%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX gained 0.04% at 1395.50 from its previous close of 1395.00 on Tuesday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, FMCG (up 0.99%), Capital Goods (up 0.94%) and Automobile (up 0.86%) were the top
gainers.
Metals (down 1.80%) and Real Estate (down 0.52%) were the top losers.

GAIL (India) Ltd (up 2.97%), ITC Ltd (up 2.07%), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (up 2.00%), Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd
(up 1.77%) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 1.63%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Tata Steel Ltd (down 3.23%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd (down 2.62%), Tata Power Company Ltd (down 1.85%), Coal India Ltd
(down 1.12%) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 0.85%) were the top losers on the Sensex.

ITC Ltd (42.85 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (13.75 points), Infosys Ltd (11.98 points),
